Chapter 320 It Seems You've Finally Gotten Smart This Time
As soon as Elizabeth dropped that bomb, everyone turned to stare at her. Brenda felt like her chest was about to explode. Could Elizabeth know about the pendant? No freakin' way.
She pulled herself together and shot Elizabeth a look, saying, "I have no clue what you're on about. I'm just here to look after Enrique in the hospital, keep him company. Why are you getting in my way? This ain't got nothing to do with you, right?"
Basically, she was telling Elizabeth to butt out.
Elizabeth raised an eyebrow and shot back, "Getting nervous, are we? Scared I'll spill the tea on your dirty deeds?"
Brenda forced herself to stay cool, saying, "I haven't done anything. Stop making stuff up."
Enrique felt a bad vibe. He couldn't help but ask, "Elizabeth, what are you talking about? Can you be a bit clearer?"
Elizabeth turned to him and said, "Haven't you noticed the beads on your bracelet are almost all busted?"
Enrique hadn't even noticed. He couldn't lift his hand, so he told Kevin, "Check out my bracelet."
Kevin stepped up and tried to take the bracelet off.
As soon as he did, the beads shattered one by one, hitting the floor.
Kevin was stunned and asked, "What's going on? Isn't this thing supposed to be a divination tool? How'd it break?"
Brenda started to freak out. She hadn't expected Enrique's bracelet to fall apart. It must've been from holding back bad luck.
Her mind raced, and she immediately accused Elizabeth, "Elizabeth, did you do this? How could you be so cruel! Even if Enrique treated you worse than me before, you can't harm him like this. Without this bracelet, what's he gonna do? He's still hurt."
She pointed to the door and yelled, "Get out; you're not welcome here."
She just wanted Elizabeth and the others to leave ASAP, so she took the initiative.
Elizabeth could see Brenda's nerves, fear, and guilt. She sneered, "Playing the blame game again? Haven't you learned anything?" She looked at Enrique and asked, "Do you really believe I broke your bracelet?"
This time, Enrique wasn't confused. He said firmly, "No, I know you. If you wanted to mess with me, you'd do it straight up. You wouldn't play dirty."
He also noticed Brenda seemed desperate to get Elizabeth out. That meant she was feeling guilty. So what had she done this time?
He was dying to know, so he asked, "Elizabeth, why did the bracelet break? Spill it."
Elizabeth said, "It was overloaded with holding back your bad luck. Once it couldn't take anymore, it shattered." She then asked, "Didn't you notice that after getting to Soule Field, your bad luck came back?"
Enrique thought for a moment and said, "Yeah, especially after the competition started, I felt something was off."
He choked on water and got hurt with every bump; he hadn't thought much of it before, but now it seemed just like when his bad luck started in Clifftonshireburg.
His heart sank, and he asked, "What's going on? Is Brenda sucking up my Generational Blessings again?"
Brenda's face changed, and she immediately said, "I didn't." She then looked at Enrique with pleading eyes. "Enrique, don't listen to Elizabeth's crap. She's trying to mess us up."
Enrique was already done with her. He wanted to know what Brenda had done this time, so he said coldly, "Shut up. I only want to hear Elizabeth now. If you keep this up, you can leave."
Brenda freaked out even more and tried to grab Enrique's hand, saying, "Enrique, I..."
But before she could reach him, Kevin stepped in and blocked her.
Kevin grabbed her arm and pulled her back a bit, his patience wearing thin. He shouted, "Brenda, stop causing trouble or get out. The doc just said Enrique can't take any more stress, or he'll get worse. You trying to grab him like this, you want to make him suffer more?"
Brenda was just doing her usual thing, trying to keep the relationship close. She hadn't thought about how it might mess with Enrique's injury. She cried and shook her head, "I didn't mean to! I just don't want Enrique to misunderstand me."
Kevin frowned and said, "Whether it's a misunderstanding, we'll find out soon. Your eagerness to stop this just shows your guilt."
Brenda wanted to speak, but Enrique cut her off, "Stop it; let Elizabeth talk." He then looked at Elizabeth again, saying, "Please continue."
Elizabeth smirked and said, "Looks like you're finally catching on this time."
Enrique stayed silent, feeling like she was calling him dumb before. This made him realize something. "You mean, after going to Soule Field, Brenda started sucking up my Generational Blessings again? Had she not finished borrowing the ones I lent her earlier?"
Elizabeth said, "Before, the Generational Blessings were borrowed naturally, but after going to Soule Field, they were forcibly taken."
She pointed to the pendant around Enrique's neck, now exposed, and continued, "Before going to Soule Field, didn't she specifically give you this pendant?"
At these words, both Enrique and Brenda's faces changed. Enrique's eyes widened, and he asked, "This thing is sucking up my Generational Blessings?"
Elizabeth replied, "What else? Did you think it was something good?"
Enrique was momentarily stunned, then he murmured gloomily, "When she gave it to me, she said it was a protective Spellscroll. She didn't want me to get into trouble at Soule Field, so she insisted on giving it to me."
Elizabeth sneered, "Only you would believe that. Among your brothers, you are indeed the dumbest."
She then looked at Kevin and asked, "If it were you, would you believe it?"
Kevin shook his head, replying, "Definitely not." He then looked at Enrique and asked, "Enrique, why don't you learn from your mistakes? She's used these things to harm you several times, and you still believe her. She gives it to you, and you take it. Who else but you would fall for it?"
He was puzzled as to why Enrique kept having bad luck after going to Soule Field. It turned out Brenda was behind it again. At the same time, he became more vigilant, deciding never to accept anything from Brenda in the future.
Richard and Arnold, who were watching the live stream, had the same thought.
Enrique's face showed a look of despair as he said, "How was I supposed to know she would be so cruel to me?"
Now that he thought about it, he felt he had been too foolish before. He actually believed her words, thinking it was a protective Spellscroll. Glaring at Brenda, he struggled to contain a wave of anger that made him feel like he could spit nails.
Enrique remarked bitterly, "So, it was all a ploy to drain my Generational Blessings and make me even more unlucky and miserable."
"Brenda, I accepted that I voluntarily gave you so many Generational Blessings before. But why do you still want to harm me, continuously harming me? Will you not be satisfied until you kill me?" Enrique asked angrily.
This was the Brenda he had loved for over ten years; how cruel could she be!
