Chapter 71 He Truly Is Her Biological Son
Elizabeth finished talking and looked away from Eugene.
She poked Raymond's arm and pointed to an open magazine. "Ever been here?"
She was flipping through a travel mag and saw a beautiful little island.
With a second chance at life, she wanted to cut ties with bad people, live longer, and enjoy life by traveling and seeing new places.
Raymond smiled. Elizabeth's poke was adorable!
He leaned in to check out the page. "Yeah, I've been there. It's a small island..."
Raymond started excitedly describing the island to Elizabeth.
Her eyes lit up with interest. "I want to go there when I have time."
Raymond quickly offered, "I know a great diving spot there. Want me to take you?"
Elizabeth, seeing Raymond as a friend, agreed. "Sure, let's ask Nancy or some friends to join us."
A group trip would be fun.
Raymond preferred going alone with Elizabeth but knew it wasn't possible.
If someone snapped a photo, it could spark relationship rumors.
He wasn't worried about himself but didn't want it to affect her.
He sealed the plan. "Ok. It's settled then."
He glanced at Eugene, who was still hanging around. "Eugene, why are you still here? Haven't finished your act?"
Eugene was about to respond when a flight attendant asked him to return to his seat for takeoff.
He swallowed his words, nodded to the attendant, and went back to his seat.
He closed his eyes, pretending to sleep, but could still hear Elizabeth and Raymond's excited trip planning.
What stung was that Elizabeth agreed to go with Raymond so happily after their messy breakup.
Did breaking up make her this happy? He couldn't believe it.
Brenda clenched her dress, eyes dark with jealousy.
She couldn't believe Eugene would lower himself to explain and seek reconciliation with Elizabeth.
With her, he was always cold and distant, even if he played along.
So his "first love" and "true love" weren't her?
She couldn't understand and regretted scheming to make Elizabeth leave the Clark family and break up with Eugene.
If Elizabeth hadn't left and broken up with Eugene, things wouldn't be so out of control.
Kevin, who had been eavesdropping on Elizabeth and Raymond, found himself growing increasingly jealous. He hadn't spent much time out with Elizabeth before, so why was Raymond suddenly getting all the attention?
This sudden closeness between Raymond and Elizabeth made Kevin uncomfortable, seeing Raymond trying so hard to impress his sister.
After about three hours, the plane landed at Clifftonshireburg Airport.
The show's crew guided Elizabeth and the six other guests off the plane and toward the exit.
Halfway there, a cheerful female voice called out, "Elizabeth!"
Elizabeth looked up and saw a tall, beautiful woman waving at her. It was her best friend, Rebecca Baker, who also happened to be Eugene's twin sister.
The siblings used to be close, but drifted apart after Eugene returned to Clifftonshireburg.
From the first day Elizabeth met Rebecca, they hit it off and became best friends.
Elizabeth smiled in surprise. "Rebecca!"
Rebecca rushed over and hugged her tightly. "Honey, I missed you so much!"
Elizabeth hugged back. "I missed you too."
Linking arms, Elizabeth asked, "Why did you come back?"
Rebecca had a falling out with her family and followed her love abroad. In her previous life, she hadn't returned before Elizabeth's death, but they always kept in touch. Rebecca always took Elizabeth's side in fights with Eugene.
Rebecca looked concerned. "I saw the headlines. I knew you were coming back today, so I bought a ticket to fly back too. I planned to surprise you at the apartment, but I heard people talking about you and realized you have landed."
She had seen Elizabeth's troubles with Eugene and rushed back to support her.
Elizabeth felt warm inside and leaned her head on Rebecca's shoulder. "I'm fine. You're the best."
Rebecca smiled. "Of course, I'm your best friend."
Eugene was surprised to see Rebecca. Watching her and Elizabeth so close, he couldn't help but speak up, "Rebecca, did you tell the family you were coming back?"
Rebecca turned to him. "Why should I?"
Eugene frowned. "So they can prepare."
Rebecca pouted. "No need, I'm not going back."
Eugene insisted, "That's your home."
Rebecca rolled her eyes. "I don't care. I don't want to see that woman."
Eugene's frown deepened. "She is your mother."
Rebecca waved dismissively. "Don't mention her, it's annoying."
She let go of Elizabeth and walked over to Eugene, looking him up and down.
Eugene was puzzled. "What do you mean?"
Rebecca showed disdain. "I'm looking at my brother, the cheating scumbag."
Eugene's face darkened. "Rebecca, is this how you talk to me?"
Rebecca sneered. "Not only will I talk to you like this, but I'm also going to hit you."
Catching everyone off guard, she punched Eugene in the left cheek. Before he could react, she hit him again.
"Eugene, you bastard! Teaming up with shameless people to bully my Elizabeth. How dare you! Since you returned to Clifftonshireburg, you've learned nothing good, just that woman's cold and disgusting ways. Truly her son."
