Chapter 172 How Is He Here?
During the lunch break, the live stream was paused for an hour.
Elizabeth took out three triangularly folded spell scrolls she had drawn earlier from her bag.
She put one in her pocket.
If she were to compete and someone suddenly attacked with a spell, she could use the spell scroll to block it.
She handed one each to Raymond and Gilbert, saying, "These are spell scrolls I drew. Keep them close to you."
She was also worried that someone might target them, and she wouldn't be able to protect them while she was competing.
Gilbert took the spell scroll with some confusion. "Thank you, Elizabeth!" he replied.
He didn't ask much, just believing and trusting that Elizabeth had her reasons for what she did.
Raymond took the spell scroll and asked worriedly, "Is something going to happen?"
Otherwise, why would Elizabeth suddenly take out spell scrolls, not only for them but also for herself?
Elizabeth gave him a reassuring look. She said, "It's fine."
Raymond then nodded as he reminded, "Be careful during the competition. It doesn't matter if you don't win the prize money, just treat it as having fun."
Choosing between the prize money and Elizabeth, of course, Elizabeth's safety was the most important.
Although Gilbert didn't quite understand what they were talking about, he could roughly tell that there might be some possible danger in the competition.
So he added, "Yeah, the prize money isn't important, safety first."
Elizabeth felt warm inside from their caring words. She replied, "Okay!"
The three of them chatted for a while and then leaned back on the sofa in the resting area to relax.
At 1:30, the organizer's announcement sounded in the resting area.
All participants were asked to gather at the competition venue and find the corresponding motorcycles according to the numbers on their participation cards.
Elizabeth changed into her motorcycle gear and handed her backpack to Raymond.
She confidently waved to the two of them and then turned to the racetrack.
As she left the resting area, Elizabeth was suddenly bumped into by a tall young man.
She realized that he had bumped into her on purpose and looked over. She was surprised but didn't show it on her face.
It was Percy.
Elizabeth had been with Eugene for so many years, and because Amy didn't like her, Eugene and Percy didn't have a close relationship either.
So she had never met Percy in person.
She only recognized Percy from his photos.
Percy was wearing a white shirt and dress pants, looking handsome and gentle, like a gentleman.
He was holding a phone in one hand, talking.
When he bumped into Elizabeth, he immediately apologized, "Sorry, I was on the phone and didn't notice."
Elizabeth acted like she was meeting a stranger.
She shook her head without saying anything and was about to leave.
Percy said something to the person on the phone and hung up.
He blocked Elizabeth and asked, "Miss, are you okay?"
Elizabeth looked at him indifferently and replied, "I'm fine, but if you're trying to hit on me, you should consider the occasion."
She looked like she wasn't interested in him.
Percy couldn't help but laugh. He said, "You misunderstood."
Then he made a gesture for her to proceed, and said, "Please! Ladies first."
Elizabeth nodded to him and walked forward.
As she passed by Percy, she suddenly heard him whisper, "Be careful!"
Before Elizabeth could react, Percy had already walked away.
Elizabeth kept her expression the same, didn't turn around, and continued walking forward.
She was puzzled as to why Percy suddenly appeared here.
What did his warning mean?
When they passed by each other, she had been on guard. But besides the warning, Percy didn't do anything else. However, her sense of caution increased.
After Elizabeth arrived at the venue, she carefully checked the motorcycle assigned to her and found no issues.
Before the competition started, she transferred a wisp of Karma from the pendant around her neck to the spell scroll.
This was a divination artifact given to her by Wayne, containing a strong Karma.
However, it needed to be activated to protect her from sudden spells.
Seeing Percy out of the blue, whether his warning was out of kindness or with a purpose, indicated that someone would definitely try to harm her during the competition.
Having an extra layer of protection was safer.
While Elizabeth was preparing, the other two groups also arrived one after another.
The production team suggested they sit together to watch the competition for better recording.
Elizabeth had one live stream, and they had another.
So Eugene's group, who originally planned to find a separate place to watch the competition, sat in the seats behind Raymond's group.
The production team had communicated with the organizers, who agreed to let them live stream.
At 2 o'clock, the participants got on their motorcycles. As the organizer's signal dropped, all the motorcycles sped off.
The competition venue was specifically designed for motorcycle training and racing, with flat roads but many curves.
Protective measures were in place on both sides of the road.
After Elizabeth sped off, she and a few other motorcycles rushed to the front.
On the large screen in front of the audience, drones were live streaming the participants' situations.
Raymond and the others, along with the live stream viewers, watched the large screen intently.
After several curves, Elizabeth patiently overtook the people in front one by one.
Soon, she and another participant were neck and neck, competing for the lead.
It looked thrilling and dangerous, especially on two curves where the motorcycles leaned heavily on their sides as they maneuvered into the turns, coming very close to each other, almost colliding.
While riding, Elizabeth was also making preparations.
At the last curve, she noticed wisps of evil energy rising from the ground, suddenly enveloping her motorcycle.
At this moment, the motorcycle seemed to skid and fall, sliding forward.
Elizabeth tilted with the motorcycle, almost touching the ground.
From the large screen, it looked like she was about to crash out of the race track.
Raymond and the others were tense and worried, while only Brenda couldn't help but feel excited.
Sure enough, Brenda never missed the opportunity to spite.
'Elizabeth, that bitch, wanted to show off, but we had to agree first,' Brenda thought to herself.
At such a high speed, and on a curve, she would definitely get hurt if she fell.
Hopefully, just as Brenda cursed.
At this moment, the live stream viewers were also worried for Elizabeth.
Just when everyone thought Elizabeth would crash, she suddenly performed a beautiful drift.
Not only did she not crash, but she also passed the last curve.
What shocked them even more was that Elizabeth used this skillful drift to stylishly and coolly overtake the motorcycle in front.
The heavily tilted motorcycle gradually lifted from the ground, returning to a normal riding state.
Then she sped past the finish line.
Moments later, cheers and applause erupted at the scene.
Clearly, many people were impressed and amazed by her maneuver.
Raymond and the others couldn't help but stand up and cheer.
Only Brenda's eyes were filled with disbelief.
How did Elizabeth avoid the evil energy and still come in first?
How was that possible?
