Chapter 372 Squeezing Out the Last Bit of Value

Elizabeth could tell from the creepy vibe in the voice that the other person was pissed. It was clear they'd been hit with some serious backlash and were now freaking out.

She glanced at the two people totally lost in the formation, grabbed the seal, rune stones, and gems she used, and then directed the leftover evil aura into them. It punished them and kept random folks from getting tainted by the bad vibes. Without giving them another thought, Elizabeth headed to the airport.

As she got on the plane, an old man in the building of the Divination Association's upper echelon coughed up a mouthful of black blood. His wrinkles deepened, and more age spots popped up on his hands. Clutching his chest, his expression twisted. Through gritted teeth, he muttered, "Elizabeth, just you wait."

All these years, it was the first time his carefully laid plans had been wrecked so badly, causing a severe backlash that cost him a chunk of his lifespan from the Generational Blessings. If this kept up, it would be a disaster.

Elizabeth had turned out to be a wild card. He regretted not taking her out earlier. If he had, none of this would have happened.

Not long after, Gregory walked in with Darlene and Brenda trailing behind. He respectfully said, "Teacher, I brought them."

Ethan spoke, "Come in."

After sending the two inside, Gregory closed the door and stood guard outside. Darlene and Brenda stood at the door, staring at the old man sitting cross-legged with blood at the corner of his mouth. Panic set in, and they moved closer to each other for comfort.

Ethan gave them a kindly smile and waved them over. "Come here, let me take a look."

But the two were too scared and took a few steps back. Seeing this, Ethan's eyes turned cold, and his expression changed instantly. He reached out towards Darlene, and a chain made of evil aura yanked her towards him.

"Ah, what are you doing?" Darlene cried out. She had been sent by the divination master she trusted, who told her it was to help remove the poison and get her back to normal. But why was there this creepy old man here? Before she could even process it, she was pulled to Ethan, everything went black, and she fainted.

Ethan grabbed her neck, using a spell to suck out her life force and Generational Blessings.

Brenda, standing at the door, watched in horror. She saw Ethan, who was full of wrinkles, gradually become younger after grabbing Darlene. She covered her mouth to keep from screaming, terrified he'd do the same to her.

After more than ten minutes, Darlene had aged significantly, her aura barely there, and Ethan finally stopped. He looked up at Brenda, his eyes filled with both desire and disdain. He wanted the remaining Generational Blessings and vibrant life in her but hated that her Generational Blessings were messed up due to the backlash, ruining his plan.

Originally, he had predicted that a chosen one would be born in the Clark Family of Clifftonshireburg. This chosen one was blessed by heaven with Generational Blessings.

His plan was simple: make everyone despise her, then find a girl born at the same time to steal her Generational Blessings. The replacement girl would be adored by everyone, soaking up more and more Generational Blessings, eventually becoming a mature medium.

If he could then absorb the Generational Blessings from her, it would be a huge win. Not only would it extend his lifespan, but it could also push his power to the peak of the advanced level. If everything went smoothly, he could live another hundred years.

But who would've thought that Elizabeth would mess up his plan, and Brenda, the girl he set up, turned out to be increasingly dumb and useless?

Instead of gaining Generational Blessings, he faced backlash multiple times. Now, he had to constantly clean up Brenda's messes. If it weren't for the fact that Brenda's fate was tied to Elizabeth's from birth, making her necessary to deal with Elizabeth, he would've drained Brenda's Generational Blessings and life by now. Without Brenda, if he tried to take the Generational Blessings himself, he'd be punished and likely die.

"You don't need to be afraid, I'll help you," he said, switching back to his kindly and benevolent demeanor. "I was just extracting her Generational Blessings to transfer them to you."

For some reason, seeing Ethan like this, Brenda felt a sense of closeness, as if he were family. But she remained cautious, saying, "Why are you helping me like this?"

Ethan replied, "Because Samuel is my most valued student. He asked me to take good care of you."

Brenda was too useless and might not be able to keep secrets, so telling her he was her biological father wasn't a good idea.

Hearing this, Brenda couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief. She pointed to the unconscious Darlene on the ground and asked, "Is she okay? Will she be alright?"

Ethan sneered, "If something happens to her, don't you want her Generational Blessings? If you don't want them, then leave now, and I'll return them to her later."

These kids were just tools he had created to use. He didn't care about their lives. Darlene had lost her ability to appraise treasures, and after returning to Clifftonshireburg, she was marginalized in The Spellscroll Group. She was no longer useful.

Now he was just squeezing out her last bit of value before she died. After all, her life was given by him, and after enjoying it for more than twenty years, she should be satisfied.

Brenda's expression changed slightly upon hearing this. She quickly said, "I want them."

She wasn't familiar with Darlene, and as long as her Generational Blessings could be restored, Darlene's life or death had nothing to do with her. Realizing she was too eager, she explained, "I can't let Samuel's kindness go to waste."

Ethan sneered inwardly. Brenda was indeed his child, selfish and cold-hearted to the core.

He smiled at her and waved. "Yes, we can't let Samuel's kindness go to waste."

For the sake of Generational Blessings, Brenda was no longer afraid of him and even felt closer to him. Thinking that if he wanted to harm her, she wouldn't be able to resist, just like Darlene. So, she walked over voluntarily.
