Chapter 139 Such a Meticulous Plan
Rebecca felt even more disgusted by Amy after hearing this and also felt sorry for Orlando. These years had been tough for him.
"Dad, do you still not know who's behind my mom?" Rebecca asked.
Orlando nodded. "They've hidden too well. Even after more than twenty years, I still haven't found out."
Rebecca realized the conspiracy ran deep. "So you don't know who Percy's real father is either? Has my mom never met that man again?"
She then brought up the antiques Amy had sent away. "Didn't you investigate who she gave them to?"
Orlando sighed. "I did, but every lead got cut off. She'd secretly meet with that man, but even special departments couldn't track them. Her affair partner is very cautious and capable. I have to take it step by step."
He was just an ordinary person, making it easier for that man to avoid Orlando. Despite pretending to be a love-struck fool, Orlando hadn't been idle all these years. But there was no need to tell Rebecca; it wouldn't help her.
Rebecca felt a chill. "So you just have to keep waiting."
Orlando nodded. "Yes."
Rebecca suddenly remembered something. "Dad, do you know Percy and Brenda are siblings?"
Orlando replied, "Yes, I noticed Amy treated Brenda differently, even liked and cared for her a lot, so I felt something was off. If she had been out of my sight for more than three months, I would have suspected Brenda was her child. But I got Brenda's hair and did a DNA test. Finding out they weren't related, I then did a DNA test for Brenda and Percy. That's how I found out they're siblings, both children of Amy's affair partner. Your mom treats Brenda well because of her affair partner."
He couldn't understand Amy on this point either. She loved that man so much, how could she also care for the daughter he had with another woman?
Rebecca said, "Mrs. Diaz brought back that so-called niece, who is actually her biological daughter, and Angela and Percy are half-siblings too. Elizabeth and I only discovered this a couple of days ago."
Orlando was surprised. "Looks like Otis's wife also had an affair! But he probably doesn't know the truth and genuinely likes Mrs. Diaz. Melissa is different from your mom; she's especially good at pleasing Otis. Because of her, Otis treats his own son, Hubert, poorly."
Melissa was much smarter and more cunning than Amy. But it was fortunate Amy wasn't that smart and was quite conceited, thinking Orlando truly loved her and couldn't live without her. Otherwise, he might not have been able to keep up the act for so many years without her finding out.
He clicked his tongue. "Otis's youngest son might not be his biological son either."
The Baker family and the Diaz family had business dealings, and Orlando had a decent relationship with Otis. It was clear Otis genuinely disliked his son, Hubert. He even harbored murderous intent towards Hubert to seize the shares and assets in Wade's hands. That's why Hubert smartly went abroad to avoid him and build strength to fight back.
Because of this, Orlando felt the Diaz family was too complicated, and Hubert wasn't a good match for Rebecca. He didn't oppose Rebecca going abroad because he hoped she would see things clearly for herself.
Orlando also wanted to avoid Amy. He always knew she was scheming to take what Rebecca had, likely under the influence of the person behind her.
Rebecca couldn't help but mock, "Her affair partner must be quite something," thinking about how he managed to have affairs with various beautiful women who willingly helped him and even loved his illegitimate children.
Just thinking about it made her feel disgusted. Amy hated her so much because she resembled Orlando, a constant reminder of her betrayal to her affair partner. Maybe when Amy sent Rebecca to her maternal family, she knew Rebecca would be bullied and tormented, hoping to destroy this evidence of her betrayal.
The more Rebecca thought about it, the colder she felt. Orlando agreed, "I sometimes suspect that too."
They had discovered three illegitimate children with the same father but different mothers, each placed in a major wealthy family. That man must be quite something.
Orlando thought for a moment and said, "It seems Elizabeth being kidnapped back then was definitely orchestrated by that person."
That man might not have been able to seduce Betty, or maybe Paul was already married when the plan started. To seize the Clark family's Generational Blessings, he kidnapped Elizabeth and then found a way to send Brenda in. It was a meticulous plan.
The more they discovered, the more shocking and daunting it became. Rebecca felt it was very likely as her father said. "That person is truly evil."
She then recounted what happened in Paul's office and asked, "Dad, is it okay if I tell Elizabeth what we talked about today? Those people also want to target her."
The only people she trusted now were Orlando and Elizabeth. She hoped Elizabeth would know more about the situation and be better prepared.
Orlando guessed Rebecca would do this. He nodded, "Tell her. It seems she's already caught up in this conspiracy. If she knew nothing or was just an ordinary person, telling her would easily expose and harm her. But she is a divination master and quite capable. Now it seems the more she knows, the better it might be for her."
Orlando had a feeling that Elizabeth might be a breakthrough in this matter. "Besides Elizabeth, you can't tell anyone else about this. Including Eugene and Hubert," he reminded her. "When you see your mom and Percy, just act as usual, don't show any signs of suspicion."
Rebecca nodded, "Don't worry, I understand." She's not as foolish as Eugene.
She thought for a moment and asked, "Dad, is Grandma okay?"
Orlando nodded, "She's fine. The conflicts she had with your grandpa were just an act for your mom and the others."
Rebecca breathed a sigh of relief. "That's good!"
After finishing their meal, Orlando accompanied Rebecca to the mall and bought a lot of jewelry and clothes before they parted ways.
Although Amy was at the Baker Villa, she quickly learned about this and cursed the two of them in her heart. She was even more displeased and dissatisfied with Orlando accompanying Rebecca to buy things. Although she didn't love Orlando, she considered him her private property. She didn't like him being good to other women, even if it was her own daughter, Rebecca. If she weren't trapped in the Baker Villa by Janet, she would have called Orlando back to accompany her.
