Chapter 471 Betty in the Past Life Dream (1)

Betty was taken to the hospital and fell into a coma. Although her condition wasn't very dangerous, she just wouldn't wake up.

Paul received a call from the servant and rushed to the hospital with his sons.

Lying on the hospital bed, Betty felt like she was floating. She then entered a dream that started from the day Elizabeth was brought back to the Clark Family. As an observer, Betty watched the events unfold.

She saw Elizabeth's care for the Clark Family and herself. Elizabeth didn't like to show off; she cared through her actions. For example, she made nutritious food for Betty, personally trying many herbs and only bringing the ones that tasted good and were effective. Betty was a bit picky; if something tasted bad, she couldn't swallow it, even if it was beneficial.

When Elizabeth did physical therapy for Betty, her eyes were filled with warmth. These were things Betty had overlooked at the time, but now they seemed very heartwarming. Betty knew these events had really happened because she still remembered them.

The dream included not just Elizabeth, but also Paul, the Clark brothers, and Brenda. Betty noticed that Brenda's care for her was superficial, mostly just words. For example, when she was sick and bedridden, Elizabeth would make porridge, do physical therapy, and stay by her side. Elizabeth even learned to cook and personally made their favorite dishes.

Brenda, on the other hand, only offered verbal concern and then went on with her own activities. The Clark brothers were slightly better than Brenda; besides verbal concern, they would accompany Betty to the hospital for check-ups, but these instances were rare and only happened after Elizabeth suggested it.

Then came the time when Brenda wanted Elizabeth's spot on a variety show. In the dream, Betty noticed that Brenda often said suggestive things to the family in secret, leading them to have a worse impression of Elizabeth. They increasingly felt that Elizabeth was targeting Brenda and causing trouble.

To Betty's surprise, in the dream, Elizabeth didn't decisively cut ties with them. Because she valued family, Elizabeth, although sarcastic, still gave up the variety show spot to Brenda. As an observer, Betty could see that Elizabeth was very disappointed in them, and she felt a pang of sadness in her heart.

After that, Brenda became famous through the variety show. Elizabeth went to act in a crew arranged by Richard, but the show never aired due to some issues. Betty noticed that after giving the spot to Brenda, Elizabeth started to distance herself from the family.

Elizabeth was acting in a film city in Clifftonshireburg but rarely came home and no longer sent them messages of concern. When the weather changed, she no longer reminded Betty to wear more clothes. When Betty felt unwell and hinted at it in a message to Elizabeth, Elizabeth only replied perfunctorily, telling her to take care of herself, and nothing more. She didn't come back to visit Betty, let alone make food or keep her company.

At that time, Betty felt uncomfortable and, influenced by Brenda's words, thought Elizabeth was throwing a tantrum and doing this on purpose. She asked Elizabeth to come home, but after Elizabeth declined, she didn't ask her again. She even gave up the idea of visiting Elizabeth on set.

After that, Brenda became a big star, supported by the Clark brothers and Eugene, and her career flourished. Elizabeth, however, didn't do well at Clark Entertainment and had almost no resources. Every time Richard, her agent, tried to get her better resources, Brenda would find a way to take them or transfer them to other artists.

Elizabeth's career in the entertainment industry didn't go well, but she never asked the Clark Family for help. When Richard and the company didn't provide resources, Elizabeth found them herself.

Then Elizabeth contacted a crew and went to a remote place to film. She didn't come home and didn't even send a message to inform the Clark Family; she went alone. When they found out, they felt uneasy and angry. To say they didn't care at all would be a lie. After all, Elizabeth was their family. After spending so much time with Elizabeth since she came back, how could they not have feelings for her?

But they always sided with Brenda, which completely disappointed Elizabeth. She didn't propose cutting ties, but it was obvious she was deliberately distancing herself and stopped interacting with them.

During the months she was away filming, Elizabeth rarely contacted them. When Kevin reached out, Elizabeth's response was cold. Her attitude made it clear that she was distancing herself from them. This left the Clark Family at a loss, not understanding why Elizabeth was acting this way.

Brenda hinted that Elizabeth was still angry about the variety show spot. After hearing it enough times, they thought Elizabeth was being petty. It was just a variety show spot; was it worth being angry for so long? They were family, after all; there was no need to be so distant.

Originally, they wanted Elizabeth to come back, but they gave up on the idea. They thought Elizabeth needed to experience some hardships to realize how tough it was outside and come back on her own. As long as Elizabeth admitted her mistakes and acted like she used to, they wouldn't hold it against her.

Betty knew that in the dream, she and her sons didn't truly not care about Elizabeth. On the contrary, they were not used to Elizabeth not coming home, deliberately distancing herself, and no longer caring for them like she used to. They actually missed the old days and wanted the family to go back to how it was.

But if they took the initiative to make up, they feared Elizabeth would come back and cause more trouble, continue targeting Brenda, and disrupt family harmony. They couldn't bring themselves to do it. So they continued the cold war with Elizabeth, hoping she would come back on her own.

The Betty in the dream might not have realized it yet, but the Betty observing the dream had discovered it. Elizabeth was very emotional and longed for family. When Elizabeth first came back, they welcomed and cared for her. So they received Elizabeth's doubled affection and actions in return.

They all understood this deep down, which was why they didn't appreciate Elizabeth's kindness toward them. They always thought that no matter what, they were family, and blood ties couldn't be severed. Elizabeth couldn't let go of them, so she would naturally come back. Just like before, Elizabeth would be unhappy about their favoritism toward Brenda and show it. But she still treated them like family and cared for them. So in their hearts, they believed Elizabeth wouldn't leave.

The next scene was Elizabeth returning after finishing the movie, but she didn't come to the Clark Family's home. When they found out, they felt uncomfortable and were so angry that they didn't contact Elizabeth, maintaining the mutual silence.

Until one day, not long after, they received a call from a kidnapper.
