Chapter 304 With Those Words From You, I Feel Relieved

In the clothing store.

After sending Nathan off, Brenda started helping a bunch of dudes. But she quickly noticed folks were whispering about her. She felt that same panic she had when her Generational Blessings went poof before. After a bit, she started feeling like crap.

She ducked into the restroom and saw those spots popping up on her body again. Luckily, her heavy makeup kept them mostly hidden on her face.

Staring at herself in the mirror, with her skin looking rough, Brenda felt like she was about to lose it.

What the hell was going on?

Why were her Generational Blessings fading again?

She hadn't done anything wrong!

Was it because of that video from the foreign hospital that got leaked yesterday?

Deep down, she knew this wasn't right. Brenda had no clue what to do next. She took a moment to pull herself together in the restroom before heading out.

As soon as she got to the door, she heard people talking outside.

"Can you believe Brenda's love life is such a mess? How many guys has she been with?"

"She used to act all innocent. If she was more real, maybe more people would like her."

"I knew it. When I watched the live stream, she took Nathan to pick out clothes, and there was definitely something going on."

"Turns out she and Nathan had already hooked up before."

"We came to the store just to see Brenda, but I don't get the hype."

"Yeah, I don't get it either. I used to like Kevin, but now they all seem gross."

They kept gossiping, talking about the latest headlines.

Brenda's face went pale hearing all this. No wonder the store was packed, and people were sneaking glances at her. Some were even whispering and pointing. She was back in the headlines, with photos and videos of her with past flings all over the internet.

She was fuming. It had to be Elizabeth stirring up trouble again. Why couldn't Elizabeth just leave her alone? It was driving her nuts.

Brenda hid in the restroom until those girls left. After that, she stopped trying to sell clothes and just zoned out.

Enrique noticed and asked, "Brenda, what's up with you?"

Brenda snapped out of it and forced a smile. "I'm feeling kinda sick. I sold a bunch of clothes earlier, and the commission should cover our food and hotel. Enrique, can you take me back to the hotel? I feel awful; my head's spinning."

She really didn't want to stay out there, feeling like a zoo exhibit, constantly watched and talked about. Plus, she was worried Enrique might hear the gossip and find out. So, she used it as an excuse to head back to the hotel with him.

Enrique didn't want to stick around either. He noticed the store was unusually crowded, and people were giving him weird looks, like he was some kind of idiot.

He nodded. "Okay, I'll tell Raymond and then take you back."

He found Raymond and told him Brenda was feeling really sick and he needed to take her back to the hotel.

Raymond was annoyed. "You guys are always bickering. Just give the boss a heads-up. Once you get paid, you can sort out your own dinner and crash at a hotel for the night."Enrique could feel Raymond's disdain. "Don't worry, we won't mooch off you."

Raymond smirked, "Good to hear."

Enrique kept mum, griping that Raymond, being from a loaded family, was such a cheapskate. He didn't know what to say; Raymond was just impossible to get along with. And he couldn't figure out why Elizabeth liked hanging out with Raymond. Without saying more, he went to the boss and explained Brenda's "illness."

The boss had already seen the headlines and knew Brenda was faking it. But she didn't make a fuss. It was better for Brenda to leave early; she found her pretty gross. So she not only let them leave early but also gave them half a day's pay and the commission for the clothes sold.

Brenda had sold a bunch of men's vintage outfits earlier, racking up a few hundred bucks in commission. With their half-day pay of $150, it was enough to cover their expenses for the day.

With the cash in hand, they headed straight back to the hotel and didn't come out.

Given the big turnout yesterday, with many folks specifically seeking Elizabeth for makeup and styling, and considering a lot of them were her fans who left their contact info with the production team, hoping to be notified if Elizabeth set up her makeup stall again, Elizabeth decided to show some love back. She continued her work from the previous day and had the director's team reach out to those ladies.

Elizabeth's fans were super touched, thinking she was really thoughtful. They were so pumped that they rushed over to line up as soon as they got the call.

Zachary wasn't playing the harp anymore; he switched to the recorder. His recorder skills and emotion were way better than Eugene's.

So, Eugene couldn't show off his recorder skills anymore and had to rely on his looks to attract customers, just like Kevin.

Then Zachary and Elizabeth did a duet. The instruments in his hands seemed to come alive with emotion. It drew a huge crowd, with people shouting how amazing it was.

Elizabeth's makeup stall was already fully booked. Latecomers could only watch from the sidelines.

Eugene and Kevin felt miserable seeing this. Kevin said helplessly, "It feels like we're just tagging along."

As entertainers, they couldn't hold a candle to Elizabeth, the multifaceted fortune-telling maestro. Trying to attract customers was pointless because, as soon as people saw Elizabeth, they rushed towards her, calling her name without any need for solicitation. With Zachary's charm and talent, the area quickly became so packed it was impenetrable. They couldn't capitalize on their looks at all.

Eugene smiled bitterly and said, "Yeah, we're just dragging Elizabeth down now."

Then he added, "How could Raymond be so proud and boastful when he did nothing before? I find it a bit embarrassing."

Kevin agreed, "Exactly, Raymond is really shameless."

As they talked, someone nearby overheard them. This person happened to be a fan of both Elizabeth and Raymond. Unable to contain their disdain, they looked at the two and said, "It's not that Raymond is shameless; it's that Elizabeth enjoys indulging him deliberately. What he loves is the process and pleasure of being pampered by Elizabeth; it's not like he genuinely intends to shirk responsibility."

They would love to experience that kind of fun too.

Then they added, "After Raymond left Elizabeth, he became someone capable of helping others. What about you two? You're useless in any group. The crucial point is that Elizabeth was never keen to take you along; she utterly despises you. It's only because she was forced to be grouped with you two that she grudgingly tolerates your presence. You clearly lack any self-awareness, and yet you have the audacity to criticize Raymond."

Another person chimed in, "I think they're just jealous of Raymond."

It resonated with the surrounding people.

"Definitely, but their jealousy is pointless."

"Raymond is Elizabeth's good friend; they are nothing now."

Kevin and Eugene fell silent in response to the comments.
