Chapter 137 A Dinner With Her Father

Elizabeth checked the records and found out Brenda had been in touch with this number since she left the Clark family.

Their chats showed they used one number for a bit, then switched to a new one.

Before, they used another number to talk.

When Elizabeth left the Clark family, Brenda messaged this person.

The reply told Brenda not to let the Clark family worry too much about Elizabeth.

After Elizabeth finished the variety show, Brenda texted saying the Clark family's attitude towards Elizabeth was softening.

The reply told Brenda to find a way to get Elizabeth back to the Clark family.

Then, to further alienate Elizabeth from the Clark family, ideally getting her kicked out for good.

This person also told Brenda to keep a close eye on Elizabeth, making sure she doesn't get popular in the entertainment industry.

When Brenda felt pain from Elizabeth's curse, she immediately told this person.

The reply told Brenda to endure it, saying Paul would get a divination master to lift the curse.

This person also told Brenda to get Richard's blood, who had been cursed by Elizabeth.

It would be best to get Hubert's blood too.

Then there was today's text message.

There were no contacts saved; all messages were from phone numbers.

Other messages were mostly about arranging tasks for several divination masters.

Because this person changed numbers often, there weren't many messages, and they weren't complete.

Elizabeth planted a virus in this person's phone.

In the future, even if they changed numbers, as long as they used this phone, she would be alerted to any activity.

From the messages, it was clear Brenda and this person were targeting her.

Many of Brenda's actions might have been instructed by this person.

Elizabeth was curious about who this person was.

She wondered if it was Percy or someone else.

This needed to be closely watched.

The next day, during breakfast, Elizabeth asked Rebecca, "What's your impression of Percy?"

Rebecca replied, "I haven't spent much time with him, but whenever my mom treats us poorly, he steps in to mediate. He's very friendly towards Eugene and me, always acting like a good brother, showing concern for us. But I just feel he's very fake. And in the end, he always benefits. He's quite handsome, wearing gold-rimmed glasses, looking like a gentleman, a refined young man. But I think it's all an act."

She wasn't saying this because she disliked Percy; she genuinely thought he was fake.

Elizabeth continued, "Does he know anything about divination?"

Rebecca shook her head. "I've never heard that he does."

Elizabeth asked, "When Amy goes to buy antiques, does he go with her?"

Rebecca thought for a moment and said, "From what I remember, he never went with my mom. My mom always took my dad to pay for her. Percy never showed any interest in that; he mainly focused on the company."

Elizabeth propped her chin and said, "From what Amy said, she doesn't have any divination artifacts, which is why she came to borrow from you. You didn't lend them, Orlando didn't get them, so she asked Eugene to find you."

She continued, "So where did all the antiques she bought with lucky energy go?"

Rebecca hadn't thought about this before. "Yeah, where did those antiques go? Could her affair partner be a divination master?"

Then she added, "No wonder she's more interested in my antiques than my company shares. Maybe they're for her affair partner."

Elizabeth nodded, "It's possible."

She added, "Feels like there's a big conspiracy here, and we're all caught in it."

Rebecca took a deep breath. "We need to unravel this. I'll keep digging into who my mom gave those things to."

She thought for a moment. "When you go to the variety show next week, I'll head back home."

She needed to investigate personally, so going home was necessary.

Elizabeth nodded, "Okay. I'll make a protective charm for you to wear around your neck, and don't take off the bracelet on your wrist."

With both Amy and Percy being shady, Rebecca might be in real danger if she didn't act.

Taking the initiative wasn't a bad idea.

For some reason, she felt that in the past life, after she died, Rebecca might not have had a good ending either.

Rebecca nodded, "Got it!"

She added, "I won't go to the studio this morning; I have lunch with my dad."

Elizabeth nodded, "Okay. When you have lunch with Orlando, remember to turn on the interference software I installed on your phone. This way, any cameras or bugs won't work."

Rebecca smiled, "I would've forgotten if you hadn't reminded me. I'll turn it on now so I don't forget later."

She took out her phone and turned on the interference software.

She had something confidential to discuss with Orlando, so she couldn't let anyone eavesdrop.

After breakfast, Elizabeth went to work, and Rebecca went to handle investment planning for the studio.

When it was almost time, she closed her computer and drove to the restaurant.

It was a place Orlando had booked.

When Rebecca arrived at the private room, Orlando was already there.

Orlando was nearly fifty but looked like he was in his thirties.

He had a handsome and elegant appearance, with the charm of a successful man seasoned by time.

He smiled and waved at Rebecca. "You're here."

Rebecca walked over and sat next to Orlando. "Dad, have you ordered?"

Orlando handed her the menu. "I have. See if there's anything else you want to add."

Rebecca looked at it and smiled, "No need to add anything; it's all my favorites."

From these small details, it was clear that Orlando cared about her.

Orlando took the menu back and placed the order.

Rebecca asked, "Dad, what kind of food does Percy usually like?"

Orlando was taken aback. "Why are you asking this all of a sudden?"

Rebecca said, "Just curious."

Orlando thought for a moment. "I don't really remember."

Rebecca looked at him intently. "Dad, it seems your affection for Percy is quite superficial!"

Orlando was smart. Seeing Rebecca's expression and the underlying meaning in her words, he had a guess.

He smiled and asked, "What do you want to say?"

Before Rebecca could speak, he added, "Be careful what you say in a place like this."

Rebecca took out her phone and pointed to it. "It's okay, I've already turned on the interference software. Don't worry, our conversation is absolutely safe."

Orlando raised an eyebrow. "Since when did you become so meticulous?"

Rebecca had always been careless, not the type to make such preparations.

Rebecca didn't hide it and said, "Elizabeth helped me install it and reminded me to turn it on."

Orlando took off his cufflinks and placed them next to Rebecca's phone.

Seeing the interference waves constantly fluctuating on the software, he knew it was effective and felt safe to talk.

He then said, "Elizabeth Clark is a smart child. It's a pity Eugene missed out on her."
