Chapter 467 How Can You Be So Heartless!

Betty had seen Paul disappointed before, but it was the first time she saw him so indifferent. She felt a bit panicked and argued, "Those things were done by Brenda's biological parents; they have nothing to do with her. We've raised her for so many years, there's no need to take it out on her. After all, she was innocent back then, she was just a little kid herself."

Paul frowned, "She was innocent as a child, but she schemed against our sons' Generational Blessings, that's a fact. And she's the daughter of our enemies. Seeing her reminds me of what her parents did, and it makes me sick. How can you still stay with her?"

Richard chimed in, "Yeah, she's the daughter of our enemies. Whether she's innocent or not, shouldn't your first reaction be to feel bad when you see her? Mom, you treated Brenda like a princess and raised her so well, did you ever think about Elizabeth?"

Kevin couldn't hold back either, "While you were doting on Brenda, Elizabeth almost got sold off." Back then, everyone said it was his fault that Elizabeth got lost, but it had actually been Brenda's biological parents who did it. He still felt guilty toward Elizabeth, but he was even more disgusted by Brenda.

Enrique added, "Mom, I'm a living example. Brenda harmed me, and now I'm still in a wheelchair." Ever since he was harmed, his life had been miserable. He no longer had any sibling affection for Brenda, only a deep-seated loathing.

Betty's face turned a bit gloomy, and she felt embarrassed hearing their questioning.

She retorted, "That was all in the past, why do you keep harping on it? And since you can't stand Brenda, haven't I already moved out with her? What more do you want?"

She actually regretted it in her heart, but she was unwilling to admit it in public. Especially under Paul's and her sons' relentless questioning, she couldn't back down; otherwise, it would really be her fault.

Brenda cursed Ethan in her heart for being useless. He was the president of the Divination Association, supposedly one of the best. Yet he got caught and confessed so quickly. He even let Paul and the others know about the past, wasn't that harming her?

Luckily, Betty had a strong sense of pride and face; otherwise, Betty might have abandoned her by now. She just hoped Betty could hold on, as long as Betty didn't abandon her, she could still live a good life.

Brenda walked to the sofa and half-knelt in front of Betty. She leaned her head on Betty's leg, her eyes red with dependence and gratitude, muttering, "Mom, thank you."

Betty reached out and patted her shoulder without saying a word. The others present looked at the two of them and felt even more disgusted.

Paul took a deep breath, "Fine, you two have such a good relationship, then you can live your lives together. Betty, your choices and actions have crossed my bottom line, I can't tolerate it anymore." He looked at Betty, who still didn't think she was wrong, and his tone became heavier, "Let's get a divorce."

Betty was first stunned, then asked in disbelief, "What did you say?"

Paul repeated, "I said, let's get a divorce. I'll take my sons, and you can live with your beloved Brenda, and we'll stay out of each other's way."

Betty hadn't expected that Paul wasn't here to beg her back today, but to divorce her. She couldn't help but push Brenda away and grabbed Paul's arm. She questioned, "After all these years, you actually want a divorce. How can you be so heartless!"

Paul let her grab him and replied angrily, "Am I heartless? It's clearly you who are muddle-headed."

Betty started crying, "How am I muddle-headed? I just want someone to keep me company. Neither you nor our sons keep me company, only Brenda is always by my side. What's wrong with letting her stay?"

Paul frowned even deeper, "If you think there's nothing wrong, then you two can live together."

Betty shook her head firmly. "No, I don't want a divorce. At my age, you might not care about the embarrassment, but I do." How could she face her circle of wealthy friends if they divorced? When she married Paul, it wasn't just for convenience; she genuinely liked him. Over the years, he hadn't strayed like many men in their social circle. Their relationship had always been good, and they were known as a loving couple. She still had feelings for him and had never considered divorcing Paul.

Paul knew Betty wouldn't agree, but he understood her. So he said, "It's okay if you don't agree. I'll file for divorce anyway. I don't mind the embarrassment. I'll make public how you doted on Brenda and neglected our biological children. And how you transferred your parasites to Zephyr. I'll reveal everything. That's my reason for divorce. I believe if everyone knew the truth, they would only support me and applaud my decision."

Betty had a strong sense of pride, always holding onto her identity as a wealthy lady and Paul's wife. If such things were publicized, she would be utterly humiliated and unwilling to face the world. She looked at him in disbelief, her voice trembling, "You actually want to be so ruthless to me?"

Paul met her gaze steadily. "I chose to be ruthless because you forced me. This is the divorce agreement. Take a look. I'll give you everything you're legally entitled to." He handed her the document, his expression resolute. After so many years of marriage, he didn't want to haggle over the property. He wouldn't shortchange her a penny of what she deserved.

Betty grabbed the divorce agreement without looking at it and tore it into pieces, her hands shaking with anger. She pushed Paul with all her might, shouting, "Get out, get out now! I don't want to see you!"

Paul sighed, knowing she wouldn't agree at this moment. "Think it over and give me an answer tomorrow. If you don't respond or disagree, I'll have the lawyer file for divorce. And I'll tell everything I just said to the media. You know my temperament; you can try me if you don't believe me. It doesn't matter if you tore up the divorce agreement, I have the original. I'll send you an electronic copy later. If you delete it, I can send it again. I'll wait for your call tomorrow." He finished, straightened his suit, and turned to leave.

Betty couldn't accept the reality of Paul leaving so decisively. How could such a small matter escalate to the point of divorce? How could he be so heartless?

After Paul's figure disappeared, Betty turned to her four sons, her voice quivering with desperation. "Are you just going to watch your parents get divorced? Seeing your dad want a divorce and not stopping him?"

Richard shrugged, his expression indifferent. "If Dad wants a divorce, what can we do? And I think Dad is right. Mom, you like Brenda so much; you can live well with Brenda in the future. We, your biological sons, mean nothing to you."

Arnold nodded in agreement. "I second that."

Enrique and Kevin also spoke up, "Richard spoke our minds."

Betty was so enraged by their words that she trembled all over. She slapped Richard hard across the face, then grabbed Kevin and Arnold, tearing at them like a madwoman. "You unfilial sons, I raised you for nothing!" she shouted.

Enrique, sitting in a wheelchair, managed to avoid the beating. Richard and the other two didn't expect Betty to vent her anger on them again. Although they accepted it, they were once again disheartened by Betty's actions. In front of Brenda, they, her biological sons, were so unimportant?

At that moment, they suddenly empathized with Elizabeth. And once again, they regretted the foolish things they had done in the past.
