Chapter 114 But It's Clearly Not Like That

Brenda took out her phone and snapped a selfie. No sign of a hit on her face.

"Does my face look like it's been hit?" she asked Richard.

She planned to use her swollen face against Elizabeth, but now it looked fine.

Richard, holding his stomach and chest, replied, "Nope, doesn't look like it."

Elizabeth hadn't hit Brenda that hard after all.

Brenda felt frustrated. Elizabeth had slapped her several times, but there were no marks.

Anyone would think she was barely touched, but that wasn't true.

With teary eyes, she said, "My face really hurts, like it's burning."

Richard, in more pain himself, thought Brenda was being inconsiderate. Didn't she care about him?

With her smooth face, how could it hurt that much?

His patience was wearing thin. "It'll be fine soon."

Brenda was silent. Why wasn't Richard comforting her, holding her, checking her face?

Angela touched her face and said, "My face hurts like it's burning too."

She was genuinely in pain, not faking it.

Hubert, still in shock from being beaten and scolded by Rebecca, wasn't in the mood to comfort her.

One of the young men there said, "Ahem, your faces don't look that bad. Mr. Diaz and Mr. Clark, on the other hand, look pretty beat up."

Others felt Brenda and Angela were exaggerating.

Judging by the injuries, the two men were clearly hurt worse.

The women, though hit, didn't even have red faces. How painful could it be?

Being dramatic was usually fine, but not now.

Brenda and Angela were silent. What did these men know? They were really in pain!

Richard saw Hubert still dazed and said irritably, "Hubert, are you dumb from the beating? I told you Rebecca isn't well-behaved. She even hits Eugene in public, let alone you. You didn't believe me, and now look, she's even corrupted Elizabeth."

He thought Elizabeth hitting him was because of Rebecca's influence.

Hubert snapped out of it at Richard's words.

"I just didn't expect them to be so ruthless."

He had sympathized with Eugene before, but now he was more hurt.

"Do you think if Eugene had come today, he would have been beaten too?"

Richard sneered, "I got hit, do you think that guy who is believed to be a cheater could escape? I was dragged into this by you guys."

Then he said, "You should have brought Eugene out today."

If Elizabeth wanted to hit someone, she should have hit Eugene!

Hubert agreed, "I really should have insisted he come along."

It shouldn't be just them getting hit!

Good friends should endure together.

He looked at Richard and asked, "What do we do now?"

Besides being embarrassed, he felt particularly upset.

There was also a kind of heartache, like he was about to lose Rebecca.

Richard's face darkened. "We can't just take this beating for nothing."

If it blew up, they couldn't afford to lose face, but they could hold something over Elizabeth.

"Let's get the surveillance footage of us being hit and make a copy. If they still act tough, I'll sue them."

Elizabeth had just become popular, and such a video online would be bad for her.

If Elizabeth wanted to stay in the entertainment industry, she'd have to yield to them.

Hubert frowned. "Suing them is too much."

Richard was exasperated. "Too much? Should we just take the beating? You might like being abused, but I don't. I don't plan to sue right away; I just want them to apologize and yield."

Hubert thought for a moment. "Threaten Elizabeth all you want, but leave Rebecca out of it."

Rebecca had already argued with him, and he didn't want to push her further away. He couldn't tolerate anyone bullying her, not even Richard.

Richard rolled his eyes. "You and Eugene are pathetic."

One was harmed by Elizabeth and still wanted to reconcile. The other was beaten in public and still wanted to protect Rebecca.

Richard sneered, "Do you guys have a masochistic tendency?"

Hubert gave him a cold look. "You don't understand matters of the heart. So shut up."

The atmosphere turned cold, and everyone else felt awkward.

'How could these two start arguing after being beaten? Were their brains damaged from the beating?'

Richard snorted, "If you guys want to be pathetic, go ahead. I'm not playing along."

He stood up, holding his stomach and chest, and asked someone nearby to help him get the surveillance footage from the manager.

Brenda was secretly pleased. Richard was protecting her and wouldn't let Elizabeth off. She endured the pain in her face and followed him.

Hubert thought for a moment and followed too.

Angela felt very upset. She hadn't expected that after being beaten by Rebecca in public, Hubert was still thinking about and protecting Rebecca. She was indignant and resentful, hating Rebecca even more. She hoped Richard and Brenda would sue them and get them detained. She got up and followed behind Hubert.

The others looked at each other. What could they do? Of course, they continued to follow and watch the drama.

The manager knew them, so when Richard asked to see and copy the surveillance footage, he took them to the surveillance room.

The surveillance room was usually unguarded because this bar had connections, and few people dared to cause trouble here.

In the surveillance room, the manager pulled up the footage from the second floor at the time they mentioned. He played it for them and asked, "Is this the part you want to copy?"

He was internally mocking, wondering if Richard had some special kink. Wanting to copy a video of him holding Brenda was too perverted.

This manager usually liked to watch entertainment news online when he was bored, so he knew about Richard, his sister, and Elizabeth.

After watching the video, Richard was completely stunned. The people behind him were even more shocked.

One person stammered, "How is this possible?"

Another couldn't believe it. "Did we just have a hallucination?"

Another swallowed, "Did we encounter a ghost?"

The surveillance footage showed no scene of Rebecca and Elizabeth hitting anyone. It just looked like they were chatting and drinking, and then Rebecca and Elizabeth left hand in hand shortly after. Not only was there no hitting, but they didn't even say a word to Richard or Hubert.

What was even more shocking was that from the moment they appeared on camera, Hubert's hand and face were already bruised.

And the time on the video was running normally, not a second off.

It was really strange!
