Chapter 158 Today Brenda Will Be Exposed

Gilbert stepped onto the stage and tested the guitar for sound. Then he started playing and singing softly, performing a new song he wrote. His voice was pure and soothing, quickly quieting the noisy bar. The live stream camera zoomed in on him, but he stayed focused on his music.

He sang about his journey in the industry, from highs to lows and back up again. The crowd was captivated, and people kept pressing the green button on their tables. Soon, over ninety percent had pressed it.

When he finished, Elizabeth smiled, proud of her choice. She led the applause, and the bar erupted in cheers. Raymond praised Gilbert's voice, calling it divine. Nancy, a fellow singer, agreed and expressed her desire to collaborate with him. Elizabeth happily agreed, knowing it would boost Gilbert's visibility.

Nancy genuinely liked Gilbert's voice and also wanted to repay Elizabeth for past help. When Gilbert came off stage, many praised his performance.

Fans online were emotional, praising his beautiful voice and thanking Elizabeth for giving him a chance to shine again. They remembered how his previous company had stifled his talent and were grateful he could now sing the songs he loved.

Many followed Gilbert online, moved by his performance. Even Arnold, sitting at another table, had to admit Gilbert's song was good, though he still thought he was better.

Seeing Gilbert get over ninety percent of the green buttons, Arnold felt the urge to show off. He didn't rush to the stage, though, to avoid looking too eager. Instead, he asked the others, "Anyone else want to sing?"

Eugene shook his head. "I don't sing." He was there to see Elizabeth, not to perform.

Kevin wasn't interested either. "I'm out. My throat's sore from busking all day, and I can't top Gilbert anyway."

Brenda hesitated, but Arnold encouraged her. "Come on, Brenda, let's have some fun. We're here to enjoy ourselves."

Brenda wanted to show off and saw this as a good chance to sing the song Arnold wrote for her. She pretended to think it over, then smiled. "You're right. Let's do it. Arnold, you go first."

She added, "The host mentioned that if we win, our table's drinks are free."

Arnold's eyes lit up. "Alright, I'll give it my best shot. Brenda, you should sing your new song too."

Brenda agreed, smiling. "Sure, I'll listen to you. Are you singing your new song as well?"

Arnold nodded. "Yeah, I'll sing mine too."

Eugene and Kevin were unimpressed by their pretense. Kevin knew they couldn't outdo Gilbert and didn't bother trying to stop them. Eugene didn't care about the competition; he just sipped his drink and glanced at Elizabeth, who was chatting with Raymond.

After a bit, Arnold let Brenda go first. She walked to the stage, sat at the piano, and introduced herself and her song in Veridianian. Then she started playing and singing.

Her gentle voice and appearance quickly earned her more than half the green buttons. Raymond, an esports player who had learned singing and dancing, commented, "Her voice is gentle, but the song feels more macho. It's a bit contradictory."

He turned to Elizabeth. "Did she say she wrote this song herself? I didn't mishear, right?"

Elizabeth nodded. "You heard right. It does feel contradictory, especially the middle lyrics, which seem more suited for a male protagonist."

Elizabeth recognized Arnold's style in the song. Brenda was bold, using a song Arnold wrote to show off, risking exposure.

Raymond's keen sense picked up on the song's vibe. There were likely professionals in the live stream audience who would notice too. Brenda might get exposed today.
