Chapter 329 You Can Actually See This
Amy saw Caleb's Facebook post yesterday and noticed he was in Aevum City, so she hit him up.
After Amy called, Caleb kept telling her he'd handle it.
Aevum City, busy streets.
Elizabeth and her friends were setting up a stall. After a bit, a young woman in her twenties, Lydia Morrison, walked up. She sat in front of Elizabeth and smiled, asking, "Elizabeth, can you do a reading for me?"
Elizabeth smiled back. "We're live-streaming a show, so what I write down will be on paper. Is that cool with you?"
Lydia shrugged. "I don't mind." She then pulled out a hundred-dollar bill and placed it on the table.
Elizabeth asked, "Should I start with your sense of destiny and talk about your situation?"
Lydia was curious to see if Elizabeth could nail it without any info. She said, "Sure!"
Elizabeth looked at her sense of destiny and said, "Your family is loaded, and you're an only child. When you were fifteen, you almost drowned. After that, everything went smoothly for you. You graduated from college and started a successful business with friends. Now, you're your own boss. Both your family and career are doing great. In terms of love, you have a boyfriend, and you're planning to get married."
Lydia was stunned, saying, "That's true. You're amazing, you even knew about my near-drowning incident at fifteen. And you could tell that my boyfriend and I are planning to get married. We just talked about it yesterday, and even my family doesn't know yet."
She was genuinely surprised, as she had come for a reading on a whim. So it was impossible for Elizabeth to have known her situation in advance.
She had originally approached because she liked Elizabeth and saw that no one else was getting a reading. Her family had no issues, so she wasn't afraid of being on camera and thought she'd be Elizabeth's first customer.
Who would have thought that without revealing any information, Elizabeth could figure it all out? Elizabeth was truly impressive!
Elizabeth smiled and asked, "Which aspect would you like to look into?"
Lydia thought for a moment, replying, "Let's look into love. I want to know when would be a good time for my boyfriend and me to get married."
Elizabeth said, "Do you have a photo of your boyfriend? I'd like to see it before confirming."
Lydia nodded. "Yes." She then opened her phone's photo album, found a picture of her boyfriend, and handed it to Elizabeth.
After looking at Lydia's boyfriend's sense of destiny, Elizabeth sighed and said, "You won't be able to marry him."
Lydia was stunned, asking, "Why?"
Everyone else who heard Elizabeth's words also looked at her. Hadn't Lydia and her boyfriend already discussed getting married? Why wouldn't they be able to? Could it be that they would face opposition from their families?
Elizabeth said, "Because your boyfriend doesn't really want to marry you. You met online and then started dating, right?"
Lydia felt a bit panicked as she answered, "Yes, we met while gaming, then met in real life and started dating." She was puzzled, asking, "Why doesn't he want to marry me?"
Elizabeth said truthfully, "Because he's been lying to you all along. When you discussed marriage, did he find an excuse to ask you for money?"
Lydia's face changed as she responded, "He did. Yesterday, he said that if we were to get married, he would need to buy a house in my city, but he doesn't have enough money, so he wants to sell his current house. But there's still over a million dollars in mortgage that needs to be paid off before he can sell it."
She continued, "He recently invested his money with a friend and is short a million dollars. So he discussed with me, asking me to give him a million dollars first. After he pays off the mortgage and sells the house, he would pay me back. Then we would buy a house in my city."
"We've been together for almost two years, and he has never borrowed money from me before. And we have a great relationship, so I believed him and agreed." She paused then asked half-believingly, "Elizabeth, is he really lying to me?"
Elizabeth could see that Lydia really liked her boyfriend, but the reality was harsh.
Taking a deep breath, she disclosed, "Yes, he's lying to you. From his sense of destiny, I can see that he is married. And he is about to have a child. It is probably why he plans to scam you out of a million dollars and then disappear."
Lydia's eyes went wide. "What? He's married?" She couldn't believe it. "No way."
Elizabeth nodded. "I can see it from his sense of destiny. You must have introduced some projects to him before, allowing him to make money. And he used that money to support his elderly parents and wife. Now that his wife is pregnant, he wants to break up with you. Between you two, he chose his wife."
"If you hadn't come to me for a reading today, you would have transferred the money to him this afternoon. Then he would take his parents and wife and immigrate to a small country, and you would never be able to contact him again. So, you can't get married, and you won't get your money back," Elizabeth added.
Lydia was completely stunned, not knowing whether to believe it or not. At this moment, two voices echoed in her mind. One voice assured her that Elizabeth was unlikely to deceive her, while the other voice hoped that Elizabeth was either lying or speaking nonsense.
The onlookers and the live-stream audience were also stunned. They clearly didn't expect this.
Elizabeth noticed Lydia's hesitation and unwillingness to believe the truth. This was normal; after all, they were talking about marriage. If someone said your boyfriend was a fraud, it would be hard to believe and accept.
So Elizabeth reminded, "You can report it to the police and ask them to check if he is married. Then you can judge whether my reading is accurate."
Lydia snapped out of it. "Okay!" Due to Elizabeth's words, she couldn't help but recall some past details that indeed seemed problematic, thus nurturing suspicions about her boyfriend. Another reason for her doubt was that Elizabeth had accurately described her situation from the very beginning, which impressed her and made it seem genuine. So Lydia called the police.
Soon, officers from the Aevum City police station arrived. They first understood the situation from Lydia. When they learned that Elizabeth had revealed Lydia's boyfriend was a fraud through a reading, they were not too shocked or disbelieving. After all, the Divination Association was located here, and they were quite accepting of divination.
Once Lydia provided evidence of her relationship with the man and his identity information, they called the station to check his marital status.
Lydia had bought plane tickets for her boyfriend during their travels, so she had his State ID number in her app. When she reported her boyfriend's identity information, the live stream was muted. They were investigating, while Lydia anxiously clutched her phone, waiting for the answer.
Moments later, the result came out. Her boyfriend was indeed married and had been for three years.
Hearing this, Lydia felt like she was about to break down. But she was even more furious at him for deceiving her emotionally and financially and making her an unwitting homewrecker. So she continued to report her boyfriend for fraud.
The onlookers and live-stream audience were once again shocked. They couldn't help but marvel at how amazing Elizabeth was to see all this.
Finally, Lydia looked at Elizabeth and thanked her, "Elizabeth, thank you."
With red eyes, she continued, "He told me that his job often required him to travel abroad for research previously. It's possible that after swindling the money, he could have feigned another trip abroad and disappeared. I might have even been worried about his safety and possibly gone searching for him. If it weren't for your help in revealing that he was a fraud, I would not only have lost money but also faced a chaotic future."
Elizabeth handed her a tissue, saying, "This is the fate. But if you hadn't come for a reading today, you would indeed have trouble because of this. You would have been running around looking for your boyfriend, then gotten into a car accident, and been severely injured and disabled. The rest of your life would have been quite difficult because of it. This is your calamity. Once you get through it, your life will be different. In the future, you will meet your true other half."
She then advised, "Today is a turning point, so I hope you will do more good deeds in the future."
Hearing Elizabeth's words, Lydia felt both scared and greatly comforted. She nodded. "Okay, I will definitely do more good deeds in the future." Today's events had altered the trajectory of her life, and she was determined to honor that change.
