Chapter 492 Epilogue: Life in the Past (Part 2)
Eugene felt as if his heart was being tightly squeezed by a hand, the pain almost suffocating him. "No, Elizabeth can't be dead."
He then rushed into the emergency room.
Seeing the bed covered with a white sheet, he immediately ran over and pulled it off.
Holding Elizabeth, he said, "Elizabeth, don't scare me, I'm really afraid."
"Open your eyes and look at me."
"I haven't explained to you yet, how can you just fall asleep?"
He was so panicked that he felt completely drained, with red-rimmed eyes he said, "I was wrong, I shouldn't have chosen Brenda earlier."
"As long as you wake up, I'll do anything you want, okay?"
Betty also rushed in, looking at Elizabeth's pale face. "Elizabeth, don't sleep, look at me."
"We didn't choose you earlier not because we don't love you, but because we thought you were stronger and could fight, with better self-defense skills."
"Don't scare us, we were wrong, wake up!"
The Clark sons couldn't believe it, Elizabeth was actually dead.
Whether they could accept it or not, Elizabeth was indeed dead.
Eugene held Elizabeth's cold body and cried bitterly, "Elizabeth, don't leave me."
"You said we grew up together and would be together for life."
"We're not done, I can't let you go, I love you!"
Betty and the Clark sons were also heartbroken and started crying.
Eugene held onto Elizabeth's body until the evening.
Whenever someone tried to pull him away, he would break down and hold Elizabeth tighter.
It wasn't until Orlando heard the news and rushed over with Amy.
Seeing Eugene like this, Orlando felt terrible too.
He didn't expect Elizabeth to die.
He originally thought it would be good for Eugene and Elizabeth to separate, so she wouldn't be dragged into their family's mess and get hurt.
Orlando tried to persuade Eugene, but he wouldn't listen, just holding onto Elizabeth.
Amy didn't expect Elizabeth to die either, but she thought it was better this way.
Now the Clark family's only daughter was Brenda, and Elizabeth wouldn't be entangled with Eugene anymore.
"Eugene, she's already dead, are you crazy, holding onto a dead person?"
"With something like this happening, I know you're upset, but I hope you can be rational and calm."
She even used a commanding tone, "Let her go and come home with me."
Given how much Eugene cared about and listened to her, he would go home with her no matter how upset he was.
But Eugene was only filled with collapse and anger at this moment.
He looked at Amy with bloodshot eyes, "It's all your fault, if you hadn't insisted that I protect Brenda, how could I have chosen her first."
"Elizabeth was killed, are you happy now, how can you be so cruel."
"I caused Elizabeth's death, but you're an accomplice too."
"Mom, do you hate me so much? Do you have to harm the Elizabeth I love to be happy?"
Amy didn't expect Eugene to say such things.
She was so angry she almost fainted, "You, you bastard, what are you saying? Are you crazy?"
Eugene looked crazed, "Yes, I'm crazy. Get out."
Amy wanted to scold more, but Orlando pulled her away.
He didn't have the mood to pretend to comfort her, and had his assistant forcibly take her away, afraid of further agitating Eugene.
Eugene still wouldn't let go of Elizabeth, so in the end, Orlando asked the doctor for a sedative.
He comforted Eugene while injecting it into him.
Only then did Eugene let go.
Bishop and Samantha heard the news and brought the rest of the Clark family to the hospital.
They hadn't spent much time with Elizabeth, but she was still a Clark.
Betty and her sons must have been out of their minds to choose Brenda.
Bishop and Samantha couldn't hold back and harshly scolded Betty and the Clark sons.
Then they went to handle Elizabeth's funeral.
Paul also rushed back from abroad that night.
After understanding the situation, he couldn't hold back.
With red eyes, he slapped each of his five sons, "You are all bastards, you caused Elizabeth's death."
Then he looked at Betty with disappointment and confusion, "And you, Elizabeth was our biological daughter, how could you give up on her."
Betty cried and shook her head, "I didn't want to give up on her, I really didn't know the kidnappers would kill."
Elizabeth was shot because of their choice, and this result made her collapse.
Paul also wanted to collapse, feeling very guilty.
He had been busy with work and neglected Elizabeth, which ultimately led to this result.
A day later, at Elizabeth's funeral, Rebecca finally got the news and rushed back from abroad.
She immediately grabbed Eugene by the collar.
