Chapter 414 This Was Interesting
Natalie really hoped Vincent could ditch Piper. Since it involved her real dad, Ethan, there were things she just couldn't say. Plus, the more Vincent knew, the more danger he'd be in.
So, Vincent only knew Piper had cheated and had three kids with someone else. But he had no clue about the big conspiracy behind it all. To Ethan, his biological kids were just pawns.
Elizabeth chimed in, "Yeah, divorce her. If she won't agree, take it to court. Once he's free from the marriage and stops using his Generational Blessings to support Piper, your dad will be free. When Whisperfade is lifted, Vincent can focus on his health and be back to normal in six months. His luck will turn around, and things will get better."
Vincent wasn't supposed to have this messed-up fate, so getting back on track was the right move.
Natalie nodded. "Got it."
She turned to Vincent, "Dad, once the Whisperfade is lifted, go ahead and file for divorce." Proposing it now might tip them off. Natalie worried Ethan might try to mess with Elizabeth's efforts to lift the Whisperfade from Vincent.
She added, "I'm proof of her cheating. Just submit the paternity test when the time comes."
Even though they didn't catch Piper and Ethan together, the paternity test would prove Piper's infidelity, allowing Vincent to file for divorce without any issues. Vincent wouldn't have to feel guilty or lose everything; Piper should get nothing. After that, Natalie would stop giving Piper any more money.
Vincent had wanted out of this marriage for a while, especially now that it affected his future. Even the nicest person would be furious after being deceived like that. He nodded. "Okay, I'll divorce her."
Then he hesitated, "But if we use the paternity test as evidence, won't it hurt your career if it gets out?" Natalie was a celebrity, and a scandal like this could lead to criticism and affect her career.
Natalie felt warm inside. Even though Vincent knew the truth, he still cared so much. She shook her head. "It's fine. If anyone should be embarrassed, it's my mom. If I get criticized, I don't care. I don't even like my job. If this makes me leave the entertainment industry, I'd be happier." She had entered the industry because Ethan had forced her; otherwise, he would've harmed Vincent.
Now that Elizabeth was helping Vincent, Natalie wasn't as scared of Ethan anymore. At worst, she'd go down with Ethan; she wouldn't let him control her again.
Vincent saw that Natalie was serious. He thought for a moment and nodded, "Alright."
After sitting for a while, Elizabeth and Raymond decided to leave. Natalie walked them downstairs.
Elizabeth kindly suggested, "If you really don't like the entertainment industry, use this chance to get out."
Natalie was a pretty popular celebrity, so if Vincent filed for divorce, the reporters would definitely sniff it out. It would eventually blow up. When people saw the news, they'd swarm like sharks and start criticizing Natalie.
Being the kid from Piper's affair was enough ammo for people to use against her. Getting targeted like that, leaving the entertainment industry might actually be a good move. It could even get her some sympathy and let her bow out gracefully.
Natalie linked arms with Elizabeth and said, "That's what I was thinking too."
Her eyes turned cold as she continued, "My mom always protected Brenda. Brenda only sees Piper as her real mom, and they've been in touch a lot. This time, I'm dragging Brenda into this mess too. I want to see how Ethan will keep protecting her."
Natalie's hatred for Ethan ran deep. She couldn't take him down, but she could definitely make his life miserable. Piper had done so many awful things; Natalie wanted to take her down too. She'd make sure Piper and Brenda got criticized together.
Elizabeth chuckled, "That's a solid plan. Brenda's bad rep will mess with the Generational Blessings, which will hit Ethan too. I can stir up some trouble and hit them both at once."
Natalie laughed, "Let's do it together." Teaming up with Elizabeth sounded like a blast.
Raymond dropped Elizabeth off at her apartment and then happily headed home.
Three days later, Elizabeth was working in her studio. Shirley brought Nicole and knocked on the door. Elizabeth stood up and greeted them, "Hey, come on in, have a seat!"
The three of them sat on the sofa. Shirley and Nicole first reported their recent work and some important plans to Elizabeth. Elizabeth pointed out any issues and gave them some guidance.
After discussing work stuff, Shirley handed a folder to Elizabeth. She said, "Elizabeth, in the past few days, a lot of artists from Clark Entertainment want to switch to our studio."
Nicole added, "I looked into it and found out Clark Entertainment is reorganizing its artists. Many who were previously ignored or suppressed are now being promoted again. But there's a rumor in Clark Entertainment that the higher-ups made this decision because of you. After Quentin confirmed Cassius for the second male lead role, people with similar experiences in Clark Entertainment couldn't sit still."
Elizabeth took the folder and opened it. "Let me take a look."
Shirley had put together detailed profiles of the artists, with one page per person, including names, photos, and career histories.
Elizabeth flipped through and saw there were over twenty people. She asked in surprise, "Why so many? Isn't Clark Entertainment promoting them again?"
From this angle, Loren's proposal and the quick adjustments by the higher-ups didn't just fail; it made these artists even more eager to switch. This was interesting.
