Chapter 188 Should I Thank You?

Elizabeth noticed Samuel's suspicion but chose not toexplain.

She smiled nonchalantly. "If you don't believe me, forget it."

She was just giving it a try. Meanwhile, she confirmed her own judgment.

Samuel undoubtedly knew that he and Brenda didn't share the same mother; what remained uncertain was whose biological mother currently played the role of their shared mother figure.

Their dad was indeed skilled with women, making one woman raise another woman's child.

Elizabeth had previously checked Amy's sense of destiny and found no signs of curses on her.

This indicated that these women were willing participants.

Of course, just because the women weren't strange didn't mean the man wasn't.

Samuel couldn't tell if Elizabeth had figured it out or was just bluffing him.

"You're quite impressive, knowing I could sense their presence from their badges and have them block me in the stairwell." He looked at Elizabeth and asked, "Did you guess that, or did you use some kind of divination?"

He fixed his eyes on her face, observing her expression.

Elizabeth was momentarily stunned, then looked at Percy and Ryan with an raised eyebrow. "You guys really told him everything, huh!"

Ryan looked at Percy; it was Percy who had told Samuel.

Percy maintained a slight smile, his expression unwavering, as he addressed Elizabeth. "I just wanted him to know how formidable you are. Trying to mess with you or scheme against you would be pointless for him."

He added with emphasis, "I also wanted him to know that you are their nemesis."

Elizabeth gave Percy a meaningful look. "So, should I thank you?"

She found it hard to believe that Percy hadn't acted deliberately.

She could guess his motive a bit.

He was trying to reveal her information to Samuel so that Samuel could spread it.

Percy might be trying to save himself and use her to deal with the people behind the scenes.

Of course, there was also the possibility that Percy and Samuel were in cahoots.

Percy maintained a smile. "No need to thank me!"

Elizabeth found Percy to be quite thick-skinned.

She calculated that it was about time and yawned. "I'm tired, and I gotta go."

Samuel noticed that the aura had been successfully intercepted for the most part.

If Elizabeth left now, it would all be for nothing.

So he looked at Elizabeth and said, "Don't you want to know why I'm targeting you?"

Elizabeth looked at him meaningfully. "I don't want to know."

Samuel fell silent. He felt Elizabeth was doing this on purpose. How annoying!

He wanted to keep talking to buy time, but Elizabeth ignored him.

She stood up and said to Percy and Ryan, "I'm leaving now. Goodbye!"

Percy also stood up. "I'll walk you out!"

Elizabeth agreed, "Sure!"

The two walked out of the room, and Percy closed the door.

As they walked through the living room to the front door, Percy leaned close to Elizabeth's ear and whispered, "I mean you no harm."

Elizabeth looked at him. "Do you think I'll believe that?"

Percy looked helpless. "If you don't believe me, there's nothing I can do."

He lowered his voice, saying, "We should collaborate if we get the chance."

Elizabeth smiled. "We'll see about that."

She wasn't afraid of Samuel and his backers finding out that she was the one who had told them how to catch Samuel.

Once targeted by the evil wizard, it was not something she could easily avoid.

Occasionally showing her strength to make the other side wary and strike first wasn't a bad idea.

Percy opened the door and saw her out. "Good night!"

Elizabeth waved. "Good night!"

After stepping out, she saw Eugene standing against the wall across the hall.

Elizabeth glanced at him and then looked away, heading to her room.

Eugene watched her back, his eyes full of pain.

Percy also saw Eugene and felt a headache coming on.

The production team's crew was probably still on their way.

He spoke first, "Wait here. Someone will come to get you soon."

Eugene's eyes lit up. "Did Elizabeth contact them?"

Percy sighed, "I called your director after getting the number from her."

The light in Eugene's eyes dimmed instantly.

Percy said, "Eugene, you and Elizabeth are no longer suitable for each other. Just let it go."

From the aura between Eugene and Elizabeth, they were already repelling each other.

This indicated that Elizabeth would never forgive or reconcile with Eugene.

Eugene looked at Percy coldly. "Why are you getting close to Elizabeth? I've already given up on fighting you for the Baker Group. Isn't that enough?"

As a child, he had wanted to be close to Percy.

However, Percy had deliberately kept his distance from them, maintaining a sense of detachment.

Amy's biased favoritism also made him both envy and reject Percy.

But he never hated him.

After all, they were blood-related brothers; he never thought of fighting Percy.

However, he couldn't accept Percy getting close to Elizabeth.

Percy looked helpless. "I've never targeted you, so how am I not letting you go? My relationship with Elizabeth is purely professional, not as complicated as you think. I would never go after Elizabeth, whom you still like. I have that much decency."

He wasn't sure if he could survive, let alone have the time for romance. "I have things to do, so I won't invite you in."

With Samuel still inside, he couldn't bring Eugene in, fearing any complications.

Eugene knew Percy's character; if he said he wouldn't go after Elizabeth, he probably wouldn't.

He asked dejectedly, "Do you think I deserve this?"

Percy walked over and patted Eugene's shoulder. "If you know that, why keep clinging? It will only make her hate you more. Better to go your separate ways."

Elizabeth was a key target for those people.

Since Eugene had already broken up with Elizabeth, it was best not to get involved.

Eugene clenched his fists. "I want to, but I can't."

She was the Elizabeth he had grown up with since he was young!

Percy didn't know what to say.

He could only offer some comfort, "Let it be. Sometimes loving someone doesn't mean you have to be with them."

It was really hard for a single man who had never been in a relationship to comfort a heartbroken Eugene.

Eugene seemed to ponder over these words.

He repeated them softly.

After a moment, he looked at Percy and said, "I understand."

Percy was a bit confused, he understand what?

Eugene then said, "I'm leaving."

With that, he really left, looking lonely and desolate.

Percy shook his head, thinking if he had known it would come to this, why had he been so close to Brenda back then?

He returned to the room.

Ryan saw Percy come in and said, "You keep watch first, I'm going to take a shower."

Percy nodded, "Alright!"

After Ryan left, Samuel looked at Percy, curious. "Do you know what Elizabeth's capabilities are?"

The elegant smile on Percy's face disappeared. "If a powerful evil wizard like you can't tell, how would I know?"

Samuel suddenly asked, "What do you think of Brenda?"
