Chapter 428 Aren't You Bringing This Upon Yourself?
After dealing with Aaron, Elizabeth noticed the ground was crawling with poisonous bugs and frowned. She was about to whip out some spell scrolls to get rid of them when she felt the little Aether Serpent slither onto her wrist again. It rubbed against her hand and turned its head toward the bugs, clearly wanting them.
Elizabeth picked up on the little Aether Serpent's desire and pointed at the bugs. "You want some?" she asked.
The little Aether Serpent, having eaten a centipede earlier, had gained some of its memories and was pretty smart. It immediately rubbed against her hand, showing its eagerness.
Elizabeth knew the little Aether Serpent had recently eaten an energy stone and the centipede, so it probably hadn't digested everything yet. That was why it didn't go down to grab the bugs itself. She was impressed by how the little Aether Serpent had learned this behavior; before, it would have just grabbed the centipede with its mouth and run off, rather than coiling around it.
Fondly, she turned to Aaron, "Put all these bugs into your poison insect bag."
Aaron, who had been wanting to do this for a while, felt a sense of relief. These bugs were the result of over thirty years of his hard work. He had been afraid Elizabeth would notice and destroy them. Now, hearing her command, he whistled, and everyone watched as the bugs voluntarily crawled into several leather pouches at his waist.
Before Aaron could seal the pouches, Elizabeth swiftly took them from him. She tied them tightly and stuck a pre-prepared Spellscroll on them. These were the little Aether Serpent's food, and she couldn't let them escape.
Aaron was stunned by her actions and anxiously asked, "What are you doing?"
Elizabeth looked at him and responded matter-of-factly. "Of course, I'm just taking what rightfully belongs to me." She narrowed her eyes, exuding an aura of authority. "What, do you have a problem with that?"
Aaron felt a surge of frustration and almost spat out blood. So Elizabeth was taking his precious bugs. He had helped her for nothing, and now he didn't dare provoke her, fearing she might kill him on a whim. After all, he and his mentor were both like that, doing things based on their mood. Heartbroken, he muttered, "No, no problem."
Aaron wanted to protest but didn't dare. This time, he had really lost out. Not only was he injured and captured, but his carefully raised bugs were taken away. As long as he could get out of the Special Department, he would settle accounts with Ethan and make Ethan compensate him double for his losses.
These bugs required time and effort to raise, not just money. For now, he would let Elizabeth hold onto them. Once he got out, he would secretly summon the bugs back. Without his aura and special methods, Elizabeth couldn't control them. She would probably get bored and throw them aside.
But Aaron had no idea that his bugs were destined to be Aether Serpent's food.
Meanwhile, in a palace in Eldoria, a grand evil wizard felt a sudden backlash. The centipede he had raised had died, and because it was fed with his blood, its death made him feel unwell. His face turned extremely gloomy. Who had done this? His centipede was dead, so had Aaron also met with misfortune?
Even though Aaron wasn't the most talented or strongest guy around, and he wasn't exactly the sharpest tool in the shed, he was actually the grand evil wizard's son. But Aaron and the others had no clue about this. The secrecy was to keep enemies from using Aaron for blackmail or revenge. If something happened to Aaron, the bloodline would be cut off.
The grand evil wizard tried calling Aaron, but the signal on the mountain was terrible, and he couldn't get through. Growing more worried, he contacted another number. The person on the other end told him that Aaron had gone to Shadow Peak to find Elizabeth. If something had gone wrong, it was probably her doing.
The grand evil wizard remembered the name Elizabeth. Aaron had only mentioned borrowing a poisonous insect to deal with a diviner, and he hadn't asked much. He asked the other person to check on Aaron but didn't fully trust them. So, he contacted another student and asked them to personally investigate. If it turned out that Elizabeth had harmed Aaron, he would personally go to that mysterious country to avenge him.
Back on the mountain, Elizabeth was pulled back to the tent by Raymond and the others. Raymond looked at her with shining eyes. He praised, "Elizabeth, you were amazing. If you hadn't come back, we would have been in big trouble."
Rebecca hugged Elizabeth and laughed. "Of course, Elizabeth is the best, no arguments."
Nancy and the others surrounded Elizabeth, praising her and looking at her with admiration. Tonight had been too thrilling, and they were all scared.
Elizabeth smiled and comforted everyone, telling them they could continue to rest. Only then did Raymond and the others return to their tents.
As soon as they left, five guys approached the tent entrance, pushing Hubert forward. He spoke hesitantly, "Elizabeth, can I have a word with you?"
Elizabeth walked to the entrance. She asked, "What's up?"
Hubert pointed to the places where they had been bitten by the insects earlier. He said softly, "I wanted to ask if you have any way to deal with this."
His wounds were red, swollen, and very itchy. They had applied anti-itch ointment for mosquito bites, but it was useless. He had no choice but to ask Elizabeth for help, hoping she might have a solution.
Elizabeth raised an eyebrow. "I do have a way, and then?"
Hubert was silent for a moment, realizing how foolish his question sounded. He smiled, "I just want to ask for your help to stop the itching, and we'll pay you."
Elizabeth yawned. "No help! You guys secretly tracked us and shamelessly followed us. Now you're in this situation, aren't you bringing this upon yourself?"
The five guys fell silent, realizing they had overthought it before. She was still so harsh to them. Not only did she refuse to treat Hubert, but she also mocked them for deserving it.
Hubert said, "This was all Eugene's doing, and our situation is also his mom's fault, so let him bear it."
Richard quickly added, "Yes, it's all Eugene's fault today. We were just accompanying him up the mountain. We really didn't track your whereabouts, I swear."
The Clark brothers really hadn't tracked them, so he dared to say this. It was all Hubert and Eugene's fault. Especially Eugene, without his malicious mother causing trouble, they wouldn't be in such a mess. So if anyone should take responsibility, it should be Eugene.
Eugene was silent, feeling betrayed. These people were too bad. They actually pushed him out alone. Didn't they know that the person he cared about most was Elizabeth? They were badmouthing him in front of Elizabeth; he was really going to cut ties with them.
