Chapter 450 Lost Big
Stanley, being a late-stage advanced diviner, quickly recognized the red light. His pupils contracted, and his face changed dramatically. He shouted, "No! Stop it quickly."
Those poisonous insects were something he had spent many years, a lot of time, effort, and a great deal of money and resources to raise. Each one was a treasure. Seeing them being devoured one after another was like having his heart cut out.
Elizabeth, however, looked innocent and replied, "How do I stop it? I don't know! Besides, isn't this a magical duel? How can you just stop it?"
No wonder these poisonous insects raised by Stanley emitted such a strong evil aura. For the little Aether Serpent, they were a great supplement. She certainly wouldn't stop.
Stanley fell silent; Elizabeth must be doing this on purpose. He also understood at this moment that she had planned this all along. No wonder she deliberately provoked him into a magical duel.
He urged the poisonous insects to attack the little Aether Serpent. However, the serpent's superior bloodline naturally suppressed these insects, placing it at the top of the food chain. As a result, the insects didn't dare approach and scattered in an attempt to escape, making it difficult even for Stanley to control them.
After the little Aether Serpent devoured several more piles of poisonous insects, Stanley's heart ached. He felt like he was going mad, almost to the point of spitting blood. The backlash was severe, as most of these insects had been nurtured with his own blood. Losing so many in such a short time was unbearable.
He realized that his poisonous insects not only couldn't handle Elizabeth but were also serving as food for her pet. He had lost big in this magical duel.
Stanley immediately made another strange sound. Then the poisonous insects on the ground quickly turned around and crawled toward him. They all burrowed into the leather pouch at his waist. Those that crawled slowly, Stanley couldn't save in time. He could only watch helplessly as they were swallowed by the little Aether Serpent. This made him so furious that he felt like spitting blood again.
He glared at Elizabeth with a sinister gaze. He snapped, "You bastard, how dare you!"
Elizabeth sneered, "Why wouldn't I dare? You dared to come here and provoke me, and I can't fight back? What kind of logic is that? In your world, the one with the biggest fist gets to speak. Aren't I just following the same rule right now?"
Stanley fell silent. That was true, but it was too frustrating and uncomfortable. Elizabeth meant that he brought this on himself.
Elizabeth snorted, "If I were you, I wouldn't continue wasting energy and poisonous insects here. Otherwise, when you get to Clifftonshireburg, Ethan might turn around and deal with you."
This wasn't just nonsense. She looked Stanley up and down. Then she continued, "After all, your essence is so rich, killing you would be a great supplement for Ethan. He wouldn't even need to find a way to seize Generational Blessings to extend his life. Killing you and draining your life force, he could live for decades longer."
Stanley's face changed. Although Elizabeth's words were harsh, he had to be cautious. After all, he knew Ethan was not ordinary.
He snorted coldly. "You don't need to worry about that. I'll settle today's score with you later."
Her pet having his poisonous insects eaten so much, he couldn't swallow this anger. He had to make up for this loss. His gaze fell on the little Aether Serpent, a hint of greed in his eyes.
Elizabeth, so young with deep Generational Blessings, even had such Spirit Beasts. If the little Aether Serpent fell into his hands and he refined it into his best poisonous insect. He might completely enter the late stage of advanced diviner.
The little Aether Serpent sensed Stanley's malice and called out to him in displeasure. Elizabeth reached out to stroke the little Aether Serpent to soothe it. Her eyes were cold as she looked at Stanley. "Don't even think about my baby. Otherwise, believe it or not, you won't even get out of Aevum City today," she warned.
Stanley sneered. "I admit you're strong, but you're still too young to keep me here."
Elizabeth raised an eyebrow. "You don't believe me? Fine, I'll prove it to you." Then she suddenly shouted, "Zachary, there's an old man here in Aevum City provoking you."
Soon, a strong aura emanated from the backyard. Zachary's voice also sounded in the yard. "Old man, do you want to duel with me? If you don't want to leave, then stay in Aevum City."
Stanley's face changed again. Elizabeth was insidious and shameless, actually calling Zachary out. If Zachary made a move, he really wouldn't be able to leave Aevum City.
So Stanley smiled awkwardly, "Mr. Murphy, you're overthinking. I just came to ask Elizabeth about my student, not to duel with you. I'll leave now!"
He turned and walked away quickly, his face and eyes full of dark anger. He cursed inwardly, 'Damn Elizabeth, I am tricked badly by her in Aevum City this time.'
Just as he reached the door, Elizabeth's voice rang out from behind him. "Don't think I set you up. I never asked you to come to Aevum City. And why did your student cause me trouble? Isn't it because of your ally? If I were you, I'd demand double compensation for today's losses from them. Shouldn't you also hold your student accountable and make them compensate? Otherwise, why are you even here? To be schemed against? I thought you were smart, but it seems you're just being played by your ally. I actually feel sorry for you."
She was openly sowing discord, and even if Stanley was frustrated, he had to do as she said.
Sure enough, Stanley was so angry his chest hurt. But he indeed had to get back at Ethan for this. Even though he knew Elizabeth was sowing discord, he had to accept it. He hadn't been this frustrated in years. He thought, 'Elizabeth better not fall into my hands in the future, or I'll definitely turn her into a puppet.'
He didn't reply, quickened his pace, and left, afraid she would say something else to anger him.
Stanley left, and the courtyard door closed automatically.
Zachary's light laughter came. "You really have a sharp tongue." He could tell Stanley was very angry. But due to Elizabeth's strength and his deterrence, he left frustrated.
Zachary reminded, "He definitely holds a grudge against you, be careful in the future."
Elizabeth replied indifferently, "Even if I didn't treat him like this today, he wouldn't let me go if he had the chance in the future. so I won't be polite to him."
Stanley's eyes were full of malice toward her and the little Aether Serpent; she remembered it all in her heart.
Zachary was amused. But she was right; Stanley had bad intentions, so no need to be polite.
Elizabeth urged, "You quickly comprehend refining this city, and we'll hurry back to Clifftonshireburg to watch the show."
The drama between Stanley and Ethan would be great to watch; it would be a pity to miss it.