Slapping him several times, she said, "I never thought you would cause Elizabeth's death for Brenda."
"Eugene, you're such a bastard."
"What right do you have to stay here with Elizabeth?"
"You're just like your mom, both cold-blooded and heartless animals."
She had already fainted once on the plane from crying.
Now her eyes were severely swollen, and she cried and yelled, "I don't have relatives like you."
"From today on, I sever all ties with you. You are no longer my brother."
"You don't deserve to be my brother."
Then she looked at Betty and the others, "Stop pretending. Elizabeth wouldn't want to see disgusting people like you."
"You don't deserve to be her family; you're worse than beasts."
"I will take Elizabeth's ashes and bury her. She wouldn't want to see you."
She pointed outside, "Get out, all of you."
Eugene and the Clarks naturally didn't want to leave.
But this time, Rebecca was prepared. She hired several mercenaries who forcibly dragged Eugene and the Clarks out.
Her actions were supported by Bishop and Samantha.
They also believed that Elizabeth wouldn't want to see the people who caused her death.
So they helped Rebecca block Eugene and Betty from coming back.
Rebecca then buried Elizabeth next to Wayne's grave.
She also took all of Elizabeth's belongings, with the help of the mercenaries, from the Clark family and burned them all.
She published in the newspaper and posted on Facebook, publicly severing ties with Amy and Eugene.
After doing all this, she left the country again, not wanting to stay in this place of sorrow.
Afterward, Eugene canceled all his work and went to sit by Elizabeth's grave every day.
He talked about their past and kept saying he was wrong.
He lived in constant pain and regret, missing Elizabeth every day.
No matter how much Amy scolded or tried to persuade him, he ignored her.
He didn't care about his career or going home, buying a house near the cemetery to stay close to Elizabeth's grave.
In the Clark family, Paul knew he was also at fault, and he admitted it.
He didn't know how to face Betty and his sons.
So he resigned from his position as CEO of the Clark Group and applied to go to a branch office abroad.
With Paul leaving the group, Loren naturally couldn't become the heir.
Especially since Bishop was very disappointed in Loren and supported another grandson to take over the company.
With Paul gone, Betty and the Clark sons, although they still let Brenda stay at home, felt somewhat distant from her.
They still felt pain over Elizabeth's death.
Especially after Elizabeth's death, whether it was Betty or the Clark sons, they couldn't help but often think of Elizabeth's various acts of care and kindness towards them, which made them regret and miss her even more.
They didn't cherish her when she was alive.
But after Elizabeth died, they all felt she was good and wished they could turn back time to treat her well.
Later, Brenda borrowed Generational Blessings from her brothers.
This time, without Elizabeth's reminder, the Clark sons all did.
And then they all had terrible luck.
The five sons' careers failed one after another, and they ended up living off their shares in the Clark Group.
Then Percy exposed that Brenda had been absorbing their Generational Blessings.
Only then did they realize their bad luck was related to Brenda.
They also learned that the kidnapper was actually in collusion with Brenda.
Back then, it was a conspiracy by Brenda and Samuel against Elizabeth.
It was also revealed that Elizabeth's disappearance back then was not an accident but orchestrated by Brenda's biological parents.
Brenda becoming an adopted daughter of the Clark family was also a calculated move to absorb their Generational Blessings.
Betty and the Clark brothers were completely devastated by this.
Eugene went mad, coaxing Brenda out for a meal and then trying to drive them both to their deaths.
But Brenda was very lucky at that time; she was unharmed, while Eugene had a severe car accident.
He spent the rest of his life in a wheelchair, still visiting Elizabeth's grave every day.
Betty and the Clark sons wanted to take revenge on Brenda, but every time they tried, they ended up suffering themselves.
They became increasingly miserable and unlucky.
This turned their love for Brenda into hatred and a desire for her to suffer or even die.
But no matter what they did, they just couldn't deal with Brenda, feeling frustrated and helpless.
They felt even more guilty and missed Elizabeth, often visiting her grave to talk.
Ten years after Elizabeth's death, Brenda suddenly died.
Her body had turned into that of an old woman, looking ugly and disgusting.
Betty, the Clark sons, and Eugene felt a great sense of relief and cried with excitement.
Brenda was finally dead; it was the punishment she deserved!
Their miserable lives in the latter half were also the punishment they deserved.
