Chapter 98 Leave Him No Way Out

Eugene watched Rebecca vanish at the doorway.

He slumped to the ground, eyes full of pain.

"Too little, too late," he muttered.

He kicked over the wine bottle, but it didn't break.

He picked it up and kept drinking to numb the pain.

Orlando came back and Amy caught him, crying and complaining.

He went upstairs to find Rebecca but she was gone.

Seeing Eugene's door open, he walked in and saw Eugene looking miserable.

He frowned. "Drinking won't fix anything."

Eugene looked up. "Then what should I do?"

Orlando closed the door and walked up to him.

He sighed and patted Eugene's shoulder. "You're caught in someone else's game. To break free, you need patience. You're still young."

Eugene was confused. "What do you mean?"

Orlando shook his head. "Nothing."

Seeing Eugene so down, he felt a pang of sympathy. "Don't let a woman get you this low."

Eugene chuckled. "Didn't you do the same for Mom? I must've inherited it."

Orlando's eyes darkened. "I'm not like you. You schemed against her before. What's the point of regretting now?"

Eugene looked at him. "Then what should I do?"

Orlando thought for a moment. "You have two choices. Either give up on Elizabeth and move on."

Eugene gave a bitter smile. "If I could, I wouldn't be in so much pain."

Orlando continued, "Then pull yourself together and try again. Don't cling on and make her hate you more. Support her when she needs it; maybe she'll change her mind."

Eugene felt a bit better. "Alright, I'll try."

He suddenly asked, "Dad, you don't want me to marry Brenda?"

Orlando laughed. "Why would I? That's Amy's idea, not mine."

Eugene raised an eyebrow. "Aren't you afraid Mom will find out and be mad?"

Orlando raised an eyebrow back. "Are you going to tell her?"

Eugene laughed. "No."

Orlando said, "Then it's settled."

He patted Eugene's shoulder again. "Think it over."

Then he left.

Eugene always knew Amy favored his older brother Percy.

Orlando seemed to follow Amy's lead but wasn't bad to him and Rebecca in private.

But now, watching Orlando leave, Eugene felt like he couldn't figure him out.

Meanwhile, Rebecca took the documents back to the studio.

She put them in the safe and went to Elizabeth's office.

Elizabeth was looking at online trends.

Seeing the comments stirring trouble, she knew it was Richard trying to create drama between her and Raymond.

He also wanted to start a fan war.

But Richard underestimated their fans.

Rebecca came in and saw Elizabeth deep in thought.

She smiled. "What are you thinking about?"

Elizabeth snapped out of it. "Thinking about how to piss off Richard more."

Rebecca perked up. "How?"

Elizabeth wasn't talking about counterattacking.

She said, "Richard made a series of moves. The first one was foiled by Raymond and his fans. Richard must be upset and holding a grudge. Next, he'll hire people to expose my deal with Emily and stir up trouble."

She paused and said, "I was going to let him stir things up for a bit, but now I want to beat him at his own game. Let him know I saw it coming and ruin his plans."

Rebecca nodded. "So, we expose it ourselves?"

Elizabeth smiled. "Exactly. I'll announce it first, making all his prep work useless. With his ego, thinking he's in control, he'll be furious. He'll feel like all his efforts were for nothing."

Rebecca clapped. "Great idea!"

Elizabeth sent a message, asking Herman and Emily to come to the office.

When they arrived, she explained her plan.

Herman grinned. "This counterattack will really get under Richard's skin."

Richard always thought he was on top. If he found out Elizabeth had anticipated his moves and acted first, he'd be livid.

Emily smiled. "I don't get all this, but it sounds satisfying. I'm in."

Elizabeth knew Richard's habits and could guess when he'd have his team expose the deal.

She told Emily, "Tomorrow morning, I'll post online, welcoming you to the studio. You just need to respond. Richard will have hired people to bash you, and your haters will join in. I'll post again, and you just need to share it. Then sit back and let it unfold."

She grinned. "Let the Clark Group spend money to hype us up. The more they do, the better for your comeback. We'll save on PR costs and invest in a show to compete with Clark Entertainment. Double wins for us!"

Rebecca laughed. "The Clark brothers will be even angrier."

Everyone chuckled. Elizabeth's plan was ruthless.

They couldn't wait to see the Clark brothers' reactions.

After finalizing the plan, Emily and Herman left with smiles.

Rebecca told Elizabeth about the conversation she overheard between Eugene and Amy.

Elizabeth smiled. "You said everything I wanted to say."

No matter their reasons, once choices are made, they can't be undone.

Plus, in the past life, there was a life between them. How could she forgive and reconcile?

Rebecca sighed. "I really want to smack my past self."

Elizabeth put an arm around her. "We've all loved the wrong person at some point. Just focus on now and the future."

Rebecca nodded. "You're right, no self-smacking."

She touched her face. "I'm too pretty. Can't bear it!"

Elizabeth laughed. "Exactly."

The next day, Richard got to the office early.

He checked the time and told his team, "Release the news at ten."

Five minutes before ten, his assistant rushed in, panicked.

"Richard, something's wrong. Elizabeth posted first, messing up our plan."
