Chapter 285 What a Coincidence

Zachary flashed a warm, genuine smile. "My mentor's a total pro at this stuff. I started learning from him when I was just a kid."

Elizabeth nodded, taking it all in. "Got it. You must be pretty high up in the divination game then. I can't even get a read on your destiny. That means you might be better than me."

Elizabeth was half-guessing, half-stating the obvious. Unable to read his destiny, which was rare, it hinted that Zachary was either highly skilled or hiding something significant. Plus, she noticed he wasn't related to Brenda or the others by blood, so he wasn't one of those mysterious figures' kids.

Elizabeth thought it over, trying to piece things together. Zachary seemed to have hit the top level of a divination master. But he was so young, which either meant he was an anomaly or had a big secret.

Zachary's smile turned a bit mysterious. "Not really. I can't see through your destiny either. Your skills are pretty impressive."

While Elizabeth was checking him out, he was doing the same to her. It surprised him that he couldn't read her destiny. But her skills were only at an intermediate level.

Logically, this should only happen with high-level divination masters. It also meant something must've happened to her.

The more he couldn't figure her out, the more curious and interested he got.

Elizabeth grinned. "You're too humble. How about we have a little competition sometime?"

Zachary nodded with a smile. "Yeah, I was thinking the same thing."

Elizabeth felt a spark of excitement. Zachary wasn't just a potential rival; he was a top-tier one. His timing and natural talents really piqued her curiosity. Why did Zachary have Wayne's seal? She casually asked, smiling, "Is your mentor part of the Divination Association? Maybe we've crossed paths."

She added, "But if it's a hassle to share, just forget it."

Zachary's smile stayed steady. "No hassle at all. My mentor is Xavier Henderson. You might know him."

Elizabeth's eyes widened in genuine surprise. "Mr. Henderson? That makes you my senior then."

Zachary had mentioned being twenty-five earlier, older than her. Xavier being involved added more layers to the mystery. What was his role in all this? Her gut told her it wasn't just a coincidence.

Zachary grinned widely, "Yeah, we're definitely fated. When I found out you were on the show, thanks to Xavier mentioning you and showing me your photo, I couldn't resist joining." He added, "Because of our shared fate, the seal naturally ended up with you."

Elizabeth caught on to what Zachary was hinting at. He knew about the seal's backstory. She smiled."So, there's a connection. Did Wayne give you the seal?"

Zachary nodded. "You're sharp. I've only met Wayne three times. The last time, he handed me the seal, but it slipped and fell. A sign it wasn't meant for me. Wayne told me to hold onto it until I met its true owner. Three years later, here you are."

Elizabeth said, "Is that so? What a coincidence."

She smiled wider. "I thought you left the seal in the shop, waiting for me, the destined one."

Zachary was taken aback for a moment, then laughed. "If you want to see it that way, sure."

Elizabeth switched gears. "Is Xavier in Aevum City? I was thinking of visiting him after the show."

Zachary said, "He's out on business and won't be back until next month."

Elizabeth smiled with a hint of disappointment. "Guess I'll miss him this time."

Zachary smiled. "There'll be plenty of chances in the future."

As they chatted, Elizabeth found herself more and more curious about Zachary. Nearby, Kevin and Eugene overheard the conversation, shocked by how close Zachary and Elizabeth seemed. The livestream chat was buzzing, amazed by the twists of fate and loving how well the two looked together.

Ten minutes later, they walked into the restaurant. Raymond was in his zone, cleaning tables like a pro. Enrique, on the other hand, was lazily moving chairs, clearly not into it.

When Raymond saw Elizabeth, his face lit up with a genuine smile. "Hello, Elizabeth."

Elizabeth's eyes sparkled with a smile. "Hi, we came to have dinner with you. Where's Nancy? Are you guys almost done?"

Raymond replied, "I'll be done after I clean these two tables. Nancy's in the kitchen, almost finished. You guys go to the private room and order. We'll join you when we're done."

Elizabeth asked, "Need any help?"

Raymond shook his head. "No need. You've been working hard doing makeup for everyone all afternoon. Just take a good rest now."

The restaurant customers had praised Elizabeth's amazing makeup skills, noting how quick yet flawless her work was. Raymond felt proud but also worried; her nonstop work was clearly wearing her out.

Elizabeth sensed Raymond's concern and felt a warm glow. "You know what, I am kinda beat. We'll wait in the private room, then."

"Okay." Raymond nodded, leading them to the private room with a considerate demeanor that didn't go unnoticed by Kevin and Eugene.

They couldn't help but feel a bit jealous of Raymond's attentiveness, realizing they had missed the chance to show the same thoughtfulness. Watching Elizabeth do makeup and coordinate outfits seemed so easy. They hadn't thought about how exhausting it could be, so they hadn't said anything considerate back then.
