Chapter 338 Totally Agree

Betty grew up in a rich family, and as the oldest daughter, she was pretty spoiled. The only hiccup was her rocky relationship with her sister. Her parents and two brothers adored her, so getting mocked by Leon was a first for her.

Paul didn't catch the details of the call, but he got the gist from Betty's reaction. He praised inwardly, 'Leon really nailed it.' He started to wonder if Betty had been brainwashed by Amy and was losing it.

After mulling it over, he looked at Betty seriously and said, "How about we see a psychiatrist? Or maybe a psychologist?" If she was brainwashed, a psychologist might help.

Betty snapped back to reality, glaring at him in disbelief. "You think I'm crazy too?"

Paul tried to be gentle. "If there's a problem, we need to face it. Let's go see someone."

Betty was so mad she could barely breathe. "Get out!" she yelled, storming out of the hospital room. She wasn't sick.

Paul and Enrique watched her leave, feeling helpless but not stopping her.

With no support from Paul or her family, Betty, a full-time housewife, had no one else to turn to. After storming out of the hospital, she had to rely on her assistant, Adeline Porter, to dig into the matter.

By the time she got back to her hotel in Aevum City, it was already evening. Adeline had finished her investigation and played the live video clips for Betty. When Betty saw the girl trapped in the yard and learned the police had found a body under the big tree, she was speechless.

She muttered, "Is this real? Did Caleb really do this?"

Adeline felt contempt; it was so obvious, yet Betty still doubted it. Caleb and his crew had done so many awful things they deserved the death penalty.

She just replied calmly, "Yes, I checked, and it's confirmed. The investigation into Caleb's murders is still ongoing. But the imprisonment, abuse of innocent women, trafficking, and illegal business dealings are all confirmed, and he confessed."

Adeline continued, "They even have ties with foreign forces, running a casino and trafficking people. They lure people into gambling, ruining many families. If convicted, he'll spend his life in prison. And if he's linked to murders, he might get the death penalty."

She cautiously added, "So, Mrs. Clark, you were probably deceived by Mrs. Baker."

Betty's face turned pale. She pulled out her phone to call Amy and confront her. Amy didn't expect so much dirt on Caleb to come out so fast. They didn't know Elizabeth had done something with dark energy to Caleb, making everything he did get exposed through coincidences. It also triggered the discovery of many hidden issues.

Caleb would even confess involuntarily.

Of course, Amy wouldn't admit this to Betty. She cried and said she had no idea about these things. The King Family called and said Caleb was framed by Elizabeth, so she believed it. Then she apologized to Betty.

Amy didn't want to lose Betty, who she could use against Elizabeth. She then told Betty about the hardships she faced being deceived by the King Family. This calmed the angry Betty, and she even comforted Amy a bit. After hanging up, Amy was furious. She cursed Betty as useless, unable to even handle Paul. If it were her, Orlando wouldn't dare disobey.

Although Caleb had done wrong, she couldn't bear to let him go to prison. Plus, the King Family kept urging her. She kept calling Orlando.

Orlando, who was abroad, deliberately turned off his phone. But his other work phone was on. He had set up call forwarding notifications, so he saw the constant reminders and his face turned ugly.

Orlando had always put up with Amy because of the fortune teller backing her, but he never thought Caleb would pull such inhumane stunts behind his back. It even dragged the Baker Family into the mess. Honestly, he couldn't care less about it and definitely wasn't going to help. If Caleb got the death penalty, he'd be thrilled. So, he decided to cut off contact with Amy for a while.

When he got back, Amy might throw a fit, and his patience with her was wearing thin. He just wanted to catch the mastermind behind all this and get rid of Amy for good.

With Orlando unreachable, Amy turned to her sons. She called Percy first. Percy saw her call and guessed what she wanted. He was trying to do good deeds to save his own skin and had no intention of helping Caleb. Amy was always irrational when it came to the King Family, so he put his phone on silent and ignored her.

After failing to reach Percy, Amy got an earful from Ada. After scolding her, Ada gave her an idea. Amy thought it made sense and decided to find Eugene.

At that moment, Eugene and Elizabeth had just gotten back to the hotel after their live stream. After leaving that yard, they returned back to continue their work.

Because of the previous incident, people who hadn't done anything wrong were seeking Elizabeth's help for readings, so she was busy until evening. They had dinner with two other groups and then returned the hotel together. Since it was still early, everyone proposed enjoying themselves in the courtyard.

Just as they sat down, Eugene's phone rang. He answered, and Amy's irritable voice came through. She started by scolding him for not helping Caleb.

Eugene got angry too, shouting, "Mom, Caleb has committed so many crimes. How could I help him? If you have nothing else to say, I'm hanging up."

Amy had completely lost her sense of right and wrong for the King Family. Why had he been so foolish to seek her affection before?

Amy initially intended to scold him, but sensing Eugene's displeasure, she had no choice but to switch to a gentler tone.

Eugene didn't want to listen. "I'm hanging up."

Amy quickly said, "Don't hang up. Eugene, can you really bear to see me sad and heartbroken? Your grandparents are so old. Can you bear to let them lose Caleb?"

Since scolding didn't work, she tried the emotional route, but Eugene replied, "Yes, I can. After all, Caleb brought this upon himself."

Amy was silent. She felt like she had given birth to Eugene for nothing. She couldn't help but command as usual, "I don't care. You must help Caleb with this."

Eugene frowned and sneered, "I'm just a celebrity. What can I do to help a criminal? Mom, are you out of your mind? Don't you even have this basic common sense?"

Amy was furious, shouting, "You're the one who's out of your mind. You can't help, but someone else can!"

Eugene asked, "Who?"

Amy said, "Elizabeth! She framed Caleb, so she has to take responsibility. Isn't she some kind of fortune teller? If she wants to, she can definitely save Caleb."

She then pretended to be magnanimous and said, "If she gets Caleb out, I'll agree to you two being together." At this very moment, only Elizabeth could save Caleb.

For the sake of Caleb, she pondered over and over again, concluding that she must endure for now. She had always believed that Elizabeth loved Eugene so deeply that she could never leave him; their previous breakup was merely a ploy to make Eugene treat her better.

Additionally, Ada was right: by allowing Elizabeth into the Baker Family, she could deal with her as she pleased, just as Janet had once dealt with her. This was something she hadn't considered before. Thus, she decided to agree to the arrangement, planning to take her revenge on Elizabeth once she became part of the Baker Family.

Eugene was silent. Orlando and Rebecca had said before that Amy was self-righteous and foolish. He hadn't really believed it then. Now, after hearing her words, he couldn't agree more.
