Chapter 461 This Isn't Right
Aaron, who had just been rescued, was initially startled. Then, with a crazed look on his face, he chimed in, "Yes, kill them all." Right now, he hated Ethan the most.
So the two of them headed to the Divination Association, to Ethan and Xavier's courtyard, and killed all of the students.
These people had blood on their hands and deserved to die. In a fit of rage, they destroyed Xavier and Ethan's courtyard. Stanley even summoned the last remaining poisonous insects to search the courtyard. They found and destroyed all the hidden treasures. They discovered a secret chamber beneath Xavier's residence. Inside was a formation with a mysterious emerald-green pearl in the center.
Stanley tried to take it but found he couldn't. So, risking further injury from backlash, he directly destroyed the mysterious pearl. As soon as the pearl was destroyed, the entire courtyard began to quake. Stanley grabbed Aaron and quickly ran out.
Just as they exited, Xavier's courtyard collapsed into ruins. Stanley suddenly felt a powerful and mysterious aura dissipate. He laughed maniacally, with a sense of revenge, "Xavier, so this was your Destiny Pearl."
With the Destiny Pearl destroyed, Xavier's fate was sealed. Aaron was startled again by Stanley's crazed, blood-spitting appearance. He stepped forward and asked worriedly, "Mr. Ortiz, are you okay?"
Stanley's face was pale. He said, "No, I'm seriously injured. If I don't recover well, I won't live long. We need to get back to Eldoria quickly, or we might die here."
Aaron's face changed, and he immediately carried Stanley on his back and ran. Just as they left, members of the special department emerged from the alley. However, they did not stop them. The main reason was that Stanley and Aaron were diviners from Eldoria, highly respected positions. If they died here, it would be troublesome if Eldoria pursued the matter.
This time, they were only targeting Ethan's people. Even if those people weren't killed, they would be sentenced to death. Moreover, capturing them all might provoke a desperate counterattack, causing casualties among the special department. It was just as well that Stanley took action. So they hadn't stopped him earlier.
Once Stanley returned, the special department could negotiate with Eldoria for compensation. Otherwise, they would hold Stanley accountable. After all, everything Stanley did was recorded by their drones designed to detect evil auras and magnetic field disturbances. This was all arranged by Elizabeth through Alaric, and it proved useful.
Meanwhile, at the ancient tomb. Xavier, who was still using formations to battle Elizabeth and Zachary, suddenly started spitting blood. His face changed dramatically. He roared, "My Destiny Pearl! My Destiny Pearl!"
Ethan also started spitting blood at the same time. He exclaimed, "All my people are dead!" Those people were tools for him to absorb Generational Blessings. Once they died, he would suffer backlash. Moreover, Xavier's Destiny Pearl contained a drop of his blood, nurturing it. With Xavier's Destiny Pearl destroyed, his backlash was even more severe.
Not only did Ethan spit blood, but he also collapsed into the coffin, trembling all over. He aged several decades in an instant. Now, he looked like an old man on the verge of death.
Seeing Ethan in this state, Xavier's face turned grim, and he roared, "Elizabeth, you deserve to die!"
Elizabeth had calculated everything perfectly. With Ethan suffering such severe backlash, even if he absorbed all the Generational Blessings from those families and converted them into lifespan, he wouldn't live long. Moreover, Ethan's plans had been thwarted by Elizabeth.
Now, if Ethan stole those families' Generational Blessings, he couldn't escape Celestial Condemnation. And he wouldn't live more than a month. This filled Xavier with both pain and anger.
Elizabeth sneered, "Those words are more fitting for you and your son. Too many evil deeds will always bring punishment."
She glanced at Ethan and continued, "Someone like him, I don't even want to dirty my hands dealing with him. Didn't he want to live forever? Then let him experience the fear and terror of feeling his life slip away bit by bit. This ending suits him best." Dying quickly would be too easy for someone like Ethan. He should face what he feared most and die in terror and regret.
Ethan's condition was beyond saving. With such severe backlash, he could only lie in bed, unable to move, slowly waiting for death, and unable to commit any more evil deeds. So Elizabeth didn't worry about any future troubles.
Hearing Elizabeth's words, Ethan spat even more blood in anger. He had never expected to die from such a scheme. And to die at the hands of someone he had never taken seriously, Elizabeth. The thought of his impending death filled him with fear, making him tremble even more. Death was his weakness, and Elizabeth was too ruthless.
In a weak voice, he called out, "Dad, save me. I don't want to die!"
Xavier's eyes were filled with pain. He walked to the coffin, reached out, and touched Ethan's head. He comforted him, "Don't worry, I'll find a way to save you."
Elizabeth, however, exposed his lie, "He's all going to die anyway, why keep lying to him? Isn't giving him more hope only to make his death more disappointing and terrifying? You're not a good father if you're still lying to Ethan even when he's about to die."
These words darkened the glimmer of hope in Ethan's eyes, causing him to spit more blood. Seeing this, Xavier's face twisted in anger as he glared at Elizabeth, "Shut up."
Elizabeth raised an eyebrow, "Can't I even speak the truth? I won't shut up, what can you do about it?"
Xavier was indeed deeply angered. In all his years, he had never been schemed against like this, feeling so aggrieved and defeated. Everything had been under his control, it was all because of Elizabeth, that variable! She ruined all his plans!
He looked at Elizabeth with eyes full of killing intent and malice. Then, as if remembering something, he said with some confusion, "No, this isn't right! Today should have been your death day!"
He calculated with his fingers, confirming the time was correct. When Ethan had previously chosen to use Elizabeth to absorb Generational Blessings, Xavier had cast a divination. Today would be the day of her death.
Not only was Elizabeth not dead, but she had schemed Ethan to the brink of death. She had thwarted his plans, causing his Destiny Pearl to be destroyed and him to suffer severe backlash. How could this be?
