Chapter 135 If You Don't Believe It, Just Wait and See
Hubert heard Richard's question and smirked.
"Think I want her around? She's my dad and Melissa's spy. I keep her close to counter any moves."
His eyes darkened. "Plus, I think she's got her own issues. Better to keep an eye on her."
Richard asked, "What issues?"
Hubert dodged the question. "Did you notice anything weird between Brenda and those two masters today?"
Richard thought for a moment. "They kept asking for my blood, wanting me to choose. That seemed off."
He quickly caught on. "You think Brenda's connected to them?"
Hubert nodded. "They're definitely linked. Today, they were targeting you and Elizabeth. I was just caught in the crossfire."
He deepened his tone. "Richard, never give them your blood. They can use it for curses and other stuff. This time, they wanted it to mess with Elizabeth. You might not escape next time."
Richard was shocked. "How do you know all this?"
Hubert paused. "I almost got hurt before, so I know. We're brothers, so I'm warning you. Don't tell Brenda. Be cautious, or she'll get you without you knowing. If I hadn't signaled you today, you'd have given them your blood."
If Richard hadn't grown up with Hubert, Hubert wouldn't bother to have warned him.
Richard was speechless. "I'm not that dumb."
Hubert sneered. "You've done plenty of dumb things. I used to think Brenda was just a toy for you guys. Turns out, she's playing you."
Richard's face darkened. "If you can't be nice, shut up. You're not much better. If you like Rebecca, be with her. Why hurt her? You deserved to be hit."
Hubert sighed. "If I get with Rebecca, she'll be in danger."
Richard smirked. "You're making the same mistake as Eugene."
Hubert raised an eyebrow. "What do you mean?"
Richard bluntly said, "Your 'for her good' nonsense—did you ever ask if she wanted that?"
He sneered. "You and Eugene are the same. Acting all sentimental now, but where were you before? Elizabeth and Rebecca won't want you. Just wait."
Hubert's face darkened. "Get lost. If you can't be nice, shut up. Just drive."
Richard drove off. "You and Eugene are too self-righteous. So was I. That's why Brenda used me and Elizabeth messed me up. You won't escape either."
He sighed. "We really are brothers. Tell Eugene to come out for a drink and stop pretending to be sentimental!"
Hubert was speechless. "Say that to his face, and he'll punch you."
Richard remembered Eugene hitting him before. "He's too much. Forget it, don't call him."
They headed straight to a club to drink.
At a café, Eugene called Rebecca.
Rebecca answered angrily, "What do you want?"
Eugene reminded, "Mom's eyeing your antiques. Keep them safe."
Rebecca was surprised. "Not playing the good son today? Thought you'd be asking for stuff to give to Brenda."
Eugene frowned. "Don't be mean."
He sighed. "I've accepted it. Let Percy have Mom's love."
He suddenly felt his past efforts were foolish.
Rebecca clicked her tongue. "Finally realized, huh? Don't let Mom sweet-talk you back."
Eugene rubbed his temples. "Can you be nice?"
Rebecca said, "No."
She was about to hang up. "Got it. Thanks for the heads-up."
Eugene called out, "Wait. Is Elizabeth with you? Can I talk to her?"
He was looking at old photos of him and Elizabeth, feeling nostalgic.
Just hearing her voice would be enough.
Rebecca was speechless. "Are you out of your mind?"
"Elizabeth is here," she added, "but I won't help you. She doesn't want to hear from you. Stop bothering her. Go find Hubert and Richard. You three are destined to be lonely for your life."
Before Eugene could respond, she hung up.
Eugene was furious.
Rebecca was getting more and more infuriating.
Meanwhile, Brenda, still waiting for Amy's divination artifact, called again to nudge her.
But Amy never answered.
Finally, Amy texted saying she was called back to Baker Villa and suggested Brenda ask someone else.
Brenda, already in pain and on the verge of collapse, saw the message and blamed Amy.
Amy should have said it earlier.
She then went to Betty for help.
After a long wait, Betty finally replied.
Clark Villa had a divination artifact with lucky energy.
But Paul had told Betty not to lend it to Brenda.
Betty, upset with Brenda for causing Elizabeth and Eugene to break up and for being too close to her sons, pretended to ask Clark Villa but said they wouldn't lend it.
Brenda didn't suspect anything. She knew the elders at Clark Villa never liked her.
So it was normal for them to refuse.
She thought about who else might have such an item.
Suddenly, she remembered Rebecca had many antiques, some of which could be used as divination artifacts.
And the bracelet Rebecca wore was something even that person wanted Amy to get, so it must be better than Alfonso's.
So she called Eugene, hoping he could help.
But his line was always busy, and she found out she was blocked.
Brenda was deeply hurt. She never expected Eugene to treat her this way.
She wanted to get close to to Raymond but also liked Eugene.
Now he dared to block her, so she decided to complain to Amy and make him suffer.
Finally, unable to bear it, Brenda sent a message to a stranger's number.
What she didn't know was that her phone had been hacked by Elizabeth.
Whenever she made a call or sent a message, Elizabeth got a notification.
