Chapter 70 Elizabeth Did This on Purpose to Hurt Him
Raymond hadn't expected Eugene to ask to switch seats as soon as he got on the plane.
Raymond looked up and asked, "Eugene, didn't you check the mirror before getting out of the car?"
Eugene was confused. "What do you mean?"
Raymond raised an eyebrow. "See if you have any shame."
Eugene paused. "Raymond, don't push it. I need to talk to Elizabeth, so switch seats."
Raymond thought Eugene's shamelessness was off the charts.
He sneered, "You want to switch seats to talk to Elizabeth? Did you ask her?"
Before Eugene could answer, Elizabeth, engrossed in her phone, didn't even look up.
She said, "I don't agree."
Raymond shrugged at Eugene, "You heard her, she doesn't want to sit with you."
Eugene got anxious and looked at Elizabeth. "Elizabeth, I really need to talk to you."
He pleaded, "Just for a moment, okay?"
Elizabeth looked up. "Sorry, we're not that close, so no. If we sit together, people might misunderstand. I don't want to make headlines with you again."
Her words dripped with sarcasm.
Eugene got the hint. She must have found out their relationship being exposed was their doing.
"Three minutes, just give me three minutes, okay?" He took a deep breath. "I need to explain some things."
Elizabeth shifted her gaze and picked up a magazine. "I'm not interested in your explanations."
Her attitude made it clear she was done with Eugene.
Elizabeth HAD never realized Eugene could be this annoying.
Eugene felt hurt by her words and actions.
But he knew if he didn't explain things today, they might really be over.
He insisted, "There's a big misunderstanding, I just want to clear it up."
Elizabeth kept flipping through the magazine, ignoring him.
Raymond took out his phone, clicked on the pictures posted online, and handed it to Eugene.
"Eugene, you're wearing a matching pendant with another woman and now putting on a show. What's the point? You're a superstar with millions of fans. Why make a scene?"
Eugene looked at Raymond with disgust.
He pushed Raymond's hand away. "My matters with Elizabeth have nothing to do with you."
Eugene and his group were the last to board, and everyone else was already seated.
Now, everyone in first class was curiously looking over.
Some were even secretly recording with their phones.
Kevin, sitting nearby, listened to their conversation.
He watched Elizabeth's reaction.
After a moment, he got up and put an arm around Eugene's shoulder.
"Eugene, since Elizabeth doesn't want to listen, stop bothering her."
He tried to lead Eugene to another seat.
But Eugene shook off Kevin's arm.
He gave him a cold look. "It's none of your business either. Now you want to play the caring sibling? Do you think Elizabeth will pay attention to you?"
He was also annoyed with Kevin, who kept ruining his plans.
Kevin hadn't expected Eugene to say that.
He was infuriated.
He glanced at Elizabeth, still flipping through the magazine, feeling a bit hurt.
He retorted, "I'm not acting; we really are close siblings."
Raymond burst out laughing.
He looked at Kevin and said, "You should check the mirror too. No wonder you two get along; you're equally shameless!"
Kevin's dislike for Raymond grew. "What's it to you?"
Raymond pointed to his seat. "You're blocking my way!"
A flight attendant came over, reminding Eugene and Kevin to return to their seats.
Eugene didn't care anymore.
He leaned on Raymond's seat and bent down.
He whispered to Elizabeth, "There's nothing between Brenda and me. I was asked to take care of her. Those intimate photos are fake."
He explained what had happened when the photos were taken, such as Brenda's fall that day.
Then he added, "The couple pendants weren't from me. Mine was a gift from an elder, said to be blessed, so I wear it often. Brenda's was also from that elder. We didn't know they were couple pendants until someone posted it."
Seeing Elizabeth still unresponsive, he urgently added, "We met privately because that elder asked me to bring her something. Elizabeth, you know me. I'm not stupid enough to wear matching pendants with Brenda and get caught."
He spoke gently, "It's all a misunderstanding. Please believe me."
The passengers watching thought, 'Maybe it really was a misunderstanding? Why would a star like Eugene lower himself to explain and beg for forgiveness?'
Raymond hadn't expected the usually proud Eugene to say such things either.
He rubbed his arms and shivered, cringed by his performace.
Then he looked at Eugene with admiration. "I'm shocked. No wonder you're the best actor; your acting is impressive."
Eugene was silent, suddenly wanting to throw Raymond off the plane.
This jerk was too evil.
He looked at Raymond with cold eyes. "Shut up."
Raymond was about to retort.
Elizabeth looked up and coldly said to Eugene, "Eugene, are you done acting? You said all this in front of everyone to create a devoted image and clear up online rumors?"
She smirked sarcastically, "An elder gave you couple pendants and asked you to keep giving each other things. Isn't that acknowledging you as a couple? You tell me there's nothing between you two. You didn't know. Do you think I'm that stupid?"
She added, "Besides, we've already broken up and cut ties; you're saying all these to the wrong person."
Eugene's eyes widened.
With disbelief and hurt, he looked at her. "You think I'm acting?"
He offered his true feelings, only to be told it was an act.
Elizabeth laughed. "What else? If you were really that devoted, why didn't you show it earlier? I never saw you like this before!"
Elizabeth knew someone was recording, so she deliberately smiled helplessly. "You live up to your status. If I didn't know you so well, I might have believed you."
Eugene stared at Elizabeth. "You're quite the mastermind!"
Now he understood, Elizabeth was doing this on purpose to hurt him.
Elizabeth shrugged indifferently. "I know my worth, but you no longer have the chance to have someone as good as me."
Then she made a gesture. "Eugene, your performance is over, and the plane is about to take off. Please follow the rules and return to your seat."
Eugene was now both angry and heartbroken, his expression suppressed, feeling a sense of defeat and confusion.
How did she become like this?
