Chapter 110 Could It Really Be Such a Coincidence?
Brenda was leaning against Richard, her side facing Elizabeth.
Angela, meanwhile, eyed Brenda and Richard with a hint of envy, also facing Elizabeth with her side.
Elizabeth nudged Rebecca. "Hey, check out Angela. Doesn't she look a lot like Brenda?"
Rebecca glanced over, surprised. "You're right, they do!"
She snapped a few photos with her phone, capturing all four of them, and then took separate shots of Brenda and Angela.
Just as she finished, Angela seemed to sense something and turned to look their way.
Rebecca quickly put down her phone as Angela turned.
Angela stiffened slightly, then acted like she hadn't seen Rebecca and looked away.
While pouring wine for Hubert, she leaned in close to chat with him.
Hubert occasionally nodded.
Though they weren't very close, Angela's leaning in gave off an intimate vibe, especially with another pair cuddling nearby.
Rebecca chuckled. "She definitely saw and recognized me."
Their interactions had been normal before, but now Angela was deliberately getting close to Hubert.
It was clear she was doing it for Rebecca to see.
Elizabeth nodded. "She definitely recognized you."
She asked, "Do you know her background?"
Rebecca, thinking of her conversation with Hubert before, replied, "I don't know. I once asked Hubert, and he only said she was a relative. I don't want to become a bitter woman, so I never investigated or targeted Angela. I thought, why should women make things hard for each other? Even though I dislike her and often argue with Hubert because of her, I never deliberately went after her. Angela alone couldn't have caused all this."
She looked at Angela, then at Brenda.
She asked Elizabeth, "They don't look alike from the front, but from the side, they look like twins. Do you think they have some connection?"
Elizabeth nodded. "Yeah, I don't think it's a coincidence. Let me sense it."
Elizabeth usually didn't check people's destiny unless something bad was happening or there was a need.
Rebecca nodded curiously. "Yeah, take a look."
Seeing that Angela wasn't looking their way, she stood up.
As expected, Angela's attention was partly on them, and she instinctively looked over.
Elizabeth carefully observed her sense of destiny.
After Angela turned back to look at Hubert, Brenda, who was in Richard's arms, also sat up straight.
She turned around and took the water Richard had asked the waiter to bring.
Elizabeth then carefully observed Brenda's sense of destiny.
Her face showed surprise. "From their sense of destiny, they're half-sisters."
She asked Rebecca, "What's Angela's last name?"
Rebecca was shocked, clearly not expecting this relationship.
Rebecca asked, "Her name is Angela Lopez. Was Brenda's last name Lopez before she joined the Clark family?"
Elizabeth shook her head. "No, her last name was Turner."
Rebecca was puzzled. "How can they be half-sisters then? Is there some hidden secret?"
She trusted Elizabeth's judgment, so the issue must lie with the sisters.
"And they don't seem very familiar with each other." Rebecca analyzed further.
Elizabeth nodded. "They indeed don't seem to be pretending not to know each other. Could it be possible that they are half-sisters but don't know about each other's existence?"
Rebecca nodded. "That could be it."
She then joked, "Are they sent by the heaven to ruin our relationships?"
Otherwise, how could it be so coincidental that they happened to be sisters?
Elizabeth's eyes deepened. "Brenda's birthday is the same as mine."
She had heard this from Betty after joining the Clark family.
Betty said they had adopted Brenda because a fortune teller had told them that adopting a girl with the same birth date and giving her Elizabeth's original name would help them find their biological daughter.
Involving a fortune teller had made her suspicious.
For example, at the age of four, she was abducted by human traffickers and lost consciousness. When she woke up, she only remembered playing with a little boy. He suddenly ran off to see someone playing with toys, forgetting about her behind him.
However, she couldn't remember what he looked like, his name, or where they were. Importantly, she didn't remember her own name, what her parents looked like, the situation at home, or any details about her family.
So after being rescued, because she remembered nothing and the city was far from Clifftonshireburg, she became a child without relatives to claim her.
After being adopted by Wayne, she remembered everything that happened in her childhood.
She had always been smart, almost having a photographic memory.
Even at four years old, she shouldn't have forgotten everything.
Something didn't add up.
Now discovering that Brenda and Angela were sisters deepened her sense of unease.
Hearing Elizabeth's words, Rebecca was shocked.
"You have the same birth date?"
She then added, "I should mention, Angela and I also share the same birth date. I saw her resume at the company by chance. I was speechless, thinking how we could be born on the same day."
Rebecca looked at Elizabeth, puzzled. "Could it really be such a coincidence? But I don't know her exact birth time."
For some reason, she felt Angela might have been born at the same time as her.
Elizabeth said, "I don't think it's a coincidence. So we need to investigate Angela and Brenda's backgrounds thoroughly."
Rebecca agreed, "Yes, we should investigate thoroughly. I know a great private detective. I'll ask him to look into it."
Elizabeth nodded. "Good!"
She then suggested, "Also, check if Angela and Brenda were born at the same time, down to the exact minute. Preferably down to the hour and minute."
Fortune telling relied on specific birth dates, but even if born at the same day, the exact time might differ.
So they needed to check to make a better judgment.
