Chapter 288 Curious to See His Choice
Kevin and Eugene were so fed up with Enrique that they didn't even wanna talk to him anymore.
Kevin decided to switch gears.
Out of nowhere, he remembered something and asked, "Hey, Mr. Murphy's taking us to the market later. What if we see something we wanna buy?"
Their phones were confiscated, so they were broke.
Others chimed in, "Yeah, what if we wanna buy stuff?"
Everyone turned to Arthur, who was chilling in the corner.
Arthur thought for a sec and said, "How about I bring my assistant along? If you see something you like, our production team will cover it first. You can pay us back after the show."
Giving their phones back was a no-go.
Elizabeth grinned and said, "Sounds good. Thanks, Arthur."
Arthur waved it off. "No biggie."
He was curious too and wanted to check it out. After hearing Zachary talk about the market, he had his assistant dig up info on this fortune-telling market. It turned out, you needed a connection to get in; otherwise, you wouldn't stumble upon it, and they wouldn't grant you entry.
Enrique, eavesdropping, asked Kevin, "Why do you call him Mr. Murphy?"
Kevin replied, "Guess we forgot to introduce him. Our new guest is a fortune-telling master. So, Mr. Murphy it is."
Elizabeth added, "Yep, he's a top-notch fortune-telling master and also my senior."
Knowing Enrique, he'd probably ask Zachary to fix his bad luck. She was curious about Zachary's reaction.
Elizabeth hadn't brought this up before, so everyone was pretty taken aback since they never imagined she had this kind of connection with Zachary.Sure enough, Enrique's eyes lit up. He looked at Zachary and said, "Mr. Murphy, can you help me out? I know you guys have rules and charge for looking at someone's destiny. I'll pay you after the show."
His bad luck had driven him nuts. The bracelet Brenda gave him helped, but he wanted a permanent fix.
Since Elizabeth wouldn't help, he'd go straight to another powerful fortune-teller right in front of her.
Zachary, being Elizabeth's senior and praised by her, had to be legit.
Upon hearing Enrique, Brenda, seated next to him, felt her heart race. She cursed Enrique in her mind, thinking he was like a walking microphone; why ask now?If he wanted Zachary to check his destiny, couldn't he ask privately?
She also wondered if Zachary was really that good.
But considering the live broadcast, even if Zachary saw something, he probably wouldn't say it, right?
Zachary was a bit taken aback; he didn't expect a guest to ask him to check their destiny. He thought for a moment and asked Arthur, "We're live. Can I do this?"
Arthur, always looking for buzz, smiled and said, "Of course. Plenty of live streams do destiny readings. No rules broken."
His message was clear: go for it.
Enrique added, "Mr. Murphy, it's all good."
Zachary smiled and said, "As long as it's cool, I'm game. Since we're on the same show, it's fate. I'll help you out. But my fee for a destiny reading is $2.5 million per session. Fixing bad luck costs extra."
Then he asked, "You sure you want me to check your destiny?"
Everyone was shocked. 'Is it really that pricey to check destiny now? That's wild.'
Elizabeth chimed in, "With his skills, that price is fair in the fortune-telling world."
If Zachary was really top-tier, even $10 million a session would have the rich and powerful lining up. And it'd still be up to him if he wanted to do it.
Zachary nodded, saying, "My starting price has always been this."
Enrique was floored, asking, "So, if I want to fix it, how much would that run me?"
Zachary replied, "Depends on the issue, but it won't be less than $2.5 million." Anything less, and he wouldn't even bother. At his level, he was way past caring about money. Tons of rich folks came to him with cash, but it all depended on his mood, and he turned most of them down.
Now, since he was on this show and Enrique brought it up, he decided to roll with it.
Hearing the price, Enrique, though thinking it was steep, was even more convinced of Zachary's real deal skills.
Elizabeth had sold Spellscrolls to Richard and the others for $2.5 million each. The kicker was, even when he wanted to buy one for $2.5 million, she wouldn't sell it to him.
So he told Zachary, "No problem, I'll pay you after the show. Please help me out."
Zachary's eyes locked onto Enrique's face.
Everyone else was glued to the scene.
The live stream audience was also watching intently, no one even commenting.
Zachary just took a good look at Enrique and knew everything. He said, "Everyone knows your background. The first twenty-some years of your life were smooth sailing, so I won't go into that."
He continued, "The turning point in your career came when you snatched someone else's opportunity. You jumped on something before they could, and you hit it big. After that, you got both fame and fortune."
Hearing this, Enrique believed in Zachary even more.
After getting into the industry, he had followed Brenda's advice and, ahead of another director, bought a script. Once produced, the film blew up, making him the youngest hotshot director around.
Only he and Brenda knew about this.
Brenda was also taken aback; it seemed Zachary really had some chops. She wondered if the Generational Blessings would be exposed. 'That shouldn't happen, right?' she thought.
Seeing Enrique not denying it, everyone knew Zachary was spot on. At the same time, they thought even less of Enrique's character.
Their curiosity was piqued, and they wanted to hear more.
Zachary went on, "Have you been super unlucky lately? Choking on water, getting food stuck, tripping while walking, that kind of stuff?"
Enrique nodded. "Yeah, I've been really unlucky. Can you see why?"
When he asked this, Elizabeth zeroed in on Zachary. She could see the link between Enrique and Brenda through the Generational Blessings. With Zachary's skills, he could definitely see it too. She just didn't know if he'd spill the beans.
Zachary told Enrique, "Because you gave away a third of your Generational Blessings."
He glanced at Brenda and added, "You gave your Generational Blessings to her, right? Her Generational Blessings were almost gone, so she asked you for some, and you agreed. Since you two had a connection, once you agreed, the Generational Blessings transferred to her."
He pointed to the bracelet on Enrique's wrist, saying, "The reason things have been going your way lately is all thanks to this bracelet."
Enrique looked at Zachary in shock, saying, "You really are amazing."
It was also an admission that he had given his Generational Blessings to Brenda.
Brenda's expression froze, a tinge of fear creeping in. She silently cursed Enrique, worried about the potential judgment from others after his sudden confession. So she put on a shocked face and asked, "Oh, it really works like that? I heard from a friend that if you're unlucky, you can ask someone close to lend you some luck. That way, you won't be so unlucky."
Then she acted all surprised, explaining, "But she didn't tell me that borrowing luck would make the lender unlucky!"
