Chapter 206 Serves Him Right

At this moment, Kevin and his team had just finished serving a tour group and received their translation commission.

Kevin asked Eugene and Natalie, "Let's call it a day. Do you guys want to go for coffee break?"

Eugene and Natalie were a bit puzzled. "Coffee break?" They weren't very interested and were about to decline.

Kevin deliberately mentioned, "I heard Elizabeth and her group went to a unique restaurant for coffee break, so we want to experience it too."

Hearing that Elizabeth was there, Eugene and Natalie instantly changed their minds and agreed. "Sure, let's go check it out."

Natalie smiled. "Let's have a simple dinner and stay at the same hotel as last night. We have enough money for coffee," she said.

Eugene said, "What are we waiting for? Let's go."

So the four of them took a cab to the restaurant. When they arrived downstairs, Enrique had just gone upstairs and entered. He saw Elizabeth sitting together with others, chatting and laughing.

Enrique was a well-known emerging director and didn't want to appear on live camera. So he contacted Arthur and asked him to have the staff call Elizabeth over.

Arthur only agreed to ask her; if Elizabeth weren't willing, they wouldn't force her.

Then, a female staff member walked over and whispered something in Elizabeth's ear. Elizabeth looked up toward the entrance.

She saw Enrique standing there. When he saw her looking over, he even waved.

Elizabeth wasn't very surprised that Enrique showed up. Enrique had always been fiercely protective of Brenda.

In the past, he also targeted her the most because of Brenda. Now that Brenda was injured, she must have cried to him, asking him to accompany her.

Elizabeth had a pretty clear idea why Enrique was here—probably to lecture or question her about the situation.

After pondering for a moment, Elizabeth said something to Raymond and the others before standing up and walking over to Enrique. She made her way to him with a purposeful stride, deciding she wouldn't mince words.

Elizabeth coldly asked, "What do you want from me?"

Enrique bristled at her icy tone. It was the same at home; when she bullied Brenda, and he blamed her, she would give him a cold face.

To the others, she was caring. But to him, she was an iceberg. When he asked her to help with physical therapy, it depended on her mood. He originally wanted to ease the relationship by asking her to help choose an auspicious date for his movie's start.

Then they argued over Brenda, and it ended unpleasantly. After that, their relationship became even more strained.

He cleared his throat, trying to keep his frustration in check. "I just want to ask, why did you do that to Brenda..."Before Enrique could finish, Kevin came rushing in and interrupted him.

"Enrique, what are you doing here?" Kevin asked as he sprinted over.

Enrique looked at him in confusion, thinking, 'Haven't we just spoken on the phone?' He started to reply, but Kevin quickly threw an arm around his shoulder and said, "We haven't seen each other in ages. Let's catch up over there."

He then turned to Elizabeth with a grin. "You're busy, so we'll leave you to it."

As Enrique tried to speak again, Kevin firmly steered him away. Enrique, having arrived upstairs first, was relieved that the live camera crew was still downstairs. Otherwise, Enrique's questioning would have already been on air.

Elizabeth watched Kevin drag Enrique off and couldn't help but smirk. His timing was impeccable. There would be plenty of opportunities to deal with Enrique later, so she didn't let it bother her. She settled back into her seat.

In a secluded corner, Enrique shrugged off Kevin's arm, his irritation palpable. "What's the big idea?"

Kevin pulled Enrique behind a large potted plant, effectively avoiding both Elizabeth's live stream and the camera crew that had just arrived.

"Of course I'm here to stop you," Kevin whispered.

Enrique was taken aback. "Stop me? Are you out of your mind?"

Kevin rolled his eyes. "No, you're the one who's lost it. Dad sent me."

Enrique's eyes widened in surprise. "Dad sent you? Is that for real?"

Kevin shot back, "Of course it's real. Do you think I'd lie about that? And not just Dad. Mom's coming, too. She should be landing soon." Betty had called him before boarding the flight.

