Chapter 300 Is It Really Okay to Treat People So Differently?

The next day, three groups of people gradually made their way downstairs for breakfast, one after the other.

Brenda, acting like nothing happened, slapped on some sweet makeup and joined the breakfast crew as usual. Meanwhile, Enrique looked like he got hit by a truck; he was tired and clearly didn't catch any Z's last night.

Everyone noticed the stark difference between the two. They couldn't help but be amazed at Brenda's mental toughness. No wonder she could mess with the Clark Family brothers.

After breakfast, the three groups were ready to hustle and make some cash.

Raymond, having spent a lot of time with Elizabeth, had picked up a bunch of her habits, like being super observant, asking a ton of questions, and planning everything out before making a move. So, while working as a waiter yesterday, he chatted up the restaurant owner and other staff.

He found out there was a clothing store on the main street always looking for temp models. The gig was simple: wear their clothes and stand in the store for people to check out. If the clothes looked good, folks would be tempted to buy them.

He heard the base pay was $150. Plus, if you could pull in customers, you'd get a commission for each outfit sold.

Raymond didn't mind the idea of attracting customers. Trying out different stuff was pretty fun and it helped with his acting skills.

So, he pitched the idea to his group to go to the store and be models. He also mentioned the commission.

Enrique wasn't feeling it and asked, "If we do this, won't we be like being put on display?"

Mainly because he was getting roasted online, and the heat hadn't died down yet. If he stood in the store as a model and got recognized, he was scared of getting dragged again. He really couldn't handle that kind of embarrassment!

Raymond rolled his eyes and said, "If anyone's gonna being mocked, it's you, not us." Then he gave Enrique a once-over and said, "With your looks, even the fashion industry wouldn't give you a second glance.."

Enrique went quiet. He shot back, "It's like you're dying to break into the fashion world, copying other people's dreams."

Raymond raised an eyebrow and replied, "Well, I've actually been invited multiple times by various domestic and international fashion companies to be groomed as a supermodel. But I'm more into the entertainment industry, so I politely turned them down. You got it?"

Nancy jumped in, "I know about this. I saw it in the headlines before. Top international modeling agencies invited Raymond, but he turned them down. We all thought it was a waste of his good looks and great physique."

Raymond chuckled, "By getting into the entertainment industry, I haven't wasted them."

He was pretty confident in his looks and physique. Honestly, he didn't care if others liked him or not. The key was whether Elizabeth liked him.

Nancy nodded and agreed, "Yeah, you do look handsome."

In the entertainment industry, background was important. However, there were also people with strong backgrounds who just couldn't become popular.Raymond was known for his bad temper. If it weren't for his looks and physique, he wouldn't have become the most popular star in just over a year in the industry.

Raymond smiled and said, "Thanks for the compliment."

Hearing Nancy's words, Enrique glanced at Raymond and asked, "Is he really that popular?"

Nancy replied, "Of course, his fans are probably many times more than yours. Although you look okay, your height and body proportions are definitely not as good as his. If he can strut his stuff at the store and make some cash, why can't you?"

Raymond added, "The store didn't have a problem hiring you, so you shouldn't be bothered by others. If you want to slack off, then we'll separate our meals and accommodation."

If it were someone else, someone chill, Raymond wouldn't care if they didn't want to do anything. But these two annoying folks? No way they were getting a free pass.

Enrique's face twisted a bit from their digs. He said, "It's not like we can't find work elsewhere. Do you have to be so harsh? Brenda, should we look for other gigs?" He really didn't want to stand there and be judged.

Brenda, though, wasn't even considering other options. She wanted to hang out with Raymond more. Plus, just standing there looking pretty and making money? Way better than being a waiter, which was both exhausting and gross. No thanks.

So she looked at Enrique, sweet-talking him, "Enrique, I think Raymond's idea is solid. Let's go together."

From what Raymond said, if they could pull in customers to buy clothes, they'd get a commission. This was her chance to shine.

Enrique stayed quiet, feeling like everyone was against him. Even Brenda was siding with Raymond, which ticked him off. With a sour face, he said, "Fine, do whatever you want."

That basically meant he agreed, since he wasn't about to go job hunting alone.

Raymond couldn't be bothered to argue and headed to the clothing store the restaurant owner mentioned. It was the biggest store in Aevum City, prime location and all.

Raymond took the lead and asked the owner about being a model. The owner, a woman in her thirties, had been watching the reality show live. So she agreed right away.

She even looked at Raymond with a bit of regret and said, "It's a shame Elizabeth isn't in your group, otherwise she could model for my store too."

Her favorites on the show were Elizabeth and Raymond. She also liked Nancy and Ronald.

Raymond looked a bit helpless and said, "Yeah, I wish I could be with Elizabeth too." The other two were not only annoying but also hard to manage.

The owner laughed and said, "Aren't you going to get clothes to change into? If you bring Elizabeth here, I'll give her a discount. I have three outfits that would look amazing on her. You have to bring her to check them out."

Elizabeth would look stunning in them.

Raymond treated people who liked Elizabeth like they were his own.

He smiled and nodded. "Sure, I'll tell Elizabeth later. After they finish their tasks today, I'll bring them here to pick out clothes."

The owner was thrilled. "Great, I'll help you pick out clothes first."

Then she enthusiastically helped Raymond and Nancy pick out several outfits that suited their looks and vibe. She even said she'd personally help with makeup and accessories.

After helping them pick out clothes, Brenda stepped forward with a smile and asked, "Hello, miss, what do you think would suit us?"

The owner's smile faded a bit. She said, "I'll have someone help you."

Then she called a female employee to help Brenda and Enrique pick out clothes.

If it weren't for the fact that these two were teamed up with Raymond, and fearing they wouldn't earn money and drag Raymond down, she wouldn't have considered hiring them at all. As for choosing clothes and coordinating outfits, she definitely wouldn't help these two annoying people.

After that, she enthusiastically took Raymond and Nancy to do their makeup.

Brenda's smile froze on her face. What bad luck, having to deal with the boss's attitude even when working in a clothing store. People who liked Elizabeth were all equally annoying.

Enrique was silent. Was it really okay to treat them so differently? He and Brenda were really having a rough time, being disliked everywhere they went. If it weren't for the live reality show and the high compensation contract he signed before, he would've wanted to bail.
