Chapter 286 The Prediction Would Too Terrifying If True

Zachary spotted the two frustrated folks and just raised an eyebrow, wondering, 'What's up with them?'

Then he glanced over at Elizabeth, who was up ahead, laughing it up with Raymond.

He noticed that when she was chatting with Raymond, it was a whole different vibe compared to when she talked to them.

She was practically glowing with happiness.

He shot another look at Raymond, who was totally fixated on Elizabeth.

Raymond looked like he was ready to cling to Elizabeth like a lost puppy.

Zachary thought, "This dude's definitely got some hidden agenda with Elizabeth."

Once they got into the private room, Raymond bailed first to keep tidying up.

Outside in the hall, Enrique looked seriously ticked off. Elizabeth and Kevin walked in, not even giving him a nod. Enrique wasn't bothered that Elizabeth couldn't stand him anymore, so he stayed quiet. But Kevin ignoring him too? That was just crossing the line.

Brenda was wiping the table, her eyes full of resentment. Earlier, she had asked Raymond to help lift the table, but he totally blew her off. Now that Elizabeth was here, he was all over her.

He was the most spoiled brat of the Gonzalez Family; why was he sucking up to Elizabeth like this? What made Elizabeth so special?

What really got to her was his blatant double standards.

She had been busting her butt at the hotel for hours. Her back was killing her.

But Raymond had the nerve to tell them their work wasn't good enough.

When she and Enrique took a breather, he even mocked them, saying they were just being lazy.

He also said if they didn't want to work properly, they should just quit, or they wouldn't deserve their pay.

He didn't even consider that she might be exhausted from working non-stop.

Elizabeth was just sitting there, helping with makeup, barely lifting a finger, yet he insisted she take a break.

She was clearly way more tired than Elizabeth!

At the same time, even though she didn't want to admit it, she was super envious and jealous of Elizabeth.

She hadn't realized before that Elizabeth could make a rich brat like Raymond lower himself to pamper her.

Elizabeth really had some skills.

In the private room, Eugene handed the menu to Elizabeth, saying, "See what you wanna eat."

Elizabeth's face was indifferent, and she didn't take the menu. She said, "We'll order when they get here."

Then she pulled out her phone and started chatting with Natalie in the group chat.

Natalie and the other three were on their way to the restaurant. The four of them weren't performing but went to be extras.

In Aevum City, there's a street specifically for filming TV shows.

The four of them couldn't find other work, so they went to be extras. Each of them earned $150.

So when Raymond invited them to dinner in the group chat, they agreed and were on their way.

Eugene felt a strong sense of bitterness at Elizabeth's attitude. Earlier, when Raymond asked her to order, she was all for it. But with him, it was a different story!

His smile stiffened as he said, "Alright, we'll wait for them then."

Elizabeth didn't respond, clearly not wanting to talk to him.

Seeing Eugene get shut down, Kevin wisely kept his mouth shut.

After finishing her messages with Natalie, Elizabeth put down her phone.

She turned to Zachary, who was sitting next to her, and asked, "You crashing at the hotel with us tonight?"

Zachary nodded and said, "Yeah, the show's crew told me I'll be with you guys for the next week."

Elizabeth asked, "Since you live in Aevum City, you must know it pretty well, right?"

Zachary replied, "Yeah, I've been here since I was a kid, so I know it inside out."

Elizabeth smiled and asked, "Besides the places everyone talks about online, are there any cool spots or activities that tourists don't know about?"

She wanted to find chances to interact more with Zachary to observe and test him.

Zachary thought for a moment and said, "There's a market for fortune-tellers tonight. If you're into that, I can take you. But no photos or videos allowed, so no live streaming either."

Elizabeth had no clue about it.

Since Zachary brought it up, he probably already had plans to take them there.

She perked up and said, "Cool, let's check it out after the live stream."

Zachary nodded. "Sure thing, I'll take you."

Elizabeth then asked, "Are there any ways to make some cash in Aevum City? Like any competitions or something?"

Zachary, knowing the city like the back of his hand, replied, "Yeah, the day after tomorrow, there's a Soule competition that tourists can join. The top three teams get rewarded with silver by the city. In Aevum City, besides cash, gold and silver are also common currency. You can use silver in all the shops, and if it's a hassle, you can swap it for cash at the bank."

He added, "A lot of tourists actually exchange their cash for silver at the bank. They say it makes them feel more integrated. Personally, I prefer using gold and silver."

Elizabeth grinned, "Got it. Do you know how to play Soule? How about we form a team and give it a shot?"

Soule was an ancient sport where one moved a big ball to a specific spot, and pretty much anything went, including physical contact and grappling. She used to love playing it back in the day and was pretty good at it.

Zachary said, "Yeah, I know. The competition here needs teams of six, and you gotta really know how to play, or you won't be allowed in. It can get dangerous. If we can't get six people, we can join a mixed team. But it's best if we have our own squad."

He looked at Kevin and Eugene. "You guys know how to play?"

Both of them shook their heads, looking bummed.

They wished they did, just to play with Elizabeth, but no luck.

Just then, Raymond walked in, grinning, "I know how to play, count me in."

He loved ball sports and played them all the time.

Nancy, Brenda, and Enrique also walked in.

Nancy smiled. "I don't know how to play, but I can be your cheerleader."

Zachary smiled back. "Sure!"

He then turned to Brenda and Enrique. "What about you two?"

Brenda smiled sweetly. "I know how to play. When I was studying abroad, Enrique often took me to play."

She hadn't expected that what she learned just to fit in with the upper class would come in handy now.

Especially Zachary, the more she looked at him, the more attractive he seemed.

His appearance and demeanor were extraordinary, like a noble young master from ancient times.

She felt that he had a mysterious aura that was particularly captivating.

It was the first time she had met a man with Zachary's demeanor, and she felt a flutter in her heart.

Once she had such feelings, she wanted to seize the opportunity.

She felt the same way about Raymond.

It also meant that if she could seize this opportunity, her Generational Blessings would increase exponentially.

So she definitely wanted to participate.

Her eyes flickered; it might even become a key turning point in her clarification. She had to perform well and overshadow Elizabeth.

Enrique also said, "I know how to play; I'll join."

When he was studying abroad, he had friends in certain circles who liked to play Soule, and he often joined them.

This was something he was good at and could showcase himself well.

It was much better than waiting tables and being mocked by Raymond. He planned to overshadow Raymond and mock him in return.

Zachary smiled. "Great, now we have five people."

At that moment, another group of people walked in.

Elizabeth first introduced the new guest, Zachary, to them.

Then she asked Natalie and the others, "Do you know how to play Soule?"

Natalie raised her hand. "I do."

She had been taken to train for this sport before. She had always wondered why she had to learn this sport. Was it for now? She was even more astonished. She had been taken to learn Soule ten years ago.

Could it be that the people behind this had already predicted they would come to Aevum City?

If so, that would be terrifying.
