Chapter 213 You Ungrateful Sons

Raymond had shared another flurry of photos.

The two groups were having a blast, grilling seafood on the yacht. Everyone looked like they were having the time of their lives.

But Raymond wasn't the only one getting in on the action this time.

Nancy and Natalie had caught the social media bug too.

They'd posted a slew of gorgeous shots, all featuring them hanging out with Elizabeth.

There were snapshots of them posing on the yacht, splashing around in the sea, fishing off the side, and gathered around the grill.

Every photo radiated pure joy and energy.

The kicker? Elizabeth looked like she was having an absolute ball.

She'd even rolled up her sleeves and whipped up several mouthwatering seafood feasts. Just looking at the pics was enough to make your stomach growl.

Arnold couldn't help but voice his frustration.

"Raymond looks like he's had the most to eat. How about he just chokes on it?" he grumbled.

Kevin chimed in, "Yeah, he could at least choke on something. That guy's always trailing after Elizabeth. He's got no shame."

Arnold's eyes lingered on a photo of some curry shrimp, his stomach growling with envy.

"Elizabeth's cooking is still top-notch," he sighed.

Enrique, overhearing, looked intrigued. "Let me see those."

Kevin didn't hesitate to hand over his phone. "Check it out."

He thought, 'They can't be the only ones suffering, right?'

Betty glanced at Arnold with a clear message.

Arnold quickly handed the phone to her.

After a quick look, Enrique's appetite vanished. The food in front of him suddenly seemed unappetizing.

He longed for Elizabeth's cooking.

Betty, however, was more focused on the group photos Nancy and Natalie had posted. Seeing Elizabeth so happy and carefree on the water, she couldn't hold back her tears.

"Here I am, lying in a hospital bed, and not only does she not come to see me, but she's out there having a blast. She really doesn't care about me as her mother."

The photos made Betty finally accept the painful truth: Elizabeth had moved on from her. It was a blow she hadn't anticipated.

Her words left the three brothers momentarily silent.

They didn't know how to respond; the truth was hard to face.

They were feeling the sting too. If Elizabeth didn't care about Betty, they figured she probably felt the same about them.

They didn't understand how things had spiraled out of control so badly.

Enrique frowned. "This is outrageous. Does she really think cutting ties means she can just erase us from her life?"

He'd always believed that blood was thicker than water and that no issue was insurmountable for family. Now, it seemed Elizabeth was proving him wrong.

Betty's frustration mounted. She hurled her bowl at Enrique, splattering him with food.

Enrique jumped up, startled and angry. "Mom, what the hell?"

Betty was losing it. First, she'd thrown a water cup at him last night, and now it was a bowl.

She stormed over to the corner of the room, grabbed a mop, and marched back toward Enrique. "What do you think I'm doing?

"If it weren't for you lot targeting Elizabeth just to please Brenda, she wouldn't be so hurt that she's even ignoring me.

"If you hadn't caused all this mess, maybe she'd still care about her own mother."

Betty couldn't hold back any longer. As she struck at Enrique with the mop, tears streamed down her face. "She doesn't even want me as her mother anymore!"

It wasn't just Enrique who took the brunt of her frustration—Arnold and Kevin were also caught in the crossfire.

"You worthless bunch! If it weren't for you, Elizabeth would be here with me in the hospital right now," she yelled. You're always stirring up trouble. How did I end up with such ungrateful sons?"

Betty poured all her grievances and pain onto her three sons. Arnold and Kevin, who had been watching Enrique get hit, now found themselves on the receiving end of Betty's wrath.

They were in agony, and their complaints were incessant. They felt miserable, especially Arnold, who regretted coming on this show more than anything. If he could turn back time, he wouldn't have come near this circus.

It made sense now why Richard, with all his cunning, had wanted him to come—perhaps just to see him in this wretched state.

Enrique felt utterly wronged. He thought, 'It wasn't just me going after Elizabeth—why is she focusing all her anger on me?'

'And now, it's all turned into our fault. She's acting like it's just us brothers who've done wrong, like she's blameless."

He glared at his mother as he spoke, "If you hadn't been such a problem, do you think Elizabeth would've stayed away from the hospital?"

Arnold and Kevin shared his frustration. They were indeed at fault, but Betty wasn't exactly innocent either.

"Yeah, Mom, enough is enough," they chimed in, trying to fend off the blows.

"As Elizabeth's mother, you didn't protect her; you showed favoritism toward Brenda. We learned that from you. You always said Elizabeth was the problem, but look at you now, you're acting exactly the same."

Betty was mortified, and her chest tightened with the weight of embarrassment. This was the last thing she wanted to admit, but her sons had hit the nail on the head. In her eyes, they were nothing but ingrates.

Her blood pressure spiked again, causing her to feel weak and dizzy. Her face went pale as she dropped the mop and leaned against the bed, struggling to catch her breath.

The three brothers looked on in alarm.

"Mom, what's wrong?" Kevin asked, panic evident in his voice.

Without hesitation, Kevin ran to call for a doctor.

When the doctor arrived, he treated Betty and then gave the Clark family a stern talking-to. He warned them not to further upset Betty, as another fainting spell could be very dangerous.

The three brothers, now thoroughly chastened, could only endure the lecture in silence. They knew better than to speak their minds further—if Betty collapsed again, the blame would fall squarely on them.

Once Betty was settled back in bed, she fought to suppress her anger, determined not to worsen her condition. Yet, she couldn't stop the tears from streaming down her face. She thought, 'What have I done to deserve such a predicament?'

The three brothers, seated beside her bed, found themselves unable to eat. Enrique, who had originally planned to finish his meal and then visit Brenda, was now too anxious to leave. Instead, he kept his head down, furiously typing a message to Brenda.

Betty, after crying for a while, noticed the incessant pinging of Enrique's phone and saw him typing away. Her patience snapped.

With a steely gaze, she said to Arnold, "Hand me Enrique's phone."

Arnold, eager to avoid further conflict, swiftly grabbed the phone from Enrique's hands before he could react and handed it over to Betty.

The phone was still unlocked, displaying the chat screen. Betty skimmed through the messages and, her face darkening with anger, yelled at Enrique, "Here I am, in this state, and you're still chatting with Brenda, trying to comfort her? You ungrateful son. Do you value Brenda more than me? You've truly disappointed me. I'm at my wit's end with you."
