Chapter 9

Kevin grabbed Brenda's shoes and even helped her put them on himself.

Sure enough, the fans in the livestream were gushing about how much Kevin spoiled Brenda.

Fans of the other guests and casual viewers also thought Brenda and Kevin had an exceptionally close sibling bond.

Once Brenda had her shoes on, everyone continued their climb.

Since changing clothes was a hassle, Brenda's dress train dragged on the ground, and Kevin even held it up for her as they walked.

On the narrow, steep mountain path, it looked pretty awkward.

Even though Lisa wore flat leather shoes, walking on the mountain path in a long dress was still inconvenient and looked out of place.

Many people criticized them, pointing out that the guests knew they were filming in the countryside, yet Brenda and Lisa still dressed like that. It was pretty frustrating.

Elizabeth and Nancy's outfits were much more practical for walking or working.

After half an hour of walking, they finally saw the village.

When they entered the village, Arthur's group stopped at the gate of a farmhouse courtyard.

Elizabeth, who had been practicing boxing fitness almost daily since childhood, didn't feel overly fatigued after trekking the mountain path for over an hour.

Only Raymond, who maintained a routine of workouts and kickboxing, appeared at ease beside her.

The rest of the group was nearly spent, even Nancy, who had seemed fit at the outset.

Brenda felt as if her legs had abandoned her.

If they weren't on camera, she would have already poured out her grievances to Kevin in tears.

Now, she leaned against Kevin, her face showing she was very tired but determined to keep going.

Kevin, feeling sorry for her, put his arm around Brenda's shoulder.

"Brenda, you must be tired. I'll massage your feet once we get inside."

Brenda first glanced at Elizabeth standing nearby, then sweetly said, "Alright, thank you, Kevin!"

‘Elizabeth must have been and jealous at Kevin's words?’

‘If she were to say something unpleasant later, that would be even better.’ Brenda thought.

At that moment, Arthur pushed open the courtyard gate and, smiling, made a welcoming gesture to the eight guests.

"This farmhouse courtyard is a place our production team specially found and arranged for you to stay."

"Although it can't compare to the best houses in the village, the living conditions here are among the top ten in the village."

Hearing Arthur's words, everyone breathed a sigh of relief.

With some expectations, they all walked in.

Upon entering, they saw a courtyard with a plot of land cultivated with vegetables and a few simple rooms.

Arthur smiled and said, "The middle room is the living room and dining area, and the corner room is the kitchen and storage room."

"The four rooms on either side are for you to stay in."

"Each room is arranged exactly the same; you can go in and take a look."

Hearing this, the guests walked into the nearest room.

Then, they were stunned.

The room had only two single beds and two wooden chairs, nothing else.

Kevin looked at Arthur and asked, "Why are there only beds and chairs inside?"

Arthur smiled and replied, "What else do you need?"

Kevin said, "What about wardrobes and tables? Where are we supposed to hang our clothes? Where do we put our things?"

Arthur shrugged. "That's up to you."

"We can only provide these basics. If you want wardrobes and tables, you'll need to arrange for them yourselves."

Kevin fell silent.

He cleared his throat and said, "Such a simple environment is fine for us four men, but isn't it too harsh for the four ladies?"

Before Arthur could respond, Raymond rolled his eyes. "Since when can you speak for the rest of us guys and make decisions for the ladies?"

Raymond emphasized, "Don't speak for me."

Kevin paused. "I just don't want the ladies to be uncomfortable."

Brenda looked at Raymond apologetically. "Kevin is just looking out for us; he means well."

Then she changed her tone and said, "But if you guys can live like this, so can we."

Saying this seemed to defend Kevin, but it was really about highlighting her unpretentious persona.

At that moment, Elizabeth suddenly spoke up, "Please don't speak for me either."

For the upcoming show, she didn't plan to get along well with the Clark siblings or Eugene, so she wanted to make her stance clear from the start.

Moreover, if she kept a cold and distant attitude towards those three on the livestream, viewers might become curious about why.

They might wonder if there was some real-life grudge.

Naturally, some would dig deeper, hoping to uncover big news.

Besides, if she didn't oppose, how would Kevin jump out to protect his fake sister, Brenda, but target her, his real sister?

Upon hearing this, Arthur and the other guests were taken aback.

Elizabeth, like Raymond, spoke so directly; was she not afraid of being scolded by the viewers?
