Chapter 437 Elizabeth Was Really Bold
Elizabeth pulled into the hospital parking lot, quickly checked her email, and skimmed through Paul's message. She realized the decline of these families wasn't just what Paul had mentioned; there were also some details about the Divination Association.
Feeling like she was missing a crucial piece, she decided to go back and study it more carefully. After closing her email, she headed straight to Zephyr's ward.
She knocked on the door, and Ruth opened it, smiling as she pulled Elizabeth inside.
"Elizabeth, you're here. Come on in," Ruth greeted her. Then, while no one was looking, she quickly traced the word "stone" on Elizabeth's arm with her finger.
Elizabeth got the hint, nodded, and smiled. "Alright, Mrs. Anderson."
Inside the room, almost the entire Anderson family was there, including Phineas, Maria, and Betty.
Leon turned to Ethan. "Mr. Sanders, this is Elizabeth, the divination master I invited. She was the one who discovered the poison bug on my son. From now on, please discuss with her how to deal with the insect on Zephyr." He made it clear that they would all listen to Elizabeth, surprising Ethan and Betty.
Betty turned to Leon. "This is your family matter. Why should we listen to Elizabeth?" Wasn't Elizabeth unable to detoxify Zephyr? She had even invited Ethan, the president of the Divination Association, but Leon's family didn't appreciate it. They insisted Elizabeth come over, which she found confusing and humiliating.
Leon frowned at Betty and insisted, "We only trust Elizabeth now. You don't understand anything, so don't get involved."
Betty was speechless. Then she retorted, "I know you blame me for what I did before, but haven't I been making amends? Mr. Sanders is someone I invited."
Leon shot back, "If it weren't for you, how would Zephyr have been poisoned? Now you're acting like you've done us a great favor." He now found Betty to be too much. If, after the incident, she had visited the hospital frequently to check on and care for Zephyr, showing the right attitude by admitting her mistake, even if they had cut ties, he wouldn't feel so disheartened. But she didn't, not one call or visit. Until today, when she brought Ethan over. She acted as if she had done them a great favor, which was ridiculous. It also made him feel an unprecedented disgust toward Betty.
Betty's face darkened Saying such things in front of so many people, Leon was really going too far.
Ethan's eyes flashed. He looked at Elizabeth with a gentle and kind smile. "Ms. Clark, I've long heard of your reputation, and meeting you today, you are indeed extraordinary." He was a bit shocked that he couldn't see through Elizabeth.
He thought, 'Could it be that she is already a senior diviner? But at her age, it's impossible!'
Elizabeth also looked at Ethan and noticed that his aura was not chaotic, indicating he had used some method to recover. However, he indeed looked like he was on the verge of death.
Even though Ethan's sense of destiny was a bit fuzzy, Elizabeth could still pick up on some things. The aura around Ethan was eerily similar to the one that had targeted Darlene before, hinting they came from the same source.
She had a gut feeling Ethan was behind their troubles. From the moment she saw him, she felt a wave of disgust. Plus, his overly kind and gentle demeanor seemed fake. He was dying, which explained why he was so eager to reveal himself. It seemed her previous actions had indeed dealt a significant blow to him.
Elizabeth smiled faintly. "Mr. Sanders, in front of you, how dare I call myself a master." She didn't beat around the bush. "Can you detoxify Zephyr?"
Ethan nodded. "Yes, but it's a bit troublesome. If you're not assured, you can watch me do it."
Elizabeth asked bluntly, "What do you want from the Anderson family?"
Before Ethan could respond, Betty was already fuming. She interjected, "Elizabeth, how can you say that? Mr. Sanders is someone I specifically invited to cure Zephyr. How can you make it sound so transactional?" She was really a bit afraid of her daughter Elizabeth now. Was Elizabeth trying to mess up the removal of the poison bug today?
Elizabeth raised an eyebrow. "Mrs. Clark, do you mean Mr. Sanders is doing this for free?"
She turned to Ethan and gave a thumbs up. "As expected of the president of the Divination Association, such high moral standards."
Betty and Ethan fell silent; she really knew how to talk.
Betty said immediately, "Of course, we have to pay Mr. Sanders for curing."
Elizabeth laughed. "Then isn't it still about wanting something? Why not be straightforward? I thought Mr. Sanders was so noble, but it turns out he's just like everyone else."
Betty was stunned. Elizabeth's words were so blunt and harsh. She frowned. "How rude! How can you talk to the president of your Divination Association like that? " Elizabeth deliberately provoked Ethan to embarrass her. Didn't she realize the current situation was not the time for such behavior?
Elizabeth rolled her eyes at her. "I quit the Divination Association long ago, don't you know? I'm talking to Mr. Sanders about Zephyr. Can you not interrupt me?"
She sarcastically added, "For those who don't know, it might seem like you're using Zephyr to curry favor with the president of the Divination Association. You are still Mrs. Clark. Can you have some self-respect?"
Betty was so angry that she almost fell backward, pointing at Elizabeth. She stammered, "You, you!"
Ethan looked at Elizabeth and interrupted puzzledly, "Ms. Clark, do you have some misunderstanding about me?"
Elizabeth retorted, "Shouldn't I have a misunderstanding about you?"
Ethan looked surprised and asked helplessly, "I don't know when I offended you?"
Elizabeth raised an eyebrow. "Don't you know what you've done?" Then she changed her tone and said meaningfully, "I find you uncomfortable and disgusting. Does that count?" Ethan was still pretending, but if he wanted to be scolded, she would oblige.
Everyone present fell silent; Elizabeth was really bold!
