Chapter 344 This Shouldn't Be Too Difficult, Right?

When Elizabeth saw the look on Betty's face, she knew right away that Betty wasn't going to listen to her warning. Betty just couldn't handle the truth.

Elizabeth smirked and said, "If you don't believe me, whatever. Some people just can't handle the truth. They keep getting mixed up with the wrong crowd and end up hurting themselves." She didn't want to waste any more breath on Betty, so she headed upstairs and back to her room.

Betty watched Elizabeth walk away, her face turning red with anger. She stomped off to her own room and shot a message to Amy, admitting she had failed. She tried to get the hair but got caught by Elizabeth, so she was out of the game.

Amy replied, saying it was fine, but she was secretly fuming. Betty couldn't even snag a single hair—what a loser.

The evil wizard had told Amy to get either Elizabeth's hair or blood to help take her down. After thinking it over, Amy decided to hit up Eugene, asking him to grab a strand of Elizabeth's hair.

But Eugene was suspicious. He figured Amy might be up to something shady, like consulting a soothsayer to mess with Elizabeth. So, he not only refused but also spent a good chunk of time trying to talk her out of it.

Amy was so mad she hung up on him. After cooling down a bit, she called Brenda. To her surprise, Brenda picked up.

Amy didn't hold back and told Brenda about hiring the evil wizard to deal with Elizabeth. She didn't say it was because she hated Elizabeth; she claimed it was to stop Elizabeth from bullying Brenda.

Brenda had already seen the gossip about the King Family and Amy online, so she wasn't buying Amy's story completely. But she still thanked her.

Then Amy got to the point. She knew Brenda hated Elizabeth the most right now, so she asked Brenda to find a way to get a strand of Elizabeth's hair. Blood would be even better.

Brenda did hate Elizabeth's guts. Hearing that both Betty and Eugene had failed, she didn't have much faith in Amy, but she agreed to give it a shot.

After hanging up with Amy, Brenda thought about who could help and decided on someone. She put on a hat and mask and left the fortune-telling association.

Her backers had sorted out her previous issues, so she wasn't stuck inside anymore. She could go out as long as she wasn't spotted. Soon, she'd be completely free.

As she walked into an alley, someone suddenly grabbed her and pulled her into a side alley. Brenda was startled at first, but when she saw it was her three old teammates from the competition, she relaxed. She even felt a bit happy—these were the exact people she needed. What luck!

Brenda pretended to be scared and asked, "What do you want?"

The tough-looking team leader, Larry Price, said coldly, "Because of you and your brother, we lost the competition. How are you going to make it up to us?"

Losing the competition had cost them the prize money, and they blamed the Clark siblings. They hadn't been able to find Brenda before, but now that they had, they weren't letting her go.

Brenda scoffed internally, thinking it was their own fault they lost. But dealing with people like this was easy.

She put on an innocent face and said, "It was Elizabeth's trickery that made us lose. You should go after her."

Larry sneered, "We all saw what you did. Stop pretending. We know exactly what kind of person you are."

He grabbed Brenda's chin. "So don't take us for fools."

Elizabeth was busy filming some live-streamed variety show, making it tough to catch her. Plus, she had distanced herself from the Clark Family, so she probably didn't have the kind of money Brenda did. Brenda had walked right into their hands; they'd be idiots to let her go.

Brenda realized they weren't buying her act. She cut to the chase, "Do you want money?"

Larry grinned, "You're quick."

Brenda asked, "How much?"

Larry thought for a moment before offering, "Give each of us $500,000, and we won't bother you anymore."

Brenda dropped the act and said, "Fine, but you have to do something for me." Money was no big deal to her.

Seeing Larry's face darken, she added, "If you succeed, I'll give each of you $1 million."

Larry's interest was piqued. "What do you need us to do?"

Brenda said, "Just get me a strand of Elizabeth's hair."

She paused and added, "If you can get her blood too, I'll give you $5 million. How about it? Shouldn't be too hard, right?"

With Elizabeth's hair and blood, if Amy's evil wizard couldn't take her down, Brenda could find a stronger soothsayer.

Hearing about the $5 million, the three team members' eyes lit up. Hair and blood? Easy. "Alright, we'll do it." Larry added, "But you have to pay us $1.5 million upfront as a deposit. Once we get Elizabeth's hair and blood, you can pay us the remaining $3.5 million." He didn't want Brenda to trick them. If she ran off, they'd be out of luck.

Brenda saw through his thoughts and agreed, "No problem." She got Larry's account info and transferred $1.5 million, hoping they'd get the job done quickly.

Once they got the money, Larry and his crew let Brenda go. They started planning, deciding to make their move after the variety show’s live stream ended, thinking that would be their best shot.

Over the next two days, Elizabeth and her team kept exploring Aevum City with their live-streaming audience. They found some hidden gems and new activities that weren't well-known online.

Two days later, the current episode of the live reality show wrapped up. The production team booked return flights for the guests. Elizabeth told them not to book her a ticket because she planned to stay a few more days before heading back to Clifftonshireburg. She needed to pick up something Wayne had left at the fortune-telling association.

Raymond wanted to stay with Elizabeth, but she refused. She suspected Amy had hired a sorcerer to deal with her. Once she got the item, Brenda's backers would likely be keeping an eye on her. She didn't want to put Raymond in danger.

Raymond didn't push it after Elizabeth refused. He told her to stay in touch and left with the other guests.

Eugene and Kevin didn't leave either. Kevin was going to the hospital to wait for Enrique's condition to stabilize before heading back to Clifftonshireburg. Eugene stayed because he knew Betty was in Aevum City. He was worried Betty might try something against Elizabeth, so he said he'd stick around but was really keeping an eye on her.

Zachary went back to his place in Aevum City.

That night.

After dark, Elizabeth left the hotel and headed to the fortune-telling association alone. But on the way, she was blocked by three men.
