Chapter 387 Are You All Disobedient Now?

Arnold and Kevin, having been through the wringer themselves, were on the same page.

Arnold scoffed, "So, even if you soak up those Generational Blessings, you're still a puppet. But when you kicked Enrique and me to the curb, you were not in control, right?" He knew Brenda's game too well; she was a pro at dodging blame.

Kevin chimed in, "You used me like a tool, and I put up with so much crap for you, but did you ever show any thanks? Was that 'cause you were being controlled too? We're not falling for your BS anymore."

Brenda silently cursed them for being so cold. Wasn't her behavior a result of their pampering? They adored her; what was wrong with expecting a little sacrifice? But now they were getting stingy. She wouldn't voice these thoughts, though.

She put on a hurt act, throwing herself into Betty's arms. "Mom, my brothers don't believe or forgive me." She added, "I don't want to make things hard for you; maybe I should just leave."

Betty, being who she was, would never let her sons call the shots.

Sure enough, Betty's face darkened. She patted Brenda, "They're getting more heartless; ignore them. You stay with me; I still run this house."

She shot a glare at her sons, "I want to see who dares to defy me."

Richard and the others stayed quiet. Betty hadn't suffered from Brenda's antics, so she didn't get it. Now that Brenda was back, Betty was all about her. Her own sons didn't matter as much anymore.

Richard knew he couldn't change Betty's mind. He said, "Fine, Mom, since you love Brenda so much, let her stay. I'm in a bad mood and need to get out of town for a bit."

If he couldn't win, he could at least escape. If Betty wanted Brenda around, she could deal with her. He was ready to bail.

Arnold jumped in, "I'm working on a new song and need to stay at the studio."

Kevin added, "I got a role in a movie and need to join the crew."

That movie was still up in the air, and he wasn't that into it. But now, he was all in; he had to get out.

Enrique stayed quiet. These guys were quick to bail; what about him? After a moment, he said, "My back's acting up again; I need to stay in a nursing home for a while."

Even a nursing home was better than staying here. The curse between him and Brenda might be broken, but he wasn't taking any chances. If she targeted him again, he was done for.

Hearing them, Betty and Brenda were pissed. Their excuses were too obvious.

"Mom, my brothers don't want me here. This is the Clark Family. When I come back, they all leave, making me feel really uncomfortable." She added, "So let them stay, and I'll go."

These jerks better watch out. They treated her like this; she'd make them come crawling back.

Betty had been having a tough time lately. She felt her sons' actions were not just against Brenda but also an insult to her.

She couldn't help but slam the dining table, "What, are you all defying me now? None of you are moving out. If any of you leave, don't even think about coming back to the Clark Family. I'll disown you all and cut you off from the Clark Group dividends."

Richard and the others were stunned. Kevin couldn't hold back, "Mom, you're just the daughter-in-law, not the head of the family. Even if someone were to disown us, it wouldn't be up to you, right?"

Richard added, "The Clark Group's shares belong to all the Clark kids. You don't have any shares, Mom, so how can you say we can't have them? Should I call Grandpa and ask if the Clark Family is under your control now?"

Arnold chimed in, "Mom, have you been hanging out with Mrs. Baker so much that you think you can control us too?"

Enrique said, "But Mr. Baker is blinded by love; my dad isn't. Plus, Grandma's still around. Mom, if you want to control us, it's a bit too early."

Betty was really stirring the pot now, picking up all the wrong habits from Amy. She used to be so elegant and gentle, but now she was acting like a tyrant. Threatening them with disinheritance and withholding shares? Did she think they were dumb enough to fall for that? Even if the grandparents were gone, Paul still ran the Clark Family, leaving no room for Betty to take over.

Hearing their words, Betty was shaking with anger. She really wanted to kick these ungrateful sons out.

She pointed at them, "You ungrateful brats, you're the ones who haven't learned well. Even if I can't be the head of the Clark Family, I can still be the head of this household. None of you are moving out. Otherwise, I'll post on Facebook and in the newspapers, disowning you. I'll kick you out of the Clark Family. If you make me sick and I end up in the hospital, I'll expose your unfilial behavior online. When your dad comes back, let's see how you explain yourselves."

The brothers were even more determined to move out, but she wouldn't allow it. She wanted Brenda to stay and take care of her, but she wasn't entirely comfortable living alone with Brenda.

Richard and the others were speechless; they were really fed up. They weren't afraid of Betty posting on Facebook or in the newspapers to disown them. Nor were they afraid of her exposing their unfilial behavior. They had already been embarrassed enough before; it would just be more entertainment for the public. If people found out that Betty was doing this to keep Brenda, she would be the one getting criticized.

But they were afraid of Paul blaming them when he returned. Paul was the one who truly controlled their future. If Paul said no dividends, then there would be no dividends. They still wanted to live a carefree life with their annual dividends. In this regard, they were indeed threatened.

Betty was forcing her biological sons to keep a malicious Brenda. Would she only be happy if they were harmed by Brenda again? As a result, their feelings for Betty grew even colder.

Richard weighed the pros and cons, saying, "Fine, Mom, you call the shots. We'll stay, okay?" He planned to call Paul to complain later.
