Chapter 59 I'll Surprise Them All
The variety show live stream kicked off, and the camera zoomed in on Elizabeth's boxing fitness..
Right away, a bunch of older folks flooded the screen with compliments.
But Eugene's fans? They were relentless, tearing into Elizabeth.
They even went after the older fans, calling them out for having bad taste and liking someone they saw as shameless and fake.
Naturally, the older fans got mad. They liked Elizabeth and didn't care who she dated.
Eugene's fans were crossing the line. What did it matter to them who Elizabeth was with?
So, they fought back.
Despite their age, they weren't afraid of a verbal showdown.
Then, fans of the divination master from last night and Elizabeth's fans jumped in.
They stood their ground against Eugene's massive fanbase.
After a while, some older fans stepped in to cool things down, telling everyone not to stoop to Eugene's fans' level.
These arguments were ruining the show for everyone else.
They were there to watch Elizabeth box, not to bicker with Eugene's fans.
It just wasn't worth it.
So, under their guidance, Elizabeth's fans stopped retaliating.
They let Eugene's fans keep ranting.
Kevin's and Brenda's fans, still buzzing from the news of their close hug and headline sibling relationship, just watched the drama unfold without joining in.
Other fans and casual viewers initially tuned in for fun.
But soon, they got annoyed. Couldn't they just enjoy the show in peace?
As Elizabeth's fans gracefully backed off, Eugene's fans kept up their arrogant tirades.
This behavior made other fans and viewers start to dislike and resent Eugene's fans.
As a result, their opinion of Eugene took a hit.
After all, an idol often pays for their fans' behavior.
In the yard, Elizabeth wrapped up her boxing fitness routine and headed inside to wash up and make breakfast.
She didn't know exactly what was happening online, but she had a pretty good guess it wasn't peaceful.
She'd been anonymously sending the paternity test screenshot to that internet celebrity at regular intervals, and they had probably posted it by now.
Raymond, as usual, woke up early to watch Elizabeth box and then helped out in the kitchen.
Arthur gave the cameraman a nod, signaling him to go film Kevin and the others who were just waking up.
With no cameras in the kitchen, Arthur walked in.
Seeing Raymond there, he hesitated for a moment but didn't ask him to leave.
After all, once the variety show ended today, the guests would get their phones back and find out what was happening online.
He walked up to Elizabeth and said quietly, "You've been dominating the headlines since yesterday and today."
Elizabeth smiled and asked, "What headlines?"
Arthur replied, "It's confirmed you're Kevin's biological sister, and someone posted the paternity test. But that headline got taken down this morning."
He added, "Now, the top headline is about your relationship with Eugene being exposed."
Elizabeth paused, clearly surprised.
She hadn't expected Richard to use her relationship with Eugene to divert attention.
It must have been with Eugene's consent.
This also showed that Richard didn't know about their breakup.
Eugene, sharing a room with Kevin, had gotten stupid too?
Two months ago, a reporter had asked Eugene if they were a couple, and he had denied it.
Now that they had broken up, he agreed to let Richard expose their relationship.
There could only be one reason: Eugene had chosen Brenda over her again.
How ironic!
She shrugged and said indifferently, "Let them be."
Since they insisted on this, she would make a clean break with Eugene.
Hearing Arthur's words, Raymond felt a surge of irritation and unhappiness.
Raymond's frustration wasn't directed at Elizabeth, but at Eugene.
Given Eugene's attitude towards Elizabeth, Eugene didn't deserve her at all.
Then, jealousy crept in.
Suppressing his jealousy, he asked Elizabeth, "Were you and Eugene a couple? Did you have a fight?"
Elizabeth nodded. "We did date before, but I broke up with him before coming here."
She emphasized, "I said on the first day that I had cut ties with him, and I wasn't joking; I was serious."
This made Raymond's mood suddenly improve. "So, you two have already broken up. No wonder you didn't seem like a couple."
He bluntly said, "I never thought you two were a good match."
Afraid Elizabeth might misunderstand, he added, "He doesn't deserve you."
Arthur agreed. "You're right."
Although people were clamoring that Elizabeth was clinging to Eugene and wasn't good enough for him, Arthur also felt that it was Eugene who wasn't good enough for Elizabeth.
A romantic relationship shouldn't be judged by who had a higher status.
Eugene had often subtly helped and protected Brenda during the live stream.
From that alone, he was despicable.
Seeing Raymond's serious expression and Arthur's approving eyes, Elizabeth smiled. "Thank you both."
Having someone choose her and stand by her side made her happy and joyful.
Arthur said, "You two continue cooking; I'll head out."
He had come in to remind Elizabeth to be mentally prepared and to think of a way to handle the situation.
Seeing her like this, she clearly had a plan.
Arthur left.
Taking advantage of the fact that the cameraman hadn't come in yet,
Raymond leaned closer to Elizabeth and said, "If you need any help, just let me know."
He promised, "I'll definitely help you solve it."
Elizabeth smiled. "Thank you for your kindness, but I can handle this."
Seeing Raymond's disappointed expression, like an abandoned puppy,
She added, "If I need help, I'll come to you."
Raymond then broke into a bright smile. "It's a deal."
He emphasized, "Don't go to anyone else, just come to me."
Elizabeth couldn't help but laugh. "Alright!"
Raymond thought for a moment and said, "You should call your agent and tell them about this. Let them prepare for public relations."
Although they had handed in their phones, Arthur didn't stop them from using the provided phones to contact the outside world.
After all, due to their professions, they needed to contact someone when faced with tricky situations.
Elizabeth shook her head. "I don't have an agent anymore. My previous agent was Richard. Before coming here, I cut ties with the Clark family and left the Clark Entertainment Company."
Raymond didn't know Elizabeth before and hadn't paid attention to her.
So, he wasn't aware of her situation with her agent.
Hearing this, he frowned. "If Richard was your agent, he definitely won't help you."
Richard would only help Brenda.
Elizabeth gave him a reassuring look. "I don't need his help. In fact, I should thank him for stirring up so much trouble."
It made it easier for her to fight back, didn't it?
"Don't worry, they can't harm me," she added meaningfully, "Let the public opinion continue to ferment. After the variety show ends, I'll give them a big surprise."
Seeing Elizabeth's confident demeanor, Raymond stopped worrying.
He blinked. "Alright, I'll wait to see how you turn the tables on them."
There was one thing he didn't say out loud.
He would be her loyal support.
If she couldn't take down those who bullied and slandered her, she could count on him.
He would prove it with his actions.
