Chapter 95 What a Foolish Teammate
Richard, though furious, didn't underestimate Elizabeth again.
"She's got some tricks. As for Emily, she can't clear her name. We've destroyed all the evidence. Unless my guys come forward, Emily's stuck. But that's not happening."
He was confident about that.
Loren knew Richard never left loose ends.
Plus, it had been over a year since the incident, making it hard for Elizabeth to find evidence.
He asked, "What's the plan?"
Richard replied, "First, expose Elizabeth for turning down Raymond's contract and starting her own studio. Get Raymond's fans to dislike her. Stir up arguments between her and Raymond's fans.
Richard believed anyone would be mad if they felt betrayed, especially someone like Raymond, an arrogant heir.
He persisted, "Let's unveil the fact that Elizabeth not only endorsed Emily but also secured her a spot on that renowned live reality show. If Elizabeth isn't fazed by Emily's public image, I shall endeavor to propaganda Emily's deed. The consequences? Elizabeth will inevitably be eclipsed by her own doing."
He shrugged. "I'm not targeting her on purpose; she brought this on herself."
After thinking, Loren said, "What if she finds evidence to clear Emily?"
Richard said, "Emily was proven guilty before. Unless she recovers deleted photos, videos, and chat records, it's impossible. As far as I know, Emily tried to recover them but failed. Otherwise, she wouldn't still be criticized."
Loren agreed. "Makes sense."
He added, "Go easy on her, don't go too far. She's our sister, and we've built a relationship over a year."
Richard waved his hand. "I know, I just want her to admit her mistake."
He never intended to destroy Elizabeth.
He just wanted her to realize her mistake and come back humbly.
"When her studio collapses, I'll offer her a better contract than Starlight's." He added, "As long as she behaves, I won't hold grudges and will support her with good resources."
Loren nodded. "Sounds good!"
After their talk, Richard made arrangements.
In due course, an online influencer laid bare Elizabeth's dismissal of Raymond in favor of launching her own studio. Subsequently, individuals goaded others by asserting that Elizabeth had shown disdain towards Raymond, that her rejection of a lucrative deal from Starlight Entertainment not only caused a stir but also left Raymond in a state of profound embarrassment.
Raymond got the news immediately.
He knew it was Richard's doing.
He feared his fans would turn against Elizabeth due to hired trolls.
After getting Elizabeth's consent, he posted online.
[@Raymond: Congrats on becoming your own boss, Elizabeth. Dinner's on you! @Elizabeth]
Seeing this, Elizabeth retweeted..
[@Elizabeth: Thanks, Raymond. Dinner's a must. @Raymond]
Seeing the friendly interaction between Elizabeth and Raymond, both their fans relaxed.
Raymond's fans, with their unique style, didn't get mad at Elizabeth for rejecting the contract. Instead, they admired her independence.
Under their posts, Raymond's fans showered her with praise:
[Elizabeth is amazing, living the dream!]
[Why shouldn't Elizabeth start her own studio? She's capable!]
[Raymond isn't narrow-minded; of course, he'd support her decision.]
[We see through those trying to ruin Elizabeth and Raymond's relationship.]
[Raymond and his fans won't fall for it.]
[Are we that foolish? We're happy for Elizabeth!]
[Raymond protects Elizabeth, so we support her too!]
[Those trying to stir trouble are fools.]
[Congrats to Elizabeth on becoming her own boss. Blessings from Raymond and Elizabeth's fans!]
Many comments echoed these sentiments, and some of Raymond's fans even started liking Elizabeth.
Richard hadn't expected this outcome. He was speechless and couldn't understand Raymond and his fans' mindset.
'After being humiliated by Elizabeth, they happily support her? Are they crazy?'
Just as Kevin had said, Raymond wasn't a normal person.
The first plan failed, making Richard very angry.
So, he instructed someone to spread the news about Emily signing with Elizabeth's studio the next day.
Nancy and Ronald saw theposts and privately asked Elizabeth if she had opened a studio. After being confirmed, they also posted similar messages, congratulating her.
Lisa saw this, and her agent advised her to attract public attention. Remembering how the Clark siblings had treated her, she posted a similar message, partly to attract attention and partly to annoy the Clarks.
Lisa's move did annoy Brenda. She couldn't understand Raymond, Nancy and Ronald's behavior, but what Lisa had done was more annoying; it was a betrayal to Brenda.
Brenda cursed Lisa for seeking attention at the cost of her dignity. Now, should the other three people in the team post or not? Either way, it wouldn't be well-received.
Before she could decide, she saw Kevin's post:
[@Kevin: Congrats to Elizabeth for becoming her own boss.]
He didn't ask for a meal, but his post still angered Brenda and Richard.
What a foolish teammate.
