Chapter 436 Elizabeth's Sharp Words

Elizabeth looked at Percy and pushed a bit more. "Has he been acting weird around you?"

Percy thought for a second and frowned. "I don't know if it's just me, but when I was staring at him and he noticed, his look was kinda... complicated. Like he saw me as something broken he wanted to get rid of but couldn't. It gave me chills."

Elizabeth's voice turned serious. "It probably wasn't just your imagination. He must've noticed you staring and figured something out. Before you woke up, I already suspected he might be the mastermind. Now he's offering to detoxify Zephyr. I think he's in a rush for some reason, which is why he's showing his hand, not even caring about being exposed."

Percy thought for a moment. "When we saw him earlier, they said he just came out of seclusion. Our instruments revealed that his aura was chaotic, and his life force seemed diminished. Maybe that's why he exposed himself?"

Elizabeth remembered Ethan suffering several backlashes, with his Generational Blessings and lifespan being cut short. Maybe he was running out of time and couldn't wait any longer.

She nodded. "That could be it. Let's wait for feedback from the Anderson family."

Percy and Alaric nodded. "Okay."

Ethan's identity was too special, so Alaric had to confirm it before reporting it.

The three of them sat analyzing while watching the surveillance on the computer. But there was no movement in the video.

About half an hour later, Leon called, and she answered, "Mr. Anderson, what's up?"

Leon knew she was pretending not to know. He said, "Elizabeth, Betty invited the president of the Divination Association to detoxify Zephyr. But we don't really understand it, so we wanted to ask you to come and help. Can you come to the hospital now?"

Elizabeth replied, "Sure, I'll be right there." She was eager to get involved.

After hanging up, Elizabeth told Percy, "You rest up, we'll handle the rest."

Percy nodded. "Okay. Even though Ethan's aura is chaotic, he feels really strong. In front of him, I feel like an ant he could crush anytime. So be careful." He had a sixth sense that was always spot on.

Elizabeth smiled. "Thanks for the heads-up. I'll be careful."

Ethan's strength was undeniable; otherwise, he wouldn't have been able to set up so many schemes. She could easily kill someone now too, but doing so would bring Celestial Condemnation.

So, being a high-level diviner didn't mean they could do whatever they wanted. This was also why Ethan couldn't just kill Percy and Ryan directly.

The hospital where Zephyr was staying wasn't far, so Elizabeth drove herself over. On the way, she received a call from Paul. "Elizabeth, I need to tell you something. Are you available?"

"Go ahead," Elizabeth replied.

Paul continued, "The stuff you asked me to dig into is almost clear. Every few decades or so, there are these once-rich families that suddenly get super unlucky. The people in charge start screwing up left and right, and the whole family just crashes and burns. I could only trace back about a hundred years, but I found about a dozen families like that. They were from different regions, all had strong Generational Blessings, and had been around for a while. Since families rising and falling is pretty normal, no one really noticed anything weird or connected the dots."

Paul paused and added, "I also found that these families had cases of fake daughters, adopted daughters, or leaders being blinded by love. Want me to send you the info I found so you can check it out?"

Finding this stuff had made Paul pretty anxious. If he hadn't looked closely, who would've thought that the downfall of these wealthy families was actually planned? If Elizabeth hadn't figured it out and exposed Brenda and the divination master hired by the Clark Group, the Clark Family would've ended up just like those families. His sons would've had their Generational Blessings drained and faced constant bad luck. Eventually, he would've made some dumb decisions, leading to the Clark Group's bankruptcy.

Elizabeth wasn't surprised by this. She said calmly, "Okay, send it to my email." It seemed like Ethan had been living off others' Generational Blessings.

Then she asked, "By the way, do you know your wife invited Mr. Sanders from the Divination Association to detoxify Zephyr?"

Paul was stunned. He replied, "I didn't know about that. How did she even know Mr. Sanders from the Divination Association? Brenda must've invited him." If Betty knew Ethan, she wouldn't have done the dumb thing of transferring the poison bug.

Elizabeth thought for a moment and decided to warn Paul. "Yeah, Brenda set it up. That Mr. Sanders might be Percy and Brenda's real father. So you should contact Mr. Baker and be careful."

Paul was shocked. He muttered, "Mr. Sanders is the mastermind? But thinking about it, he does have the skills. I heard he's been the president of the Divination Association for a hundred years, so the timeline fits. No wonder he's over a hundred years old and still so energetic; he's been extending his life by draining others' Generational Blessings."

Elizabeth cut in, "He's at least over two hundred."

Paul was even more shocked. "He's that old." No wonder Ethan could cause so much trouble.

Elizabeth went on, "I can't be completely sure it's him yet. I'll go to the hospital and check. Anyway, you and Mr. Baker should be careful. If Betty suddenly asks you to do something, be careful."

Betty was currently very angry and easily influenced by Brenda to do something foolish.

Paul had no more hope for Betty. He replied, "Okay, we'll be careful. You too. If the opponent is too strong, don't confront him. We're here for you." He still cared about Elizabeth's safety.

Elizabeth shot back, "If I can't win, you coming along would just be a death sentence."

Paul paused, then said helplessly, "I'm just worried about you."

Elizabeth rolled her eyes. "Thanks for your concern, but I don't need it." Paul's worry made her feel awkward rather than touched.

Paul felt the sting of Elizabeth's daughter's sharp words today.
