Chapter 14
Elizabeth noticed the three of them staring at her.
She quipped, "Trying to make this easier on yourselves?"
In unison, they replied, "Absolutely."
Half-laughing, half-serious, Elizabeth said, "Then let's visit those households the village chief mentioned."
"We can set up times to help them out and trade our work for money or food."
Raymond nodded eagerly, "Yeah, let's ask today. We don't want someone else to beat us to it."
They had the info and couldn't let another team snatch the opportunity.
Ronald and Nancy chimed in, "Okay."
With Elizabeth leading the way, they found the households and set up times to help.
After scheduling with the last household, Nancy looked at Elizabeth with newfound respect.
Her attitude had shifted. "Elizabeth, how did you find each house so precisely?"
Following Elizabeth, every door they knocked on matched the village chief's list.
Once or twice could be luck, but five times in a row? That was skill.
Elizabeth waved the paper in her hand. "I drew a map earlier and asked the village chief about the house characteristics."
"Using the map and those details, it was easy to find the right ones."
The three of them were stunned and full of admiration.
Raymond grinned, "People always say opportunities favor the prepared. Now I get it."
He turned to Elizabeth, "Do you always take everything this seriously?"
Coming from a wealthy family, he was used to having things arranged for him.
Elizabeth smiled, "Pretty much. If I'm going to do something, I try to do it well."
From a young age, Wayne had taught Elizabeth that you could only rely on yourself and must keep learning. Taking everything seriously was a responsibility to others and yourself.
Elizabeth didn't dwell on her diligence but instead changed the subject.
"Starting tomorrow, we've got work lined up for the next few days."
Arthur's team had finished their tasks and secured their future needs, so they decided to rest.
The comments in the livestream never stopped.
From Elizabeth fixing the tractor to accurately finding each household, the tone of the comments had shifted. Skepticism turned into recognition and admiration, with the screen filled with various praises.
Moreover, Elizabeth didn't seek credit, which won over the audience even more and made them like her.
Since the two teams were separated, the production team had opened two live streams, making it easy to compare the situations.
Many fans watched both streams and couldn't help but complain here.
Brenda insisted on cooking but ended up wasting a lot of food in an already impoverished elderly household.
Not only that, but Brenda, flustered, failed to manage her expressions, frequently showing disdain on her face.
Her image began to crumble, drawing criticism from the audience and significantly lowering their opinion of her.
On the other side, Raymond's team sat in the yard, watching Elizabeth weave storage baskets from reed stalks.
Elizabeth had noticed the dried reed stalks piled in the yard and, with the production team's permission, took some to weave baskets for clothes and daily items.
The other three watched curiously and chatted idly.
When a tired Kevin and his team returned, they saw the others leisurely watching Elizabeth weave.
They suddenly felt an urge to curse. Why were these guys so relaxed?
