Chapter 356 He'll Surely Be Delighted
Elizabeth grinned and said, "If you tell him about Brenda's situation, he'll be thrilled."
When Enrique wasn't being a total idiot, he could actually be pretty sharp, especially with Kevin and Paul around. If he got wind of Brenda's condition, he would know it was the perfect chance for some payback.
Eugene thought Elizabeth genuinely cared about Enrique and hadn't planned on visiting the hospital. But now, he'd do anything she wanted. "I was planning to see him today anyway. Want me to update you on his condition?" he offered.
Elizabeth shook her head. "Just go visit him, no need to keep me posted." She didn't care about Enrique's news.
Eugene just said, "Alright then."
Elizabeth didn't want to be alone with him, so she said, "You should go now, I have things to do."
Eugene knew she was trying to get rid of him. He felt hurt but forced a smile. "Alright, just be careful."
He couldn't help but add, "If you want to go back to Clifftonshireburg, you can call me to go with you." Even if there was danger, he wasn't afraid. He just wanted to be by her side.
Elizabeth could see what Eugene was thinking and felt a bit disgusted. She raised an eyebrow, asking, "Call you? Wouldn't that just be a burden for me? Eugene, why are you still so clueless?"
If she took Eugene along and got intercepted, she'd have to protect him. Plus, the other side might use Eugene against her, making things harder. A burdensome teammate was someone who was self-righteous like this.
Eugene's face turned pale at her blunt words. He forced a bitter smile and said, "I just want to stay by your side."
Elizabeth said disdainfully, "Where were you before? I don't need you to protect me, and I don't need you to worry about my safety. As long as you don't hold me back, I'll be very grateful." Amy's dislike for her was also partly due to Eugene. He had caused her no small amount of trouble.
Eugene felt so humiliated by her sarcasm that he pressed his lips together. "Don't worry, I definitely won't hold you back now." He had seen through Brenda and Amy, and naturally wouldn't help them anymore to trouble Elizabeth.
Elizabeth nodded. "That's good, goodbye!" After finishing her words, she sent him out and shut the door without a trace of reluctance.
Eugene felt a bitterness in his heart, his eyes full of sadness. He knew Elizabeth's temperament; if he kept pestering her, she would only get more annoyed. He could only turn and leave, heading to the hospital.
At the Hospital.
After finishing his business, Paul returned to Seraphin Heights. He planned to take Enrique back to Clifftonshireburg for treatment once his condition improved a bit. Kevin also came to the hospital room from the hotel.
Enrique had bad luck twice today and was now lying in the hospital bed. Every day, his resentment towards Brenda grew deeper, and he regretted his previous foolish actions.
When Eugene showed up, the Clark Family trio was pretty surprised. Kevin asked, "What are you doing here?" Given Eugene's personality and their rocky relationship, it didn't seem like he'd come to visit Enrique.
Eugene didn't mention that Elizabeth had nudged him to come. He knew she wanted nothing to do with the Clark Family anymore, so he said, "I was still in Aevum City and thought I'd drop by to see Enrique."
Even though Paul didn't think much of Eugene, he still smiled and said, "Have a seat." He even got up to pour Eugene a glass of water. After all, a guest was a guest.
Eugene chatted with Paul for a bit. Then, as if searching for a topic, he mentioned running into Brenda in Aevum City.
The Clark Family trio was shocked. Wasn't Brenda sent to the Divination Association for review by Bishop? How could she still be out and about? There were a lot of questions here!
Paul figured Eugene's visit wasn't just about Enrique. Now he got it—Eugene had come specifically to spill the tea about Brenda. So he asked directly, "Do you know how she ended up like that?"
Eugene, who was pretty disgusted with Brenda, didn't hold back. "I heard she tried to get Elizabeth's hair and blood and sent them to an evil wizard to mess with Elizabeth. Somehow, the hair turned out to be her own. So she got dealt with by the evil wizard and ended up like that." He guessed Elizabeth had switched the hair but didn't say it out loud.
His words made the Clark Family trio's faces change. Brenda was truly vicious, even hiring an evil wizard to go after Elizabeth. After saying this, Eugene didn't stick around long and left shortly after.
Once he was gone, Kevin said to Paul, "Dad, you should check Brenda's accounts to see if there have been any large transfers recently."
If she hired an evil wizard, it must have cost a lot of money. Paul nodded and immediately asked his secretary to check. Since Brenda's card was an affiliate card of the Clark Family, it was quickly found.
After reading the info, Paul's face turned very ugly. "She transferred out several million dollars in succession. And she transferred all the remaining money in her account to one account." All these years, they had been raising not a daughter, but a menace!
He gave his two sons a sharp look, saying, "From now on, none of you are allowed to give Brenda any more money." Brenda with money would only harm people. He hadn't personally given Brenda money, but he knew Betty and his sons had given her plenty.
Kevin and Enrique nodded. "Got it." They'd be fools to give her money again, letting her continue to harm people.
Paul thought for a moment and said, "Brenda brought this on herself, getting dealt with by the evil wizard. If she's in bad shape, does that mean it will be easier for Enrique to retaliate and reclaim the Generational Blessings?"
Enrique's eyes lit up. He then looked at Paul and pleaded, "Dad, could you go find Zachary to see if he can help this time." He couldn't take it anymore.
Paul was thinking the same thing and nodded. "Alright!"
