Chapter 324 Should Go Find Elizabeth

Hearing what they said, Enrique, who had been feeling a bit hopeful, just got even more crushed.

"Grandpa, I know I messed up," Enrique admitted.

He finally got it—Brenda wasn't just unreliable, she was downright dangerous. Sure, Elizabeth was tough, but at least she could be counted on. His regret ran deep.

Bishop sighed, "What's the point of realizing it now? It's too late." He turned to the two divination masters and asked, "If we can't fix this directly, can you at least help tone down his bad luck? Maybe with a Spellscroll or some divination artifact?"

No matter how mad he was at Enrique, he couldn't just leave him hanging.

The two divination masters looked uneasy. One of them said, "We are not able to draw a Spellscroll to suppress it. You need to find Zachary for that.

He added, "As for divination artifacts, if you can get your hands on a naturally nurtured one, it might help for a bit. But we can't lend ours out."

They had a couple of those artifacts, but lending them was out of the question, no matter the price.

Bishop got the hint and asked, "Can we borrow one from another divination master in the Divination Association? We're willing to pay a lot."

The robed master shook his head, "No divination master would lend such an artifact."

The black-clad master suggested, "Zachary has a few of those. Why not ask him?"

Bishop gave a bitter smile. "He won't lend them."

Zachary had already helped with drawing Spellscrolls and lending artifacts before. It was clear he didn't like Enrique much. If it weren't for Elizabeth, he wouldn't have bothered at all.

The divination masters had no other solutions. Bishop had no choice but to send them back to Aevum City and then went to find the person in charge to raise a fuss.

He threatened that if the Divination Association didn't help, he'd report them to the special department and higher authorities. He'd also accuse them of covering for Brenda and the divination masters who helped her.

Bishop believed Elizabeth had a reason for what she said.

The person in charge, unable to handle Bishop's complaints, had to contact the higher-ups. After some discussion, they decided to lend a naturally nurtured artifact from the Divination Association's collection. So the person in charge took the artifact and went to the hospital with Bishop.

When they got to the hospital, Enrique was having another streak of bad luck.

He almost choked on his own saliva and then pulled at his wound, causing him a lot of pain.

Seeing Enrique's miserable state, the person in charge realized an artifact was definitely needed to suppress it temporarily.

He handed a smooth, colorful stone to Bishop, saying, "This stone can help a bit. But his situation is pretty bad. One artifact can only do so much. It can stop his bad luck from getting worse due to previous backlash, but it can't stop it completely. You should find another artifact to use together. Only then can he avoid such bad luck for a while."

He made sure to clarify this; otherwise, if the suppression didn't work and they came back to complain, it would be a hassle.

He then emphasized, "Lending this artifact is the most we can do. You'll have to find another one on your own."

He reassured them, "Don't worry, we'll dig deep into Brenda and those divination masters who helped her."

They had to get to the bottom of it; the Clark Family wasn't going to let this slide. Only then did Bishop stop making a fuss and politely saw off the person in charge.

Samantha put the colorful stone in a small bag and placed it on Enrique. With the bag on, Enrique did feel a bit better. But the bad luck kept coming. Just like the person in charge of the Divination Association said, Enrique's bad luck was too intense for one artifact to handle.

Bishop had no choice but to use his connections to try borrowing another artifact, but it was a dead end. By the time he was done, it was already evening.

Paul and Betty showed up at the hospital. Paul felt guilty seeing Bishop, who had been running around all day. He said, "Dad, Mom, I'm really sorry for all the trouble today."

Bishop didn't look pleased, saying, "This is all your fault. When we get back to Clifftonshireburg, you and your wife are gonna be on your knees for three days."

Paul and Betty's faces fell. Being punished to kneel was a big deal for a major screw-up. Kneeling for three days was not only painful but also super humiliating.

But since Bishop had spoken, they didn't dare to refuse.

Just then, Enrique, who was having porridge, suddenly choked. He started coughing violently, almost wishing for death from the pain.

After he recovered, Enrique weakly gasped for air, saying, "Grandpa, Dad, Mom, I really can't take it anymore. If this keeps up, I'd rather die."

This was pure torture. He was already in a lot of pain, and every hour he would inexplicably have bad luck, pulling at his wounds and causing more pain. At this point, living felt worse than dying. His resentment towards Brenda grew even stronger. She had truly ruined him.

Paul and Betty felt heartbroken seeing Enrique like this.

"There's nothing we can do about it," Paul sighed. "Tomorrow I'll ask around and see if I can find another divination artifact. Your situation is pretty complicated; it has to be a naturally nurtured artifact, so it's not only rare but also very hard to borrow."

Paul had already asked the Clark Group's diviners, but they only had ordinary artifacts, which were useless for Enrique now.

This reminded Enrique of something. He said, "Dad, Elizabeth and that artist Elbert she brought have such artifacts. That day at the market, both Elizabeth and Elbert happened to buy one."

He had tried to buy it from Elbert, but Elbert wouldn't sell. Now, the items in their hands had become his hope to end his suffering.

Kevin also remembered, saying, "They do have it, but would they lend it to us?"

At that time, Enrique had urged him to ask Elizabeth to buy it, but he didn't go. Given Elizabeth's current attitude, it would be tough to borrow it.

Enrique couldn't stand the torment of bad luck any longer, saying, "Mom and Dad, why don't you ask Elizabeth for help tomorrow? If she won't sell, offer a high price to rent it from her."

Maybe if Paul and Betty asked Elizabeth, she would give them some face? No matter what, he had to make Paul and Betty try. If this continued, he would go crazy.

Enrique's words made Bishop and Paul frown at the same time. They both felt that Elizabeth might not agree.

Paul also felt a bit embarrassed to ask Elizabeth. But Betty spoke up, "Yes, let's ask Elizabeth. This matter is related to her, so we should go for her."

Enrique's current state was caused by Brenda, but it was also related to Elizabeth.
