Chapter 420 Elizabeth Had a Plan Brewing
Everyone turned to look at Arnold, who felt like he was under a spotlight. Awkwardly, he stammered, "I said I wanted to write a new song, and they said this place was good. Just happened to see you guys, didn't know you'd be here too."
Trying to break the ice, he raised his hand and waved at Elizabeth, forcing a smile. "What a coincidence!"
Elizabeth sneered. "You guys keep performing," she said dismissively, turning on her heel and leaving with the others.
Rebecca shot them a fierce glare. "Don't follow us, or I'll beat you up," she threatened.
Raymond looked at Kevin. "You guys really found this place," he remarked casually. "Even though I posted on Facebook, I didn't say which hotel we were staying at. So you must have looked up Elizabeth and Rebecca." He shook his head, clearly thinking they were delusional for trying to outsmart him.
Elizabeth and Rebecca whipped their heads back toward the five, their eyes filled with suspicion. The five men cursed inwardly, 'Great, Raymond is still as unhelpful as ever.'
Hubert sighed, raising his hands in surrender. "Alright, we admit it. Eugene found out which hotel you were staying at, and then I booked the rooms."
Eugene was left speechless as Hubert threw him under the bus. Before he could protest, Richard and the others chimed in.
"Yeah, it was Eugene who found out," Richard insisted. "We just followed."
Elizabeth rolled her eyes, glaring at Eugene specifically. "From now on, do your own thing and stay away from us," she demanded. She wasn't blind to the fact that the rest were pinning the blame on Eugene, but she didn't care.
Eugene sighed, defeated. "Yes, we'll stay out of your way." He felt like an absolute fool. He had taken Elizabeth's past kindness for granted and now seeing her ready to snap at him still felt better than her ignoring his existence altogether. If enduring her scorn brought even a flicker of her attention, he was willing to take it.
Then Elizabeth and the others went to explore the town, while the five went back to the hotel to rest. After entering the hotel, Eugene and the other three teamed up to blame Hubert.
Hubert was too cunning and shameless. He had suggested and arranged everything, but pushed all the blame onto them.
Hubert felt bitter inside, if he didn't do this, Rebecca would definitely be more annoyed with him. But it also showed he was smart, bringing these people along not only to bear Rebecca's anger but also to share the burden.
In the evening, Elizabeth and her friends chose a unique local restaurant for dinner, only for the five men to show up shortly after, with the feigned nonchalance of "what a coincidence." Frustrated, Elizabeth and Rebecca decided to ignore them.
When the dinner bill came, Hubert jumped at the chance to pay for both tables, beating Raymond to it. Raymond, intending to cover their meal, was irked. Then he went to Rebecca and badmouthed Hubert.
Rebecca was truly done with Hubert and was now a bit annoyed with him. She also knew these shameless men wouldn't leave no matter how much she scolded them. So she told Raymond not to bother, if Hubert wanted to pay, let him.
As Elizabeth and the others were getting ready to leave, Kevin decided to make a bold move. Standing at a distance, he struck a dramatic pose, making sure Arnold captured Elizabeth and her friends in the background. He smirked, planning to post the photo on Facebook to make it look like he was on a trip with Elizabeth. Arnold followed suit, snapping a few of his own.
Elizabeth noticed their antics and saw an opportunity. "Are you going to post those on Facebook?" she asked casually.
Arnold, still posing, blurted out without thinking, "Yeah!" It had been a while since he had a photo with Elizabeth. Even if it was just a photobomb, it still counted, so of course, he wanted to post it on Facebook as a memento.
Realizing what he said, he awkwardly added, "But if you don't want us to, we won't."
Elizabeth shrugged. "I don't care, post if you want." She had a plan brewing. The public areas of the villa had surveillance, including the restaurant, and she knew Betty had recently scolded the three brothers for running off. If they posted now, she could only imagine the drama that would follow.
The three brothers, clueless to Elizabeth's scheme, thought she was in an unusually good mood. Richard even crouched down, snapping pictures with Elizabeth in the background.
Hubert felt Elizabeth's attitude toward the three brothers was a bit off. Seeing them taking pictures, he thought for a moment and offered, "Why don't you three brothers take a group photo? I'll take it for you."
Elizabeth deliberately letting them take pictures might have some plan, so he decided to help push it along.
The three brothers, seeing Elizabeth not objecting, happily agreed. Although they kept some distance, with the right angle, it looked like they were taking a group photo with their sister.
After they finished taking pictures, Elizabeth called the others to leave.
Richard and the others had arrived later, so they hadn't finished eating. The three brothers continued eating while posting on Facebook.
Kevin posted: [Caught the tail end of the trip, rare to have a photo with Elizabeth.] Attached several pictures. Arnold mimicked Kevin's post. Richard added his own sentimental touch, captioning his photos: [Rare moment with Elizabeth again, so touching!]
After posting, the three felt good and continued eating.
Back in Clifftonshireburg, Loren and Brenda had just finished dinner with Betty. Brenda habitually opened her phone to check Facebook. Then she saw three newly updated posts in a row.
After seeing who posted and the content, her eyes were filled with anger, and her face turned dark. The three had claimed to be busy yet were clearly tagging along with Elizabeth, grinning like fools in every photo. While Elizabeth in the background wasn't looking at the camera, talking to her friends. Or if she accidentally faced the camera, she was expressionless.
Clearly, Elizabeth still wasn't giving them any good face, and they shamelessly squeezed in.
Brenda was furious, and after thinking for a moment, she looked at Betty with a hesitant expression.
"Brenda, what's wrong?" Betty asked, noting Brenda's change in demeanor. 'Could it be another embarrassing thing exposed online?' she thought.
