Chapter 382 This Must Be Intentional

Amy had been totally swamped lately with all the family drama. Both her brothers got arrested, and only one managed to get out.

The company got shut down, and her oldest brother was still facing legal trouble. Even with the best lawyer, he was headed to jail.

Her nephew and niece were also dealing with a bunch of issues. Her second brother, who messed around with a married woman, got beaten up so bad he broke his leg. And as for Caleb, she had got no way to help him either.

Yesterday, she found out her other two nephews went abroad to gamble and ended up losing over a hundred million dollars. Now they were being held by the people they owed money to, and their lives were on the line if they didn't pay up. The King Family was in total chaos.

Her mom, sister-in-law, nephews, and nieces were all crying to her for help every day. They even wanted her to cough up the money to save the two nephews. But Amy was already given most of her cash to that shady wizard. She couldn't even scrape together ten million, let alone a hundred million. She tried calling Orlando, but he was out in some mining area with terrible signal, so she couldn't reach him. This just added to her frustration, and she kept trying to find Orlando while trying to calm her family down.

Then she found out that the Anderson Family and the Clark Family were both gunning for the King Family. That was why her oldest brother got taken away so fast. She also suspected that her second brother getting beaten up and her two nephews getting tricked into gambling had something to do with the Andersons and Clarks, so she was furious with Betty.

Back in Clifftonshireburg, she kept tabs on the Clark Family because that evil wizard told her he'd put a poisonous insect on Betty. She heard Betty suddenly got red spots all over her body, almost ruining her looks, and no one could cure it.

Amy felt secretly pleased and satisfied. That witch Betty got what she deserved and probably wouldn't show her face at parties or in their social circle anymore. For someone like Betty, who's all about appearances, this was a huge blow. Amy didn't actually want to kill Betty, as that would bring more trouble. If Betty died, the Andersons and Clarks wouldn't just go after the King Family; they'd come for her too. So she was pretty happy with how things were.

Especially when she heard the Clark Family had hired several top-notch diviners, but none could get rid of the poisonous insect on Betty, she was even more thrilled. She felt like the money spent on that evil wizard was totally worth it. But before she could enjoy her victory, people from Special Department showed up at her door.

Amy, of course, denied hiring an evil wizard to harm anyone and accused Betty of framing her. The Special Department checked her communication records but found nothing because Amy used a different SIM card to contact the wizard. They couldn't prove she hired him. So they just told her to stay in Clifftonshireburg and be available for investigation, but they didn't take her away.

Amy let out a sigh of relief.

At the same time, Amy grabbed another phone and called that shady wizard. She told him to stay away from Clifftonshireburg for now and to hold off on dealing with Elizabeth. If he showed up and got nabbed by the Special Department, it would drag her down too. The wizard didn't argue, saying she could hit him up when it was safe.

Amy also asked about the poisonous insect. The wizard reassured her that even if the top diviners from the Divination Association came to Clifftonshireburg, they couldn't get rid of it. The insect was raised by his teacher, and only a few diviners could handle it.

He had put his teacher's poisonous insect on Betty as a backup plan. Unless a high-level master diviner stepped in, it couldn't be removed. This way, he could nail the job for Amy and boost his rep. He wanted to create a zombie puppet, which needed a ton of cash for materials, so he was looking to attract more high-paying clients.

Hearing this, Amy felt relieved. As long as Betty couldn't shake off the insect, it was all good. She heard Betty was not only disfigured but also in pain and itching like crazy. As long as Betty was suffering, Amy was happy.

Two days later.

Elizabeth was working in her studio when she got a call from an unknown number. She picked up, "Hello!"

A deep male voice came through, "Hey Elizabeth, this is Alaric, the Deputy Director of the Special Department."

Elizabeth replied, "Hi, what can I do for you?"

She was a bit surprised Alaric called her directly. She had a bad feeling about this.

Alaric said, "Yeah, I need your help with something.

"Ryan and Percy went to the Divination Association in Aevum City a few days ago to catch the person who killed Darlene. They caught the guy, but something happened on the way back. The guy vanished.

"When Ryan and Percy were found, they were unconscious. They're in the hospital now, and no one knows why they're in a coma. I had a master diviner check them out, and he said they're probably cursed, but he doesn't know how to break it."

He continued, "So I'm calling to see if you could come and take a look at them."

Elizabeth didn't expect something to happen to Ryan and Percy. Whoever did this was seriously bold. This was definitely on purpose.

She said, "Okay, give me the address, and I'll head over now."

Alaric asked if she needed a ride. Elizabeth said she'd drive herself. Alaric didn't push and quickly gave her the address.

As Elizabeth got to the hospital room, she saw a tall, handsome guy with a commanding presence standing outside. She guessed this must be Alaric, as he had an air of authority and nobility.

Alaric saw Elizabeth and smiled. He greeted her and extended his hand. "Hey Elizabeth, I'm Alaric Voss."

Elizabeth shook his hand. "Hi, Mr. Voss."

After letting go, she asked, "How are they doing?"

Alaric's expression turned grim. "It's really bad. You'll see when you go in."

He led Elizabeth into the room. She saw Ryan and Percy lying there, their faces dark and blue. Their eyes were tightly shut, and their breathing was faint. They were surrounded by a thick evil aura. If this kept up, they'd be dead in seven days.
