Chapter 313 Why Are You Doing This to Me?
Enrique and Brenda took a tumble, and the game hit pause for a few. Brenda's team captain decided to shake things up a bit. He knew Brenda had beef with Elizabeth and Natalie on the other side. And to be honset, Brenda wasn't as good as Elizabeth. Instead of scoring, she kept losing the ball.
So, the captain told Brenda and Enrique to mess with the weakest players and keep Raymond busy. The plan was to focus on Elizabeth and Zachary. Maybe, just maybe, they could turn the game around.
Brenda, though, didn't really care about the captain's plan. She just nodded and said, "Okay, whatever."
Game back on.
At first, Brenda tried to hold back those two players and bug Raymond with Enrique. But the rest of the team? Useless. They couldn't stop Elizabeth and Zachary, who scored two more goals.
Brenda was fuming.
Time was running out, and both Zachary and Elizabeth were killing it. They weren't falling for any tricks.
Brenda was pissed. She felt like a fool for talking big. Winning was out, so she decided to just go after Elizabeth. When Elizabeth swiped the ball from one of Brenda's teammates, Brenda and Enrique charged.
Seeing this, everyone else piled in. It was chaos.
Brenda raised her stick, pretending to go for the ball but aiming for Elizabeth's leg. The game was almost over, so who cared if she got penalized? People were already trashing her online; a little more wouldn't hurt.
She had one goal: hurt Elizabeth and Natalie. Maybe even stomp on them "accidentally" and mess up their faces.
The more she thought about it, the more pumped she got.
But Elizabeth was no fool. She blocked Brenda's stick just in time.
Elizabeth called her out, "Your sneaky moves didn't work, so now you're just openly fouling?"
Brenda cursed in her head. How did Elizabeth react so fast? She almost had her.
Playing innocent, Brenda said, "What are you talking about? It was an accident."
No one bought it. Not the players, not the spectators, not even Enrique.
Elizabeth smirked, "No one's dumb here. No need to confess; you're losing anyway."
Then she smoothly got the ball from Brenda's teammate and took off.
But Brenda wasn't backing down. She blocked Elizabeth's path, and her teammates closed in.
Brenda stood firm, forcing Elizabeth to stop. She acted like she was going for the ball, but she was really aiming to whack Elizabeth with her stick.
This time, Elizabeth didn't block. She let Brenda hit her leg on purpose.
Everyone was stunned. They were all worried for Elizabeth and Natalie.
Then, in a slick move, Elizabeth spun around, backhanded the ball, and broke free from the circle.
Brenda, standing sideways, had just hit Elizabeth's leg and took a couple of steps back. As Elizabeth turned, she tried to get the ball out but stumbled from the hit and crashed right into Brenda.
Elizabeth crashing into her could mean injury. So, Brenda instinctively turned and grabbed Enrique, pulling him in front of her. Maybe it was survival instinct or some crazy adrenaline rush, but Brenda's strength spiked.
Enrique couldn't believe it. The girl he'd adored for years used him as a human shield. It happened so fast he couldn't react.
Brenda's timing was spot on. Just as Enrique moved in front, Elizabeth slammed into him. Brenda leaned back and to the side, letting Enrique take the full hit. He felt a sharp pain shoot through his back and cried out.
Both of them hit the ground hard. Enrique landed first, with Brenda crashing on top of him. He ended up cushioning her fall, making his injuries even worse.
Right then, the game-ending buzzer went off. Elizabeth's team won, but all eyes were on Enrique. The ref and medics rushed over. The show's doctors were there in a flash too.
One doctor said, "His injuries are bad; he's got a spinal fracture."
Another added, "His arms and legs are broken too."
Everyone was in shock. No one saw this coming. They felt bad for Enrique. It was a total disaster.
Brenda started the whole mess by attacking Elizabeth, and now she had to face the fallout. No one expected her to be so ruthless, using Enrique as a shield. If he'd just ignored Brenda and quitting playing, he wouldn't be in this mess.
The medics carefully lifted Enrique onto a stretcher to get him to the hospital. As they did, Enrique's eyes were filled with pain and a blank stare. He looked at Brenda, his eyes full of disbelief and a coldness she'd never seen.
Even though it hurt like hell to talk, he asked her, "Why did you do this to me?"
He'd come to protect her, but in the end, she hurt him on purpose. Why?
