Chapter 305 Sure Enough, She Targeted Enrique Again
Elizabeth spent another day doing makeup gigs. Then she dropped the bombshell that starting tomorrow, she was ditching the makeup gigs because she was diving into the Soule competition. After that, she'd figure out some other way to make a buck.
Fans who hadn't seen Elizabeth's makeup magic were kinda bummed. But they all promised to show up and cheer her on tomorrow.
Meanwhile, Ronald and his crew were off working as store clerks.
Everyone except Enrique and Brenda planned to grab dinner together.
At the hotel, Brenda's skin was looking rough and dark, with spots popping up on her face and hands. She slapped on some foundation to cover it up before heading out with Enrique to find a bite to eat near the hotel.
While munching, she couldn't stop thinking about what to do next.
Enrique noticed and asked, "Brenda, you still feeling off? Wanna hit up a clinic?"
Aevum City didn't have modern hospitals, just clinics. For serious stuff, you'd have to go outside the city.
Brenda shook her head. "Nah, I'm good. Still a bit dizzy, but way better." She added, "Probably just the aftereffects of that fainting spell."
Seeing her like this, Enrique started to wonder if he was overthinking things. Maybe she really was just having a reaction to blood. He said, "Let me take you back to rest. Can you still do Soule tomorrow? If not, maybe you should pull out."
If she collapsed, it wouldn't be be easy to handle.
But Brenda wasn't having it. She shook her head. "No need, I can do it."
She had to nail it tomorrow and find a way to deal with Elizabeth. She couldn't back out now. But with the Generational Blessings weakened and gone, who knew what could happen tomorrow. She needed a solid plan.
Should she really use that thing?
Enrique saw her zoning out again and asked, "You sure you're okay?"
Brenda was getting annoyed but gave him a sweet smile. "Enrique, don't worry, I'm fine. If I'm still dizzy tomorrow, I'll pull out."
Enrique nodded.
They headed back to the hotel.
Brenda wiped off her makeup and saw more spots and even wrinkles. She wanted to smash the mirror.
She needed Generational Blessings now. What to do?
If she asked Enrique again, he'd probably say no.
Too bad she was on a reality show; otherwise, she'd bug her other brothers to borrow some Generational Blessings.
For now, she had to tough it out and figure it out when she got back to Clifftonshireburg.
She took a deep breath, stopped stressing, and pulled out a gemstone pendant from her suitcase. It was a divination tool Samuel's fortune-teller buddy had sent her before she came to Aevum City.
He'd warned her not to use it lightly. It only worked if worn by someone related to her. If they wore it willingly and she used a special method, she could suck the Generational Blessings from them.
But it was risky. If it broke, the backlash would be brutal. The person she took the blessings from would suffer too.
She'd planned to give it to her other brothers, hoping to borrow the blessings nicely. But if they refused, she'd have to take it by force. Given the current mess, she had to use it sooner than planned.
She thought, 'Using it on Enrique for a few days shouldn't be a big deal, right? I mean, Enrique's already got the worst luck; a little more won't hurt. He'd only wear it for the show, and I wouldn't drain too much of his Generational Blessings, just enough to keep meself afloat.'
The more she mulled it over, the more it made sense. This pendant could only work on a few of her brothers, so Enrique was the perfect guinea pig. He doted on her so much, he probably wouldn't even hold it against her. Worst case, she'd just spend more time with him later to make up for it.
The next morning, Brenda knocked on Enrique's door.
Enrique, still half-asleep, opened the door and asked, "Brenda, we heading out this early?"
Yesterday, the other groups said they'd get to the Soule venue by ten, and his alarm hadn't even gone off yet.
Brenda smiled. "We still got two hours. I just remembered the fortune-teller who gave me the bracelet also gave me this pendant. He said it's got some Karma mojo, and wearing it would be good luck. Since you're the main player today, I thought you should have it for extra protection."
Enrique was touched.
He smiled. "I've got the bracelet to keep me safe. Aren't you still dizzy? You should wear it yourself." He genuinely cared for her.
But Brenda found him to be dragging his feet. She felt impatient but said, "I'm not dizzy anymore, so it's better for you to wear it. I'll need you to protect me."
She went on, making it clear that her actions were for his own good. If he refused, it would mean rejecting her goodwill, which would surely sadden her.
Enrique finally took the pendant and hung it around his neck, patting Brenda's head. "Alright, I'll take it. And I'll protect you today."
Seeing him like this, Brenda thought Enrique was indeed the best. She wanted to hug him but held back since they were outside the hotel room.
She rubbed her face against his hand, whispering, "Enrique, you're the best."
Enrique was so good that after she absorbed some Generational Blessings today and stabilized her condition, she thought she might as well take the pendant back tonight and give it to Kevin.
Kevin was treating her poorly now, and with Elizabeth's instigation, he probably wouldn't be willing to lend her Generational Blessings.
So she'd use this method and rely on Kevin for the next few days.
Back to the room, Brenda took out a Spellscroll, wrote Enrique's birth time on it, and burned it with a lock of his hair. She then recited a spell Samuel had taught her, silently chanting to transfer Enrique's Generational Blessings to herself.
An hour and a half later, Brenda felt much better and went downstairs in a good mood after putting on her makeup.
Enrique, after being nagged by Kevin's phone calls, finally came downstairs looking exhausted.
Kevin joked, "Rough night, Enrique? You look like you've been through a lot."
Enrique yawned, "I just didn't sleep well, so I'm not in great shape today. I should be fine once we get to the Soule venue."
Elizabeth and Zachary, sitting nearby, both looked at Enrique.
Zachary was a bit surprised and then smirked.
Elizabeth glanced at the pendant around Enrique's neck and thought Brenda had indeed targeted Enrique again. She decided not to warn him just yet. She wanted Enrique to fully experience the mess Brenda had caused before eventually revealing the truth.
