Chapter 88 They Create Opportunities for Themselves

Brenda's sharp comeback made Kevin and the others turn to her at once.

Biting her lip, she said, "If we quit, it looks like we're scared of her. And it would just fuel those rumors about Eugene and me. I'm not guilty, so I'm not afraid. I'm staying in to prove Elizabeth got it wrong and clear my name."

She'd never told the Clark family about her dreams predicting the future since she was a kid.

For example, when she dreamed Paul would be set up, she had taken Betty to catch the woman in the act and stopped it.

Or when she dreamed Loren would fall, so she had shown up just in time to get him to the hospital.

She dreamed a script would be a hit, so she had had Enrique grab it from the original director.

She dreamed a song would blow up, so she had told Arnold to buy it early.

She dreamed a variety show would be huge, so she had suggested Kevin join.

She dreamed Richard's female artist would be trashed for messing with another female artist's relationship, dragging down a male artist he managed, forcing them both to retire.

So she had told Richard to strike first, framing the powerful female artist as the homewrecker, making the company drop her.

Since she was a kid, she'd been their lucky charm.

Her dreams didn't show details, just hints.

Like when she dreamed the live variety show Elizabeth was on would be a hit, making Elizabeth famous.

So she had to stop Elizabeth; if not, she'd still participate.

She also dreamed of a drama that would be big this year, so she had had Richard get her the lead role.

She'd act in it after the variety show.

As for the original lead who would've gotten famous, she had tough luck.

If Brenda got it, it was hers.

This industry was survival of the fittest.

If someone else knew in advance, they wouldn't pass up the chance either.

Even to her five closest brothers, Brenda kept her dreams a secret.

So she found other reasons to badmouth Elizabeth.

She believed the first episode was just lucky for Elizabeth, and she'd turn it around in the second episode.

She believed she was the lucky one.

Hearing Brenda, Kevin gave up on quitting the show.

He sighed, "Alright, let's keep going."

For the next episode, he'd try harder to make peace with Elizabeth.

To get her to stop targeting them.

Arnold said, "Brenda should stay, or people will think she's guilty."

Enrique added, "Yeah, keep going and clear up the misunderstandings about Brenda."

Brenda, hearing their support, teared up but smiled brightly. "Thanks, guys, I knew you had my back!"

Then the four of them squeezed onto a sofa, huddling to brainstorm ideas for Brenda to shine in the next episode.

Meanwhile, Elizabeth and Rebecca, having picked their recruits, discussed plans and resources for them.

Elizabeth knew which dramas and movies would be hits next year.

Elizabeth also knew which artists would blow up from certain variety shows.

But for herself and the three artists she was mentoring, she didn't plan to steal anyone's opportunities.

Instead of taking from others, they'd create their own chances.

Having been a producer, investor, director, and famous actress in different worlds, she could spot which dramas and movies had hit potential.

Some flopped because the actors weren't right, funding was short, or post-production was poor. They could turn these around, making them popular without taking from others.

With money in hand, they could invest in their own projects or variety shows to promote their studio's artists.

Elizabeth and Rebecca stayed up late, making a detailed plan.

The next day, they went office hunting.

Meanwhile, Herman went to see Loren.

Herman wanted to resign with his team, an intention Loren wasn't having.

When Herman insisted, Loren demanded he hand over any info he had before leaving.

Herman played the recording he had made last night for Loren, threatening to post it if they weren't let go, exposing the dark side of Clark Entertainment.

He stressed he had backups, and if anything happened to him, his friends would post it online.

Loren hadn't expected Herman to have such dirt and cursed Alvin for being an idiot.

Wary of the recording, Loren had no choice but to let Herman and his team go.

After approving their resignations and seeing them leave, he called Richard to his office.

He played the recording for Richard. "Look at what your people have done."

Richard's face darkened. "Not only did he mess around in the company, but he also treated such important matters like casual gossip. And Herman just happened to overhear it. What an idiot."

He was extremely annoyed; everything had been going wrong lately.

Loren was grim. "Let's promote a new director; we don't need such a useless person."

Then he squinted. "Herman's got guts, threatening me. Does he really think I won't touch him because of a recording? We won't lay a hand on him, but we can make it impossible for him to survive in this industry."

Richard agreed. "Since he doesn't know his place, let's kick him out of the industry."

They planned to use their connections to block Herman from other entertainment companies.

Loren said, "I'll spread the word that Herman and his team are job-hopping, and whoever takes them in is going against the Clark Group."

Richard nodded. "As long as they don't want to go against the Clark Group, no entertainment company will take them in."

Even their arch-enemy, Rex, wouldn't. After all, there was the Clark Group backing them.

They didn't take Herman seriously, planning to cut off his escape route and force him to change careers.

After a while, when Herman let his guard down, they'd retrieve all copies of the recording.

They didn't know Herman had secretly contacted three company artists after resigning.

He was meeting them at a nearby coffee shop right now, trying to recruit them to jump ship.
