Chapter 430 It's Time for Us to Fight Back

When Eugene showed up, Rebecca was sipping tea with Janet. She glanced up, a bit taken aback. "What are you doing here?"

Eugene shot back with a knowing look, "Why do you think? Whatever you're here for, I'm here for the same thing."

Rebecca arched an eyebrow. "Really? You sure about that? 'Cause I'm here to tell Grandma and Dad that I want to cut ties with Amy."

Eugene realized Rebecca was way more decisive than he was. He'd been mulling over everyone's opinions on the plane last night and today, only making up his mind after landing. But Rebecca? She'd already made her decision back at Shadow Peak.

He gave a wry smile. "Yeah, same here. I wanted to tell Grandma and Dad too. Guess it's rare for us to be on the same page."

Even though Eugene and Rebecca were twins, they'd grown apart over the years. Their relationship was pretty rocky now.

Rebecca looked genuinely surprised. "You can let go? Weren't you the one who always craved her motherly love the most?"

Eugene sighed. "I've had enough. This whole mess made me see that, to her, we don't matter at all. So yeah, let's cut ties."

He needed to take a page from Elizabeth and Rebecca's book. He'd always cared too much about Amy, yearning for the motherly love he never got and kept giving. But in the end, Amy's treatment of him hurt him deeply, leaving him even more disheartened.

Rebecca sneered. "Wow, didn't expect to hear that from you. Finally acting like a man. You've changed my opinion of you."

Eugene went quiet. Did she mean he wasn't a man if he didn't cut ties? Rebecca was getting sharper with her words.

Janet, sitting nearby, watched the siblings with a hint of relief. She chimed in, "Do what you need to do. Amy's not fit to be your mother. I support you."

Janet had put up with Amy for too long. If it weren't for the Baker Family and her grandkids, she would've kicked Amy out ages ago. Now that Eugene was also fed up with Amy, this was the best outcome.

Eugene always knew Janet disliked Amy, so her support wasn't a shock. He asked, "What about Dad?"

Janet replied, "He should be here soon." When Rebecca mentioned cutting ties, Janet called Orlando to come over. She hadn't expected Eugene to be hurt enough to want to cut ties too. It showed just how awful Amy was.

Eugene nodded. "Alright, I'll wait."

After a bit, Orlando walked in. As soon as he sat down, Rebecca told him they had decided to cut ties with Amy.

Orlando knew Rebecca was determined. But Eugene doing the same was a surprise. He looked at Eugene and asked, "Are you sure? Once you announce this, there's no going back."

This time, Eugene didn't hesitate and nodded. "I've decided. Mom doesn't like us anyway. She always said she regretted not being able to have an abortion back then, otherwise she wouldn't have wanted us. If that's the case, then cutting ties will make things easier for both sides."

After making this decision, Eugene felt a sense of relief he'd never experienced before. It turned out that his longing for motherly love had always been a shackle on him.

Orlando nodded. "Since you both have thought it through, I support your decision."

Eugene was a bit taken aback. "I thought you'd try to talk us out of it."

Orlando paused, then decided to lay it all out. "You really think I care about your mom?"

Eugene was stunned. "You don't care?"

Orlando sneered. "Not only do I not care, but I've had enough of her for a long time." He then spilled the beans about being set up, Amy having a lover, and giving birth to Percy.

Eugene was floored and took a moment to process it all. These were things he never imagined. He glanced at Rebecca and Janet, who looked unsurprised, and suddenly felt like the biggest fool in the family. If Orlando hadn't said anything, he would've thought his dad was head over heels for Amy.

Seeing Eugene's dazed look, Orlando chuckled and patted him on the back. "Scared stiff, huh?"

Eugene snapped out of it and couldn't help but say, "Dad, you're quite the actor." He'd been completely fooled.

Orlando raised an eyebrow. "If even you could tell I was acting, why would I bother?"

Eugene pressed, "So you're done acting?"

Orlando nodded. "Yep, no more acting." His eyes turned cold. "It's time for us to fight back."

Rebecca had contacted Orlando yesterday. She sent him the video and told him Elizabeth was going to deal with Amy. Orlando immediately understood that the time to fight back and get rid of Ethan had come. So they had to cooperate well with Elizabeth. And he was almost out of patience with Amy.

Rebecca asked, "Dad, are you going to get a divorce?"

Orlando smiled knowingly. "Divorce? We never got married, so there's no talk of divorce."

Rebecca and Eugene were shocked. "You never got married?"

Orlando replied, "I was wary of her from the start. So on the day we were supposed to get the marriage certificate, I created a lot of trouble to delay. By the time we got to the city hall, the staff had gone home. She lost patience."

He paused, taking a deep breath before continuing, "Then I said I could find someone to help, and we could get the marriage certificate without her having to come again. She thought I loved her so much that I couldn't live without her and wanted to use marriage to tie her down. And she was thinking about her lover, so she didn't care about the marriage certificate. Then I had someone make a fake marriage certificate, showed it to her, and kept it. So we never got married and weren't legally protected as a married couple."

Orlando leaned back, a slight smirk on his face. "When it came time to plan the wedding, I found ways to delay. Soon after, she got pregnant with Percy and had severe morning sickness, so I pretended to be considerate and said I didn't want her to suffer. I said I'd give her a grand wedding after she had the baby. I also gave her family a lot of benefits. Her family persuaded her, so we didn't have a wedding."

He shrugged nonchalantly, "She mentioned it later, but I always brushed it off. So we don't have a marriage certificate and never had a proper wedding. Our relationship is just cohabitation with children; she has no official status. Now I can unilaterally break up, whether she agrees or not doesn't matter."

Orlando thought, 'Amy and Ethan think they could fool me? I've always been prepared and have planned my counterattack long ago.'
