Chapter 350 What Can I Do?
Larry and his crew were on their way out anyway, so they didn't care if Enrique found out. "Brenda paid us five million bucks to get Elizabeth's blood and hair. Isn't that way more generous than you? You're a rich guy, but you're so cheap. Unbelievable," he sneered.
Enrique stayed quiet; not all rich kids were idiots. Then he couldn't help but ask, "So, did you give it to her?"
Larry grinned, "Of course, how else would Brenda have given us five million? You could learn a thing or two from her." With that, he and his buddies left. After leaving the hospital, they didn't stick around. They grabbed a car and headed straight to a border town.
Once they were gone, Enrique thought for a bit and asked the nurse to call Elizabeth.
At the hotel, Elizabeth saw Enrique's call and had a pretty good idea of what he wanted. She didn't pick up. Then Enrique texted her, asking if someone had taken her blood and hair. She told him not to worry about it.
Enrique had no choice but to remind Elizabeth that Brenda was up to no good. She wanted her hair and blood, so she should be careful. Elizabeth replied with a simple "Got it" and didn't say anything more.
Even though Enrique tried to caution her, Elizabeth didn't budge. But from this, it was clear that Enrique had already gotten his hands on Brenda's blood and hair.
Elizabeth then hacked into Larry's phone. She tracked the foreign account where Larry had transferred the money and found the videos. She sent them to her email.
Next, she hacked into Larry's foreign account. Using his identity, she spread the money around, donating it to several legit charity foundations. She had checked beforehand to make sure these charities were actually doing good work and not skimming off the top.
The foreign account Larry used was anonymous, meant for shady stuff like money laundering. So once the money was moved using his identity, it couldn't be traced back. In the end, they'd just have to eat the loss.
As for those videos, Elizabeth had a pretty good guess. Once they found out the money was gone, those three would probably go after Brenda again. She was just waiting to see how Brenda would handle it when she was broke and being threatened.
Brenda definitely wouldn't want those videos to get out. So she'd either have to find a way to get more money for the trio or find a way to get rid of them. The drama was far from over.
Early the next morning, sunlight streamed in as Brenda woke up and opened her eyes. She remembered what had happened and her face twisted with anger.
She sat up quickly and realized the three had already taken off, making her furious and causing her to hate them even more. What she didn't notice was that her blood had been drawn with a needle while she was distracted.
After a shower, she got dressed and headed back to the Divination Association. She was still stuck and broke. Once she got back to Clifftonshireburg, she planned to hire someone to deal with those three and get her money back. No way could they spend that much cash so quickly.
Even though the whole thing made her feel gross and uncomfortable, she had managed to get Elizabeth's blood and hair. She sent a message to Amy, telling her to come to Aevum City to pick it up.
Amy, who was being watched by Eugene at the hotel, couldn't go herself. So, she sent her assistant to Aevum City to grab the stuff and deliver it straight to the evil wizard when he arrived. Amy decided to stick around in Aevum City, eager to see Elizabeth's downfall.
Around noon, a chubby middle-aged man arrived in Aevum City and checked into the hotel booked by Amy's assistant. Once he got the hair and blood, he immediately started his spellcasting.
Meanwhile, Elizabeth followed the address Zachary had given her to find him. Zachary lived in one of the buildings at the Divination Society's headquarters.
When he saw Elizabeth, he wasn't too surprised. "Come in."
They sat in the courtyard, and Zachary poured her a cup of tea. "Is there something you need?" he asked.
Elizabeth smiled. "Zachary, I'm planning to head back to Clifftonshireburg tomorrow. Want to come visit?"
Zachary raised an eyebrow. "Do you think I can go to Clifftonshireburg?"
Elizabeth thought, 'Just as I expected.' She looked at him and asked, "You can't leave Aevum City?"
Wayne had mentioned that Aevum City was like a cage, and she couldn't help but think of Zachary. He seemed deeply tied to the city and unable to leave.
Zachary knew she had figured it out. "Yeah, I can't leave." He glanced at her neck and continued, "Whether I can leave in the future depends on you."
Elizabeth was stunned. "Depends on me?"
Then it clicked. "So that's why you 'accidentally' met me?" she asked.
Zachary smiled. "You're very smart." That was a yes.
Elizabeth laughed. "Zachary, have you been misled by someone? Your abilities are way above mine, and you can't break free. What can I do?"
She had never felt any bad vibes from Zachary, but she was sure he knew who was behind Brenda. She hadn't understood why he approached her but didn't help Brenda. Now it made sense.
Zachary looked at her with a confident smile. "Elizabeth, don't underestimate yourself. You can do it!"