Enrique's expression shifted. "How did they find out I was here?"

He shot Kevin a suspicious look. "Did you guys rat me out?"

Kevin, looking offended, said, "Of course not. It's not like us to do that."

Admitting it was out of the question.

Kevin continued, "Brenda's in the hospital, and you're here on a little getaway. It's pretty obvious Dad figured it out. He even guessed you'd be causing trouble for Elizabeth. So he told me and Arnold to come and stop you."

Enrique's face showed his discomfort. "Dad sure knows how to make predictions."

He then asked, "And what's Mom doing here?"

Kevin replied, "She's here to take Brenda home and look after her."

Kevin chose not to mention that their main objective was to bring Enrique back.

Enrique sighed in relief. "Looks like Mom really cares about Brenda, too."

Kevin gave a nonchalant shrug. "Well, of course. She's taken care of Brenda for years."

He nudged Enrique. "Let's get going. I'll drop you off downstairs so you can pick up Mom from the airport and then take her to see Brenda."

If it were just Kevin trying to stop him, Enrique would have ignored him and continued to find Elizabeth. But with his parents involved, he had to rethink his plans. He figured if he couldn't sort things out with Elizabeth this time, he could always come back on his own for the next show.

He followed Kevin downstairs and was quickly ushered into a car. Watching Enrique leave, Kevin let out a sigh of relief. 'Finally, Enrique is out of the way.'

Kevin was relieved, but he knew the next episode of the show would give Enrique a real taste of Elizabeth's fury. With Enrique's knack for drama, the outcome might be even worse than Arnold's.

Heading back upstairs, Kevin found Natalie had already joined Elizabeth's table. She was sitting next to Elizabeth, looking starstruck as she chatted with her.

Meanwhile, Eugene and Arnold were by the coffee station, each holding a cup and casting envious glances towards the table.

Kevin slid into a seat, giving Arnold a nod to signal that Enrique had been dealt with. The three of them sipped their coffee while eyeing the other table, feeling a pang of envy as they listened to the lively conversation.

Elsewhere, Enrique made his way to the airport and soon spotted Paul's assistant. They waited together until Betty, accompanied by her personal assistant, emerged.

"Mom!" Enrique greeted with a smile.

Betty cast him a cold glance and didn't respond. The four of them then headed to the hospital, with Betty remaining silent in the car, which only made Enrique more anxious.

When they arrived at the hospital, the sound of the door opening made Brenda quickly put on a pitiful expression.

However, her face froze when she saw who walked in.

She thought, 'Why is Mom here in person? And why is Paul's assistant with her?'

Brenda quickly adjusted her expression to one of feigned joy and surprise. "Mom, what are you doing here?"

Betty's demeanor toward Brenda was noticeably colder than before.

"I heard about your injury," she said flatly. "I'm here to take you back home for recovery."

With a note of authority, she added, "It's too late to fly out today. I've arranged for tickets tomorrow, so we'll leave then."

Brenda wasn't thrilled about going home just yet, but she couldn't bring herself to refuse. She forced a smile and said, "Mom, you're so kind to come all this way for me. I'm so touched."

In the past, such words would have pleased Betty, but now she couldn't muster any genuine happiness.

She managed a strained smile. "You're my daughter. Of course, I care about you."

After spending a short while in the hospital room, Betty claimed to be exhausted from the journey and decided to head back to the hotel to rest.

Enrique was also taken away by her, leaving only her personal assistant behind to look after Brenda.

Elizabeth and her party had switched to another luxury hotel for the day.

Upon learning where they were staying, Betty had her assistant book a room at the same place. She even watched the live feed of Elizabeth's arrival and, minutes before they got there, settled into a sofa in the hotel lobby to wait.

When Elizabeth and her group finally walked in, Betty adjusted her expression, forcing a warm and friendly smile, and approached Elizabeth.
