Chapter 351 She Actually Discovered This Too

Elizabeth shot him a curious look. "Why are you so sure?" she asked. "Did someone tip you off?"

Zachary chuckled, "Nope, no one told me. No one in this world can control me."

Elizabeth knew Zachary well enough to know he wouldn't lie about something like this. "Did you maybe divine it?" she asked.

Zachary nodded. "You're quick. Yeah, I divined it. The chance to break free lies with you."

For years, he had tried divining once a year, always coming up empty. Then, someone mentioned a diviner who seemed otherworldly and suggested he check it out.

At first, he wasn't interested. But he gave it a shot and found out his opportunity was tied to Elizabeth. That was why he arranged that "chance" meeting with her.

He couldn't read Elizabeth's destiny or see her future. It was the first time he'd met someone like her.

Elizabeth was surprised. She had thought Zachary was being manipulated by someone behind Brenda. But now, it seemed he didn't care about that person at all. "Do you know how I can help you?" she asked.

Zachary had no bad intentions, and Wayne's letter vouched for him. So, she didn't mind helping him if she could. It would be a good deed.

Zachary shook his head with a bitter smile. "I don't know. For people like us, when it comes to important stuff about ourselves, we can only get a vague feeling. We can't divine specifics."

After that divination, he tried again but failed and got hurt from the backlash.

Elizabeth frowned. "That makes it a bit tricky."

Zachary smiled calmly. "Everything has its own timing. When the opportunity comes, we'll know. I've waited this long; I can wait a bit more."

His eyes flicked to Elizabeth's neck as he added, "Maybe when you unlock the secret of the Gemstone Halo, you'll be able to help me."

Today, Elizabeth wore clothes that just covered the Gemstone Halo. This meant Zachary sensed it himself. She had even used a Spellscroll to hide its aura. He could still sense it; impressive. She suspected he was close to being a top-level diviner. Since he had noticed, Elizabeth didn't hide it. "Zachary, do you know where this Gemstone Halo comes from?" she asked.

Zachary replied, "I only know it's a medium artifact passed down from Wayne's ancestors."

Elizabeth, having seen a lot, got it right away. "A medium artifact? Can this thing be used as a key?"

Zachary was a bit surprised. "You figured it out just from that." The more he interacted with Elizabeth, the more he realized she was extraordinary.

He added, "It can be used as a key, and it's said to contain a map. The place on the map offers an opportunity that even the highest-level diviners would be tempted by."

Top-tier diviners were the best in the game. Zachary shrugged. "As for what it is, I have no clue."

Elizabeth knew there was a map inside, thanks to a hint Wayne left in his letter. But Wayne had no idea how to activate it. He tried everything but never cracked it. He didn't mention it being a key, probably because he didn't know either.

She smiled and asked, "Zachary, how old are you?" She knew he was definitely older than Wayne.

Zachary chuckled, "You're curious about that? No harm in telling you; I'm twenty-six."

Elizabeth rolled her eyes. "Are you kidding me?"

She had already pieced together that Zachary was an "old guy." His age might even rival the ancient history of Aevum City.

Zachary extended his hand. "Why would I lie? See for yourself."

Elizabeth watched as he extended his hand, his previously concealed aura now reined in. Earlier, his sense of destiny had made him a mystery, but now she could see him clearly. She scrutinized his age closely and confirmed that he indeed appeared to be twenty-six years old.

But she made another important discovery. His age stopped at twenty-six, not as if his life had ended, but as if it had suddenly disappeared. She said, "You really are twenty-six."

Zachary withdrew his hand. "I told you I wasn't lying."

Elizabeth looked up at him, his face young and handsome, but his eyes carried a depth and sense of age. She asked, "Zachary, are you one of those legendary beings with a special immortal constitution?"

Having experienced many different worlds, she was familiar with such constitutions. Typically, this kind of immortal constitution resulted from some sudden opportunity, causing the body to mutate and remain forever at that age. They wouldn't age, and if not killed by external forces, they wouldn't die. In other words, they were immortal.

This made Zachary's calm expression change slightly, his eyes narrowing. "How do you know?"

He knew Elizabeth had been probing his age and his connection to the person behind Brenda. He had guessed she realized he had lived for many years, but he hadn't expected her to reveal his constitution.

Elizabeth said, "I happened to read about it in an ancient text." She noticed a newfound intensity in Zachary's eyes.

She shrugged as she continued, "That text has disappeared, so I can't show it to you." The text was a fabrication; she couldn't produce it.

Zachary's eyes dimmed. "That's a pity." However, he speculated that perhaps that text was the reason Elizabeth was different.

Elizabeth thought for a moment and asked, "Zachary, is your immortal constitution related to this city?"

Zachary looked at her in surprise. She had figured that out too. It seemed he had underestimated her again. He said self-deprecatingly, "Yes, but what is the use of my immortality? I still can't escape this cage." Fortune and misfortune were intertwined, reflecting his current situation.
