Chapter 438 She Would Be as Rude as Possible

Elizabeth's words wiped the grin right off Ethan's face. He stepped forward, his expression darkening. "Elizabeth, I'm way older than you. In the divination world, I'm your senior. Is this really how you should be talking to me?"

Elizabeth raised an eyebrow, her gaze steady. "Respect is earned, Mr. Sanders. Do you think you've earned mine?"

Ethan was taken aback by Elizabeth's boldness. He usually kept his cool, but now he felt a flicker of anger. Summoning a wisp of dark energy, he aimed it at Elizabeth. "You're pushing it. Today, I'll teach you some respect."

He had planned to play nice with Elizabeth for a while, detoxify Zephyr, and then get what he needed. But her attitude made him want to put her in her place. Plus, he was curious about her current strength.

Elizabeth was ready for him. She pulled out a Spellscroll and blocked the dark energy. The Spellscroll burst into flames, burning away the dark energy. Ethan didn't even notice a tiny wisp of dark energy slip from the Spellscroll into the ruby "bracelet" on Elizabeth's wrist.

Elizabeth had discovered a new trick with her little Aether Serpent. It could not only absorb dark energy but also store it. She had disguised it as a bracelet, hiding its presence with a spell. Even Ethan didn't catch on.

She sneered, "Teach me? With your skills? Are you serious? Being a high-level diviner isn't that impressive."

Then she let her aura loose. "Who isn't a high-level diviner?"

She wanted to provoke Ethan. If he wanted to test her, she'd have to show her strength anyway. Better to intimidate him a bit.

Ethan and his crew were stunned. Rage boiled within Ethan. Elizabeth had really become a high-level diviner. No wonder she was so cocky.

Why? It took him over a hundred years and some extreme measures to reach high-level diviner status. And he was stuck at mid-level, unable to progress. His lifespan was also thirty percent shorter than a normal high-level diviner. Otherwise, he wouldn't have needed such elaborate plans.

And Elizabeth, at just twenty, had become a high-level diviner. Her aura was strong. It was so unfair. Besides jealousy and envy, Ethan felt a bit of fear. He regretted not killing her earlier.

She was supposed to be just a key to absorbing the Generational Blessings of the Clark and Baker families. Now she was a major problem.

Ethan suppressed his anger. "So, you're a high-level diviner now. No wonder you're so arrogant. I guess we're equals."

Before, he might have risked injury to kill her himself. As a fellow high-level diviner, killing her wouldn't bring Celestial Condemnation. But he had been severely backlashed before. Fighting her now would shorten his lifespan again. There might be other risks too, so he didn't want to change it. He still needed someone else to take her out.

Elizabeth looked at him with a smirk. "Ethan, you've been hiding so long, you've gotten real sneaky!" His cautious ways explained how he'd stayed hidden for so many years.

Ethan wanted to kill her right then and there, but he couldn't. Trying to look like he didn't want to argue with a junior, he changed the subject. "Seems like you misunderstand me. Why don't we talk about Mr. Anderson's poison issue first?" Even if Elizabeth was a high-level diviner, getting rid of the poison bug wouldn't be easy. He was still needed.

Elizabeth sat down and pressed, "Ethan, you still haven't answered me. What are you really after?"

Ethan knew she wouldn't let it go. "I'm interested in a new mine the Anderson family found. I want to take some minerals I like." If it weren't for avoiding Celestial Condemnation, he would've just taken it without all this fuss.

He couldn't figure out how Elizabeth got so lucky to advance to a senior diviner. But with Wayne dead, she probably didn't know about the energy stone.

Elizabeth sneered, "Ethan, we're both high-level diviners now. Why keep hiding? Saying you're after some minerals is a joke. You're really after the energy stones, aren't you?"

Ethan was shocked. Then he replied cautiously, "I'm not sure if there are energy stones. I just want to check. If I find any, I'll take them as my reward."

He looked at the Anderson family members and added, "After all, detoxifying Mr. Anderson isn't easy. It takes a lot of effort and energy." Since Elizabeth knew, there was no point in hiding it. But it felt awful, as if she were controlling his actions. He hadn't felt this uncomfortable in years.

Elizabeth looked at him with a knowing smile. "I don't think you have much time left. What do you need energy stones for? To put them in your grave? That'd be a waste."

She wasn't scared of Ethan now. If he wanted a fight to the death, she might worry, but clearly, he didn't. So she spoke her mind freely.

While talking to Ethan, she kept watching his face. Ethan's profile did resemble Brenda's, and his nose was like Percy's. Plus, the dark energy was similar to what Percy and Ryan had encountered. With the earlier test, she was sure Ethan was Brenda's biological father. He was also the one who had killed her once and kept plotting against her. So Elizabeth was as rude as possible.

Elizabeth's words shocked everyone. They couldn't help but stare at Ethan. He didn't have much time left?

Ethan's face changed, eyes wide with surprise. How did Elizabeth know? She couldn't have seen it, right? He couldn't even see through her. Logically, his strength was greater, so she shouldn't be able to see through him.

His heart filled with rage. What he hated and feared most was people talking about his lifespan. Elizabeth not only mentioned it but also suggested he put the energy stones in his grave. Wasn't that basically cursing him to die?
