Chapter 91 Absolutely Impossible
Elbert looked surprised. "You mean the one Daniel Taylor's filming?"
He knew a supporting actor in that show and had seen the script. He loved the second male lead role, but it was already cast, and his agent wouldn't fight for it anyway.
Elizabeth nodded. "Yep, that's the one."
Elbert, thinking Elizabeth didn't know the details, said, "I heard the main investor pulled out, so it might not get filmed."
Elizabeth smiled and patted Rebecca's shoulder. "No worries, Rebecca's the new investor."
Rebecca grinned. "Yep, I'm the investor now."
They'd already talked to the director, who was thrilled about the investment, and they had a dinner meeting set for tonight.
Elizabeth was confident and believed she wouldn't fail.
Hearing this, the three were even more surprised. They didn't expect Rebecca to invest directly. The studio seemed well-funded, thanks to the Baker company, and very efficient, which reassured them.
Elbert smiled. "Thanks, Ms. Clark and Ms. Baker."
He loved acting and needed money, so he decided to switch jobs.
Elizabeth smiled back. "We're all on the same team now, no need for formalities."
She turned to Gilbert. "My plan is to release a new song first. Once it's recorded, we'll aim to get it trending on various apps. If it becomes popular, you can go on a variety show to boost your exposure."
She didn't want them constantly on variety shows but knew they were great for gaining fans.
"You'll all need to participate in shows like this: after the variety show, Emily and Elbert will keep acting, and Gilbert will release new songs."
She added, "If you have your own ideas, let me know. If Emily and Elbert want to release songs or Gilbert wants to act, we can arrange that."
Gilbert shook his head. "Acting's not for me."
He loved singing, and that was his passion.
Elizabeth smiled. "Passion is important, so I won't force you. Take the contracts home and review them. If you're interested, our legal advisor will help you sign."
She added, "Mr. Simmons will also help you terminate your contracts with Clark Entertainment."
Emily said, "Please have Mr. Simmons help me terminate my contract soon."
She was fed up with Clark Entertainment and wanted out.
Elbert and Gilbert agreed. "Us too, please help us terminate our contracts ASAP."
They'd wanted to leave Clark Entertainment but hadn't found the right opportunity. Other companies had harsh conditions, so they stayed put.
After talking with Elizabeth, they felt hopeful. The contract terms and freedom were appealing, and she had a solid plan for their future.
They chatted a bit more and exchanged contact.
Elizabeth and Rebecca left first.
Herman stayed to discuss contract terminations with the three. They were under different agents and Elizabeth's studio even covered their termination fees, making it easier to leave. Plus, Herman had a good relationship with the HR director, so they managed to get the terminations done very soon.
The three went at different times to sign the termination contracts, pretending not to know each other. Since they were being neglected by the company, their departure didn't surprise anyone. Many thought Emily should have left long ago, given her bad reputation and lack of prospects.
Harold and the bad woman heard about this but didn't care. They believed Emily had no chance of a comeback and were just waiting for her to be forced out of the industry.
A male artist who always targeted Elbert thought Elbert was done for. He assumed Elbert would join a small company to be exploited or switch careers. He didn't think Elbert could ever return to the top.
In an office, Arnold's assistant walked in. "Arnold, HR just said Gilbert terminated his contract and left today."
Arnold, inspired and writing a new song, looked up. "Was he poached by another company?"
Arnold disliked Gilbert, who he found arrogant despite his talent. He wouldn't let Gilbert rise, especially since the company belonged to his family.
The assistant replied, "I heard he's going to a small studio."
Arnold sneered. "He couldn't make it here, and he thinks he can make it in a small studio? Naive. Maybe he's just writing songs for others now. He's really fallen."
"For someone with no future, we don't need to pay attention to him anymore," Arnold added, convinced Gilbert would soon disappear from the industry.
Richard was even more indifferent. After his assistant mentioned it, he didn't respond, focusing instead on banning Herman from the industry.
Meanwhile, Elizabeth and Rebecca had someone clean and set up their rented office space. They then met Daniel at a restaurant and finalized the investment contract. Daniel welcomed Elbert into the crew.
The next day, with Rebecca's funds in place, Daniel resumed filming. At Rebecca's request, he removed two artists from Clark Entertainment from the crew. These two had been forced into the crew by their agents and had poor acting skills and bad tempers, which Daniel disliked. Since Rebecca requested it, he had no hesitation in sending them back.
At Clark Group, the agent of the two artists angrily ran to Richard's office.
