Chapter 301 I Won't Spoil Her
Brenda and Enrique had to stick around and put up with the crap. The clerk at the counter treated them like any other worker. She dragged them to the display area and said, "These clothes are for the models. Pick a few to try on."
Brenda's face went dark, and she snapped, "We gotta pick ourselves? Then what are you even here for?" Wasn't she supposed to help them out?
The clerk was caught off guard; she didn't expect Brenda to be so blunt. Did Brenda think she was some kind of servant?
She frowned and said, "We're all just employees here. Bringing you to the clothes doesn't mean I'm at your beck and call. Besides, I'm pretty sure you won't like my picks. You two are always so picky on the live stream."
Brenda, annoyed, shot back, "The boss told you to bring us here. Helping us pick clothes isn't a big deal, right?"
She was a star, a rich heiress, and she was here as a model, feeling all high and mighty. She thought the clerk should cater to them.
The clerk had seen plenty of customers and was especially fed up with Brenda's attitude. She said coldly, "Save it for when you're customers. This isn't the Clark Family, where you can act all high and mighty." Then she added, "If you're not happy, you can leave anytime. We don't need you as models here."
When there were no customers, they usually watched live streams together with their boss. The one they disliked the most was Brenda, then Enrique, and then the other two Clark brothers.
These two weren't even customers, so she had no intention of serving them. They were all just employees, yet Brenda acted like a spoiled princess needing a servant. What was Brenda thinking? Because the boss couldn't even stand the two of them, she wasn't scared of Brenda at all.
Brenda didn't expect a clerk to have such a bad attitude. She was fuming as she said, "We're not familiar with the store's clothes, so we asked you to help us pick. Otherwise, we wouldn't need you."
The clerk glanced at Brenda and said, "I can't find clothes that suit your vibe. So just pick whatever you like yourself. Everything here is fine. Once you've chosen, change into them yourself. Then go find the makeup artist to get your makeup done, and you can start working. I have to attend to customers, so I'm out."
Then she turned and left, clearly not wanting to deal with them.
Brenda stomped her foot, grumbling, "What kind of service is this? It's ridiculous. With this attitude, she'd have been complained about long ago in other places."
Another clerk who was cleaning heard it. She looked up and said, "Look, we're all just working here. No one's better than anyone else. So why do you think you can boss others around? Can't you just do it yourself?"
Brenda was too funny, thinking she was a customer. If it were a difficult customer, they would endure it. But facing someone as annoying as Brenda, it was hard to be patient and serve her nicely.
Especially since Brenda was quite tricky and would borrow people's Generational Blessings. If they got along well, what if she suddenly asked to borrow their Generational Blessings?
Brenda paused and then said, "You're bullying me."
The clerk innocently retorted, "We're just telling the truth. How is that bullying you? We're not men, unlike your good brothers who pamper and indulge you in everything. Hurry up and pick your clothes and get to work. You're getting a base salary of $150 a day. I hope you can live up to that."
Brenda was furious but didn't know how to retort. After all, they were here to work.
She took a deep breath and said, "Fine, we'll pick ourselves."
The clerk just smiled and replied, "Great."
If she had this realization earlier, there wouldn't have been an argument. Brenda was just used to being a noble lady, always wanting to be above others. They wouldn't indulge her.
Brenda stopped talking and pulled Enrique to pick clothes. Enrique's face didn't look good either. He had never been treated with such disdain before. Now he had to endure the mistreatment, feeling very aggrieved. He regretted coming on this reality show even more. It felt like nothing was going right, and everyone was out to make them feel miserable.
Enrique wanted to just chill and go with the flow, but Brenda dragged him along to pick out some outfits and told him to try them on.
She grabbed a few for herself too. 'Soon, we'll prove who the top salesperson is,' she thought.
After picking their clothes, they went to find the makeup artist. Even though the makeup artist was kinda cold, she didn't mess with them. She did their makeup and accessories based on the outfits they chose.
Once they were all dolled up and went downstairs, they saw Raymond and Nancy already there, chatting with the clerk about the fabric and materials of the clothes. They were asking all sorts of questions.
Brenda and Enrique didn't bother joining in; they didn't see the point. They weren't really in this line of work, so why waste time asking a bunch of questions?
Once Raymond and Nancy got the gist of things, they officially started working.
When customers came in, Raymond and Nancy were all over them. They showed off the clothes they were wearing and recommended other stuff too.
A lot of customers came specifically for them. They followed them around, listened to their pitches, and then tried on clothes.
Seeing this, Brenda said to Enrique, "Enrique, let's go snag some customers too."
Enrique nodded.
They went to greet customers.
Brenda zeroed in on the guys, while Enrique mainly went for the ladies.
But it was like night and day between the two.
Enrique was kinda meh about the whole thing, half-heartedly recommending stuff. He didn't really get the clothes or how to mix and match them. When customers weren't interested, he just gave up. Naturally, they drifted towards Raymond, who was not only better looking but also had a great attitude and genuine recommendations. After that, Enrique just wandered around, not putting in much effort. He figured he'd still get his base salary even if he didn't sell anything.
Brenda, on the other hand, was super enthusiastic about recommending clothes to the guys. Once she got one, she wouldn't let go, constantly pushing them to try on clothes. Most of the guys felt too awkward to say no. They ended up trying on a bunch of outfits Brenda suggested, and some even bought one.
Raymond and Nancy, when attracting customers, wouldn't push if they seemed uninterested. But because they had learned a lot from the clerks earlier, they could answer customers' questions. Like, whether the clothes were breathable or if they'd feel stuffy.
They were good-looking, had a great attitude, and didn't annoy people, so customers genuinely wanted to buy from them.
Viewers watching the live stream started liking Raymond and Nancy more and more. Especially Raymond, who was exceeding everyone's expectations. People felt he had become more down-to-earth. He wasn't the high-and-mighty star anymore, and more people liked him.
As for Brenda and Enrique, they were getting more hate. They came to work, but instead of learning from the clerks, they only wanted to be served.
Enrique, when faced with something he didn't know, would tell customers to ask other clerks; Brenda would sweet-talk customers, pestering them. This was something many customers found annoying when they entered the store.
Moreover, everyone noticed that Brenda specifically targeted male customers. Nancy and Raymond, on the other hand, didn't pick and choose; they greeted any customer they encountered. So Brenda got scolded again.
In the store.
Brenda had just sent off a male customer who had bought clothes. She heard someone shout, "Brenda!"
Brenda turned around, initially surprised, then forced a smile. "Hello, Nathan!"
It was a young guy named Nathan Moore, who looked pretty good. He walked over with a big smile and asked, "What brings you to selling clothes here?" Wasn't Brenda a noble heiress? Had she fallen to this level?
Nathan had been traveling around recently and didn't like watching live reality shows, so he knew nothing about this live reality show.
Brenda smiled and explained, "I'm filming a reality show, working to earn today's meal and lodging." Then she asked, "Are you here to buy clothes too? Want me to pick out a couple of outfits for you?"
Nathan's eyes scanned Brenda as he replied, "Sure, I trust your taste."
